Yes. However, Peter is saying he will be able to do it through his charger or myfordmobile.com...or that is how I read his post anyway.

The Ford/Leviton L2 charger is both quiet and runs cool, even when charging but the Siemans Versicharge L2 will do nicely. Don't forget you can also set charging times up on myfordmobile.com as well.

Kudos brother and happy motoring :shift:

Ford's Leviton 240 volt charging station
pluggedin replied to Taylorjd's topic in Batteries & Charging
Well, I would say no except for the fact that we have myself and others reporting they are getting 21+ miles on a charge or their displays are showing more than a 21 mile range. I just went to my garage and looked at my current charge and the displays shows 24 miles. That being said, my experience has been that those miles over 21 seem to fall off rather quickly and then the EV Now performs in what I would call a "normal" fashion, or in a way I would expect it to. The only explanation I have for the additional charge showing on the display is that Mr Electric told me I have "125 volts of two poles, for a total 250 volts". I have no idea if that would increase the effective charge or not and I will leave it to others, who know more about these things, to make their comments. -
I've read the back and forth here with great interest and it seems Brad may have some legit concerns and then he may have a learning curve (for both he and the car) involved here. I have watched my battery display do some really funny stuff in the last two weeks, since I took delivery, but the idiosyncrasies seem to be leveling out now and that may be the case for Brad, if he gives it time. What concerns me most is his statement that the ICE seem under powered and strains to maintain highway speeds of 65-70 mph. I have been on the freeway several times in the last two weeks and that is no where close to my experience. The engine and the hybrid battery should be working in tandem to provide the power to maintain those speeds, with power to spare, so his experience is not what should be expected. However, if he is using the EV (battery mode) to achieve highway speeds and on grades, he is doing in reverse of what I do and that will most decidedly suck up his EV range and kill his MPGe's. My experience, to date, tells me that I can expect the best results for highway speed and battery life in EV Later. So as soon as I enter an on ramp to a freeway I move from EV to EV Later and use the vehicle as a hybrid. Sure the mileage sucks and you can watch your MPGe 10ths of a mile drop like a rock off the Empire State Building but my overall MPGe's for trips around 60 miles has been around 60 MPGe because I am using my EV range before and after I get off the freeway. I was wringing my hands about my engine mpg's too until I changed all of my displays to show instantaneous fuel mileage and the exclusive engine mpg's went away. I suggest you do the same Brad and gauge everything by MPGe. If you are showing engine mpg's of 25 and EV miles of 130, let's say, you will be averaging closer to what you expect. Personally, I would not use my EV power to get my 4,000 pound car moving or use it to keep it moving up a grade...I would use the ICE/hybrid modes for those occasions. However, if you are experiencing a lack of power to maintain highway speeds in either EV Auto or EV Later or even EV+ perhaps, you should have your dealer address that issue. My two cents in kWh's, lol.

Ford's Leviton 240 volt charging station
pluggedin replied to Taylorjd's topic in Batteries & Charging
A couple of things. First, there IS a Ford charger made by Leviton. The unit you quote, at Home Depot, is similar to the Ford/Leviton L2 charger but the HD unit has a 25 ft cable where the Ford cable is 18 ft, but the Ford unit costs $800 when purchased thru the Geek Squad/Mr Electric. The Ford charger is different in how it looks and plugs into your outlet. See my post on this here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/569-geek-squad-install-of-l2-charger/. I bought this one and I like it...runs very cool, even though it is mounted on an outside wall and, in general, I show 25 EV miles available after a charge. -
Congrats Peter! I was a little overwhelmed by the different modes too but you will work your way through them.

The difference in my home electric bill was....
pluggedin replied to jeff_h's topic in Batteries & Charging
I might point out that both these figures of 6.9 kWh (Scooter80), using the L2, and 7.33 (meyersnole), using the L1, are real life figures...not a math exercise. These figures tend to support what we have been speaking to for months here, in that the L2 charger will charge the car faster and use less energy doing it then the L1 will. Both men have kWh meters installed. We are not picking on you Brad, just pointing out what we believe are the facts. I have a L2 charger and pay .13 cents per kWh x 6.9=.897 cents per charge. However, I have solar on my house and overproduce energy every year so I took a look at my bills this morning and extrapolated what my usage for the year might be in kWh's and how much energy I will likely produce (I am ahead of last year at this point) and figure I will use about 400 kWh's more then I produce. Which will cost me about $52 to drive my car for the entire year. I'm livin' large. -

Thanks meyersnole, you're a peach! -
You can update my delivered date to 3/26/13. It's wrong on the spreadsheet. Thanks.

2014 MY Fusion changes are out...

Oooooooh, I so very much wanted cooled seats in the desert. Can you imagine how much money I would lose if I traded my car in six months? These folks really know how to hurt a fella. -

Keep an eye on that rail car. In another life, I used to trace rail cars for the RT French Company (mustard people) and it was not uncommon to find cars that were supposed to be in route to Springfield, MO to be wandering around in Canada somewhere. We appreciate your installing the kwh meter, it will make life much less complicated for many of us. -
Way to go Peter, we look forward to hearing about your first experiences with your beautiful new ride.

