  1. It looks like some of us will have to help bring our Ford service personnel through their learning curve on the Energi. Your guys just seem lazy.
  2. I feel like an update is in order. I drove my car about 60 miles, round trip, at around noon today with the temps just over 100 degrees. I drove the freeway in EV Later but switched to EV Now when I got into town and the engine ran off and on even though I was in EV Now. As I headed home, in EV Later, and about 10 miles down the road my windshield wipers came so I cycled the switch off and on and the wipers quit running...happily. When I got close to the house I had about 12 miles left on the EV battery so went to EV Now but the ICE remained engaged as long as power was needed to cool the batter, run the AC and acceleration was deemed necessary by the system. That continued to be the case all the way to the house, even the last two miles when I was going less than 30 mph. That is very unusual for me...first time ever. On top of all that when I plugged the charger into the car the green light came on the charger, blinked a couple of times and then went solid. The yellow charging light did not come. I unplugged the cord from the car and plugged it back in but got the same result. So I stood there scratching my head for a moment and decided to start the car while the charger was still plugged into it. As soon as I hit the start button the charging light came on, on the charger, and the car has been being charged for about a half hour now. Some strange goings on today!
  3. Yes, very weird. I was driving along today and my windshield wipers came on. I cycled the switch on and off and it never happened again though, thankfully. Welcome, by the way.
  4. Well I think that's just a load of crap, frankly! It's been over 90 degree here for weeks and the only time my ICE comes on is when I ask it to. And I assure you I am running the AC...on Max at times. And it's been over 100 degrees here for the past week, I might add. What I have noticed is that I am only getting around 18-19 miles in a full charge and those miles seem to melt away pretty quickly, especially if I am in a hurry and dare to enter the freeway to get where I am going or on the way home. Don't let them baffle you with BS because they don't have an answer to your problem, Earthdog. It's unfortunate but some service department will lie to you just to see if you will believe the lie. If it continues, ask to see your Ford service Rep and make him look you in the eye and tell you it's normal.
  5. Congratulations, you smooth talker you :hi5: . I'm shocked, frankly.
  6. Yeah, I have to say that I would be pretty disappointed with not being able to get my car to accept it's first ever charge. My delivering dealer didn't charge my car either and I was pretty unhappy about that too but, fortunately, I haven't any problems at all. I've read other posts that said their cars were not charged at delivery either so I guess my question to those Certified dealers is how do you know the car is performing properly if you don't charge it during the dealer prep? In your case, a problem would have been detected before you took delivery, as it should have been. If Ford is going to insist the cars are delivered through Certified dealers only then Ford needs to insist the cars be charged before delivery to the customer. It just makes sense.
  7. I agree with Russael, the dealer service personnel should never tell a customer they don't know what to do with new technology. Although I must say my local dealer (who is not "Certified") hasn't instilled confidence in me either, since this is my first Ford ever. Fortunately, I haven't had any major electrical issues like you have because it means a 40 mile, one way, trip for me to get to a Energi Certified dealer. However, Ford Service will be able to walk your dealer's service department through the steps necessary to get your car straightened out and I too think it's a simple matter of rebooting the vehicle. Keep us apprised of your progress.
  8. Well now, that's a different, but good, question. I have only seen one negative buyer of the Energi since I joined the forum last October/November and that person resolved his issues once they rebooted his car and everything started working properly for him. I have never owned a hybrid or driven one until I purchased my Energi. So for me, it's similar to not having sex until after you get married; because what I have is great, since I don't have anything to compare it to.
  9. Hi Flyer (pun intended), welcome to the forum. We look forward to your experiences and questions?
  10. These are pretty amazing figures, FusionEnergi! I'm struggling to stay between 100 and 110 MPGe and now my wife is beginning to drive the car which is not helping at all. I am going to have to educate her, one more time, on how to take the car out of EV Now and put it into EV Later. Sound simple? You don't know my wife, lol.
  11. You MUST have a Level 2 charger to use the 240V outlet. You cannot plug a Level 1 charger into a 240V outlet because the plug is different, so don't even try. The charger that came with the car IS a Level 1 charger. Mr Electric should have given you a quote when they were there so if they are dragging their feet I would suggest you call the new company that Ford has contracted with for the install. Then go from there. If you read some of the earlier post about chargers on this forum you will find some newer Level 2 charger that are less expensive than some of the earlier models but you may need to call your own electrical contractor to install them.
  12. It doesn't seem like many Energi's were sold nationwide, at 779 copies made through April, 2013, and unless they make some subtle changes to the exterior you will have a hard time telling the difference between the 2013 and 2014 models.
  13. Welcome to the forum younghov22! I bought the Ford L2 charger (over the Leviton at Home Depot) because the cost of the charger and the install through Mr Electric was about $200 cheaper, over all. I am completely happy with my decision. However, there are other chargers listed on this forum that are cheaper than the $800 I paid and those buyers seem happy with their chargers as well. Those that meyersnole listed are worth looking at too. Be sure you all read the posts about the different chargers and good luck on your decision.
  14. Good, I'm glad they stepped up and did the right thing in the end. All's well, that end well... ;)
  15. Thanks larryh, I knew it was something really simple. My forehead is sore from slapping it and saying, Oh duh!
  16. Hmmm, I'm not so sure about all of this. Where do I start? I am finding that I am getting better than EPA estimates on trips of 80 miles, or less. I started out getting around 46 MPGe but that has gradually increased to around 50 MPGe as my gas engine has begun to break in. I have done a lot more highway miles than I normally do on my first tank of gas and still hit the EPA rating of 100 MPGe, at around 102 MPGe, and my Lifetime MPGe is hovering around 70. The FFH may out perform the FFE, miles per gallon wise, on constant commutes of 100 miles or more but the FFE gives me more options all the way around than does the FFH. But I paid a lot for those options and that is where one must decide if the FFE is right for them.
  17. Okay, so how do I get back to MPG only? I unchecked instantaneous fuel but that didn't do it.
  18. How much do they want to change the window film out? Can't be much because it is easy to remove and reinstall. If you are paying for the swap go to a reliable, local, window tint shop. Their price will be far less expensive, guaranteed. I think my rear and back windows are around 20-25% and are just on the edge of being too dark during the day time and night time. But I use my side mirrors way more than I look out of my rear window. I doubt seriously your dealer installed the tint. Ask your salesman who they use and go directly to the installer. They will probably be more sympathetic to your needs then the dealer...the wretch.
  19. What screen do I need to view to see what my mpg's are, or what do I need to change? Since I changed everything to MPGe I don't seem to be able to see just mpg's.
  20. Welcome to the Ruby Red Club rspray...wish I had your dune interior. But I'm lovin' this car, no matter what. I just filled up for the first time @ 1051 miles and 10.284 gallons or 102.2 MPGe. I'm sure I will do better than that next time as I did a lot more highway miles than normal on this tank. Happy motoring Bud!
  21. Hi Neil, it's good to have such illustrious company join in the fun. This is my first ever Ford and my first American made car in 15 years as well. Welcome to the forum.
  22. Well pox on his black little thumb!
