I took delivery of my Energi at 150 miles, because my dealer got it from another dealer and had to drive it down from 120 miles away, plus it had been driven 30 miles at the factory for quality testing. The lifetime average when I took delivery was 25 mpg. Now I have put a whole 'nother 50 miles on it, mostly on battery, and the lifetime average is up to 31 mpg. So it seems to me that the dealer employee who drove it down from Sacramento to Sunyvale must have pushed it pretty hard.

Well, if they are stupid questions, they are good questions. I'm definitely curious about the answers. Bueller?

I have a print-out of a Ford Motor Credit screen, labelled a "Deal Review", which the dealer had me sign (as did he). It shows a $750 down payment, which is the coupon. They looked it up in Vincent without my asking, and the GM told me about it like it was a big surprise, an unexpected gift from Ford; too bad for the surprise, I had the physical coupon in my folder and showed it to him. BTW, I have learned that people like me who walk into car dealers with a folder full of papers are called "paper boys". Guilty as charged. The Deal Review also lists the VIN of car #2, and shows $0 trade-in, so it has to be updated. I will let you know if the $750 down payment is still there after the update, but I am optimistic.

Oh yeah, oh yeah! My car is at the dealer tonight. I will pick it up tomorrow! Turns out this is not either one of the cars I have been tracking. My local dealer found a car at another dealer just like the one I had ordered and got it for me. I am so happy with the service they have provided; Sunnyvale Ford is a stand-up dealer.

Did you ask about the weight difference between the Energi wheels and the SE 5-spoke wheels? If the Energi wheels are lighter, that's a good reason not to make the switch. But otherwise, I might have done it, since the 5-spokes look so much better (IMO).

My wife's Prius has push button start, my Audi does not. I won't buy another car without it.

Got My VIN/Build Week/Estimated Delivery Today

Big congratulations to jberger and pluggedin! I am green with envy... -
The big difference is what Scooter80 said: "Took delivery today!" Not "Gave delivery today" ...
-
Yeah, for me the push-button start was a must-have. I didn't like the black interior, but I could not accept a keyed ignition. So Titanium was the right choice for me.
-
Don't get a Titanium. Comes with heated seats and only in black leather. Get an SE with "Dune" interior. Add the backup camera and moonroof as separate options. Moonroof comes with the garage door opener, for some reason.

I drove the Volt and liked many things about the car, but had a big problem with the interior size - it felt smaller than my wife's Prius, which is already rather small. The driving experience was very good - great acceleration, good handling - much better than the Prius. Then I drove the Fusion Hybrid. Enjoyed the roomy interior. And the handling, steering feel, ride quality, etc was better than the Volt (and incredibly better than the Prius). Haven't driven a Fusion Energi yet, but I drove a C-Max Energi and was very impressed with the torque. Great pickup! So I ordered a Fusion Energi. But as meyersnole said, on this board you are likely to find people who decided for the Fusion. You should drive them both for yourself.
-
meyersnole, have you found a trunk liner for the Energi trunk? That is, a REALLY SMALL trunk liner?

Visual Garage shark fin antenna, mark II: http://www.visualgarage.com/Product_VG_SFA_MKII.html Actually I already got this, and also the screen protector, even though my car is somewhere in Mexico. I'm building a little stack of homecoming gifts for my car. Thanks for your list; I will check out the goodies.

Got My VIN/Build Week/Estimated Delivery Today

Thanks, pluggedin. According to Jeff's spreadsheet, your car was built 16 days before mine was. So I guess my car is not late yet. -
Got My VIN/Build Week/Estimated Delivery Today

I got my second window sticker today. Why would anyone need a second window sticker? Well, it's a story... When I decided in January I was ready to order, my nearest dealer would not honor X-Plan pricing for a Fusion Energi. It took calling 3 more dealers before I found one who would, and then only for retail orders. So on February 6th I ordered the precise car I wanted -- Fusion Energi Titanium, ingot silver, moonroof, adaptive cruise, navigation, driver assist. With X-Plan, $105 over dealer invoice! On February 8th, cyberdman said it was "unscheduled clean". But then the sales rep started to manage my expectations downwards. First he warned that I shouldn't expect the car until April. Then it was April or May, then May. Then he said May or June. I started to think that the dealer had more retail orders than they had allocations, and was trying to see how long I would wait. And just then my nearest dealer called me and asked if I was still shopping for a Fusion Energi. Only under X-Plan, I said. Hold the phone, she said, and then came back and said the general manager had changed the policy, X-Plan was OK for Energis, and even for dealer stock. So I found a car in their inventory with all the right options plus one extra -- parking assist -- that was already built and ready to ship. On March 1st I ordered my second Energi, also under X-Plan. On March 4th, cyberdman told me it was "awaiting shipment on ramp 54". And there it has stood. I just checked with @FordService and it is still on ramp 54 in Hermosillo. I planned to cancel my original order as soon as I placed my second order, but when I got home I realized I didn't necessarily have to, I could just let it ride. And now the original retail order has been scheduled for production, has a window sticker posted, and the sales rep tells me it could be here by the end of April. So there's a race on. Will the dealer-stock order get on a train and get here before the retail-order car gets built and shipped? Or will the dealer-stock car sit under the Mexican sun for a month? Stay tuned... -
Good luck! Mine is still on the ramp in Mexico.

So if I drive it like a normal car, not a hot-rod but just a regular car, with air conditioning when it's hot, what can I expect? Are you early adopters seeing a 10% variation or more like a 50% difference depending on how you drive?

Fusion energi titanium pricing, trunk space, head lamps

1) Thanks to X-Plan, I am paying $105 over dealer invoice. But I had to pay $50 to qualify for X-Plan, so maybe I should say I'm paying $155 over invoice. 2) My order includes $669 for advertising assessment, $15 for "MDA assessment" and $47.88 for fuel charge. 4) Just from looking at the Energi trunk at the San Jose Auto Show, I expect it can hold 3 carry-ons, or 6-7 grocery bags. -

Take a look at: http://ev.sae.org/article/11705 (from another thread on this forum). Quoting from the article: Ford has seen no durability problem with its battery pack from hot soak itself, Portalatin told AEI. So long as the vehicle is parked, peak temperatures in the battery compartment don’t affect battery capacity or longevity. Once the Energi is in use and the A/C is turned on (which can be assumed in very hot weather), pack temperatures quickly lower to an acceptable level.

What?? The 2 first Energis delivered to anyone on this board are both in North Carolina? I'm moving there!

There's 1 at Frontier Ford in San Jose CA.
