About K22

  1. I really wish in Auto mode the car switches to EV later when it's past a certain speed. I think after around 50 MPH (80 Kmh) the battery is depleted quite rapidly that's it's better to just switch to ICE past this speed. Ditto when going up a hill. But I guess this whole issue affects only people who go on the highway daily (like myself).
  2. Ford removed insulation on the hood and also the rear doors. Closing the read door sounds tinny, like from an entry level econo car door. The front door remains heavy and closes with a heavier thunk. I hear the previous years have heavier doors.
  3. oh yeah... just tried it today. I never noticed because I never go in pure EV mode. Just Auto - EV later and back. Auto is usually all EV unless I push hard so EV only doesn't make sense for my driving.
  4. Interesting, mine doesn't change view when I switch from EV later to Auto (or vice versa). Maybe they changed it for the later years (mine is 2019 model). I agree, I would have been annoyed if mine did this too.
  5. Who else hates the placement of the drive mode button (Auto, EV, EV later)? I use it several times a day as my commute is a bit long and have to switch to EV later on the highway portion, and switch back to Auto when I hit traffic. I always accidentally hit the downhill assist or tap on the plastic portion on top of the button. It's not intuitively placed. And I wish the voice command could change the drive modes too. (also hate the heated steering wheel switch is only on the panel, and what a distraction because I always use Android auto, so I need to exit Android auto screen to switch on/off the heated steering wheel. Again I wish this was integrated with voice command). Ok rant over.
  6. Hi Jay, the fusion has a number of fans running at any time. I'm still only getting used to them. To name a few: 1. The cooled seats (if you have them) makes a fan sound 2. The screen has a fan sound too (sounds like a desktop computer fan) 3. There is a fan that blows air to the battery in the trunk, getting air from the vents behind rear seat head rests 4. Car engine seems to make loud-ish fan sound when it's in electric mode only So what you're hearing could be any of those or more. None of them are too loud though that would make me uncomfortable. Overall it's still the quietest car I've ever owned interior-wise.
  7. My 2019 does the exact same thing. Fan noise behind the screen. Also fan noise when using cooled seats, which actually warms up the back but cools the bum. ugh!
  8. Hi, from Montreal here. I have a level 2 charger so I can't answer your question about 110V charger, but I know before I had my level 2 installed, it was using a bit more electricity using the 110V charger that came with my car. I know because we have the "smart" meter here so I can check my home electricity consumption by the hour. (Unfortunately the detailed hourly breakdown won't let me go back 2 months prior, so I could not check for sure how much more it was using. I guess-timate about 10-15% more). So right now, my electricity comes to about 8.2¢ per kwh. And I value charge my car from 2am-5am, and I use about 8 to 8.5 kwh more electricity during this period, so I assume this is how much kwh I use to charge my car (from empty to full charge, 2019 model). So it costs be about 65 to 70¢ per night to charge my car. Or about $20 a month. I used to fill up my previous car (a small SUV), about $60 a week, or $240 a month. Now I fill up once a month, so $60 + $20 more for electricty = $160 savings a month. This is the summer rate though. We'll see this winter.
  9. In Montreal, Canada, the public chargers are $1 per hour everywhere. I always use them when I go downtown for the convenience of finding a parking spot in impossible-to-find-parking locations.
