Oh well, duh. I've never had a car with anything on the steering wheel but a horn so it never occurred to me to use the volume on the steering wheel. But I would have eventually gotten there. :baby:

No, not yet. Spent the day having the windows tinted. I really have not driven the car much with most of it being freeway driving. My mind spins with trying to figure out what is happening while driving...don't want to pile the think up, you know. One irritant is the dad blamed radio. If you don't watch where your fingers are when you go to turn the sound up or down and touch the screen just to the left of the volume knob you will cause the radio to scan and leave the song you just were trying to turn the volume up on to listen to. After a couple of times of that happening you become more careful of what you are doing though. I LOVE THIS CAR!!

Finally found the ambient lighting controls on the very last page of the Energi Quick Reference Guide. My head is swimming.
-
I don't know if this issue has been broached yet when considering larger wheels. I was just reading the owners manual, while looking for where the ambient lighting controls are, and ran across a note on page 67 that says modifying the vehicle ride height (eg, using much larger tires) may degrade the performance of the Automatic High Beam feature. There is a camera sensor centrally mounted behind the windshield of the vehicle that monitors conditions continuously to decide when to switch the high beams off and on. One more thing to consider. I never did find the ambient lighting controls though.

Where are the controls for the ambient lighting? I can't find them on the car or in the owner manual. I tried to post this in the other ambient lighting thread but this system would not let me do it.

Got My VIN/Build Week/Estimated Delivery Today

I took delivery late yesterday afternoon...got home at 9:08 pm. I'm pooped. But I'm a proud owner :shift: Tint this morning and will order molded mudflaps. Also had the Ford L2 charger installed yesterday, in the morning. Looks very clean. Pix of both as time allows :camera: -
So true, but, if I change the wheels out on my car they are going to be the same size and very close in weight to the original wheel...just better looking.

Kudos, I think that was a smart move on your part.

Even with a slight delay that is very good news. I'm excited for both you and Peter. -
Congrats, Taylorjd, it's been a long time coming. I almost feel like we're giving birth to a baby!!!! Here's hoping they get yours on a train quicker than they did mine. My car is SUPPOSED to be ready for delivery tomorrow, but I may need to put taking delivery off until Wednesday because Mr Electric will be here in the morning to install my charger and I have a pin hole leak in my water line going from the meter to the house and may have a plumber here too. When it rains....

I am going to try to have mud gaurds installed this week too. My guess is I will have to order them as well, even though my salesman has known about them for awhile now. I am supposed to take delivery on Tuesday of this week. We'll see. Their does not seem to be any rhyme or reason in how the factory does its scheduling...there are just too many variables involved. God forbid their short a suplier part while the car is on the line or your grand kids might be taking delivery. BTW, I was quoted 8-12 weeks. This week begins week 21. Maybe they just inverted the 1 and the 2.

Okay, okay. They're outta here. Unless they drop the price significantly I will just have the work done myself and I just don't like the idea of paying for maintenance up front.
-
Yeah, I am questioning my guy about all of this now. He said if I did not want the tint to let him know right away so he did not schedule it to be done. I'll check some local prices before next Tuesday. As for the film they apply it comes with a 4 year warranty, not lifetime like yours. The film does make the paint sparkle like a diamond in a goats ass though, to use a phrase my father use to say. What did you apply? The exterior film is also part of the interior treatment (Scotch-guard?) and the lifetime maintenance contract. These three items are all packaged together so it's hard to tell what costs what. I'm not at all sure I like the idea of paying up front for "free" lifetime maintenance that locks me into the Ford service department. Although I must say their being so close to me was one of the major reasons I am buying a Ford Fusion. It's convenient. Thank you for your suggestions meyersnole.

Residential Charging Stations -- Now what?

Thanks, again, murphy...knew I could count on you. What can I say, I went to school in California (no offense meant to you CA folks). -

No, I will likely never go back to a conventional car and, as I told Murphy, I can add the on/off switch myself. And, as he points out, for a whole lot less. However, at approximately 7.8 kwh's a year, that I think was estimated the charger would use while simply being on, at 13 cents per kwh, that I currently pay, equals about $1.014 per year. Then when you factor in that I have a solar system that produces excess energy every year, the cost to me is zero. So why beat myself up? In addition, I was reading an article recently that said Ford and two other companies were researching and developing a hydrogen fueled car for production that may be available by 2017. That is where my heart lies, if the technology is solid, and that would likely be my next car. But.... If I decide to lease this years car, I will probably keep it no longer then 3 years. In that case I will probably lease at least one more car before we get to the hydrogen powered cars. -

Yeah, I thought it was outrageous myself and thought Damien was trying to telling me he didn't want to do it. I know enough about electricity to do that part myself though, once he gets the charger installed. -

meyersnole, in general, are you using the ICE to get the car rolling and then let EV take over from there? I think I remember reading that tip somewhere. -

I'd say you have a couple of steps to go before checking the rail. First, the car needs to be built (a mandatory step) and then it needs to find its way onto a rail car. Then you can use the steps outlined so nicely by Tayorjd above. -

Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay FusionEnergi's car is on the way!!! The excitement mounts. -
My dealer puts a window tint (customer choice) and paint protection (vinyl?) package on all of their cars. It is more or less mandatory for $1,394 for the two. However, I negotiated that down to $994. I ordered the all weather floor mats with the car. That shark fin antennae looks great too and may keep a car wash from breaking the stock antennae off. I have to think about that one.

Electrical Input Input/Output Power: 7.68kVA lnput Voltage: 208/240 VAC Input/Output Current: 32A Required Service Panel Breaker: 40 A,double pole breaker (non-GFCI type) on on a dedicated circuit Output charging Connector: SAE J1772 EV connector on 18' (5.48 m) cable Above are partial specs for the 32A Ford L2 charger. They call for a 40 A breaker but Mr Electric has decided to put in a 50 A breaker in for some reason. He said why but I don't remember. See the full specs here: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=a9cf5f77e2ad295c&id=A9CF5F77E2AD295C!410&Bsrc=SkyMail&Bpub=SDX.SkyDrive&sc=Documents&authkey=!AKvnlvuK7sr_I5E. I copied these pages directly from Mr Electric's Installer Manual, provided to them by Ford. -

Both parts and labor were cheaper with the Ford L2 charger. The charger itself is $800 (but includes a breakaway mounting bracket, in case you try to drive off with the plug in the car charge port) and labor is $700. All plus tax. I think the labor is high and should be about the $350 you mentioned, but it was even higher for the Leviton unit (by about $365) because Mr Electric and Ford have an agreement on install prices for their charger. They want another $210 (approx) to install an on/off breaker next to the unit because, Damian (Mr Electric) said, he is installing a 50 amp breaker in the service box, which I am not going to do that because I figure it will be about a 10 year pay back for the switch. -

Being able to get exact gps coordinates is just awesome. What a tool! It would appear you will get your car this week and that's great. I was talking to my saleman about leasing terms a few moments ago and when I asked where my car was now, all he knew was it takes four or five days to get the car once it hits the ground in Phoenix. So it looks like next week for me and that fits in with the ETA. Speaking of leases, how long of a lease do you recommend? A two year lease or three? What residual percentage? And any other advice you might have concerning a lease.