Welcome, CombsAuthor! It sounds like you did not have to wait long for your car and that is fantastic. I'm sure you know the sad tales of woe that I and others have weaved here as we waited for our cars...and some still do. Loved your pictures! They gave me a clue to a couple of screens I haven't seen yet and I did not know we could upload other back ground pictures. Thanks. I'm sure I speak for others here when I say we look forward to sharing your Energi experience with you.

Murphy, I think we would all like to know how many kwh's it will take to charge the EV battery from 0 to full charge. Please post that number as soon as you can, once you receive your car. Using the figures (assuming they are correct) of 5 kw x 2.5 hr (to charge) does that mean it takes 12.5 kwh's to fully charge the EV battery? Seems small. -
Anyone changed appearance of grill? Maybe blacked out?
pluggedin replied to howardbc's topic in Appearance
You might consider a vinyl tape like 3M or Autosheild. I am pretty sure Autoshield makes a mask in carbon black. The kicker is they don't make kits for the grill but do have them for the bumper, hood, etc. Call Pepi at (561)367-0101, he seemed pretty willing to look outside the box when I spoke to him: http://www.autosupershield.com. -
I agree with this. I do have adaptive and I find that even on streets with a 35 mph speed limit I will set the cruise control and the car will keep a safe distance from any cars in front of me and slow down or speed up as necessary. Cruise control does do a better job then I do.

Your numbers really are amazing. Like most of us, I am paying more attention to my MPGe's then I am to my MPG's. I have had my MPGe's as high as 130 but the moment I head onto an on ramp to the freeway they begin to fall and have been as low as 85. I will have to look at my MPG's but I am certain they are not as high as yours are. Your car must not have seen a freeway yet and you must be charging at home and at work so you are almost always in EV. Right? I don't think anyone that travels the freeway at 70+ MPH for any distance at all will achieve your MPG's. Do you?

Hey Russael, welcome to the forum. I do hope your sales steps up and does his job in getting you a build date, etc. I took delivery of my Energi on 3/26 and have loved every minute of driving it. I do a lot of short round trips, the longest of which is about 16 miles, and I have had all EV miles of 150 and 160 mpge's on two different trips. That just seems insane to even say. I think I am going to have to carry my camera with me to prove myself though. On the flip side I went on a 60 mile round tripper on the freeway the other night and averaged 59.9 mpge's and used .67 gallons of gas. That's not quite as good as using all EV miles but I will have had the car for two weeks this coming Tuesday and have not used a quarter tank of gas yet and have 396 miles on the car. Freeway miles kill all of those good EV miles you bank and it's heart breaking to watch the mpge average fall like a rock. I'm a lot lighter in my wallet than I was two weeks ago but I having fun making the car look nice. Oh, and I love the sound system too. Anyway, welcome again and I hope you get good news soon.

Thanks brother, I am the only "Energi" buyer I know of that has not been able to use their $750 coupon. I can't fully fault the dealer though, since they split the difference with me on the coupon and ate $375 by taking that amount off the price of the car. Ford Motor Company is who I blame. They, apparently, put these coupons out with no consistent policy concerning how they are applied. From what I have witnessed it's pretty willy nilly in how and when they honor these coupons through their dealerships. In my case, the coupon expired (my fault for not looking at it closer, I guess) but when @FordService went to bat for me they denied the claim again based on the fact that the offer I have did not apply to the Energi, even though the coupon specifically spells out the Energi as being eligible. The coupon does say, however, that the offer "may not combine with other private of commercial offers" or "prior purchases not eligible (Customer Order?)". But they chose to deny my request because "your MODEL Fusion was ineligible for that offer". So what I come away with is the impression that Ford would just continue to find something on the coupon to deny my request until I give up. Okay I give up trying to get them to live up to their offer to me but I am not done letting people know how cheap Ford Motor Company is or how disappointed I am in them. Their treatment of me on this makes me worry about how they are going to treat me during my warranty period now too. The engineer's at Ford Motor Company have designed a wonderful car in the Fusion but their Sales and Marketing team could use a good lesson in customer service. My opinion.

Got My VIN/Build Week/Estimated Delivery Today
pluggedin replied to pluggedin's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
That's very good news! It won't be long now. -
Yes, I saw those spec and I think my tint is Wincos 70 but my paper work doesn't show the number, just the serial numbers of the film. It has been pretty warm here the last few days and I have notice very little heat on my left arm or shoulder when the sum is shining directly on the driver side window. One of the reviews I read spoke about the film being hazy but I see none of that. My wife has very poor eye sight and has not complained once of non being able to see out while driving or riding in the car. Distortion is certainly not a problem, so far, and the film has been on a full week now. We went to dinner with a neighbor couple last night and I drove. When we picked them up a comment was made that they could not see where my wife was sitting in the back seat until they got right up to the window. So that is good too. I did buy one of the window shade listed under "stuff" in one of your posts. That puppy was not cheap, so it had better be a darned good window shade.

Well, I hate to hear that. But, assuming you are not driving on your vacation, the car will sit anyway.

Here is a direct quote from @FordService: "I looked into it further and regardless of expiration, it turns out your model Fusion was ineligible for that offer. Sorry, man". I did not get my $750!?!?!?!?!?!?!? According to Ford, then, you guys are lying to me about getting $750 off on your cars.

Congrats on your new car Hewletttk. I've seen the black Ti and it is gorgeous. I trust you are as proud of yours as I am. Bobbie, I hope you brought yours home today too.
