  1. Hello Doug, Welcome to the Forum! I owned my Energi from 2013 and just traded it in for a 2019 Prius Limited. The Prius is not a plugin, is smaller than the Fusion and the ride is not as quiet or as comfortable as the Energi was but it is loaded with options similar to the Energi and fits our needs for the way we are living today; plus the fuel mileage is great, for a hybrid. Anyway, the dealer didn't want my 240V Ford brand charger, made by Leviton, so I still have it and would like to sell it. Price is $300; let me know if you are interested. Wayne Green Valley, AZ
  2. Murphy, where did you buy your AGM battery. Will Ford install the AGM battery if I take the car to the Dealer or do I need replace it myself? What is the AGM battery number?
  3. I am pretty sure I found the negative post location thru another thread.
  4. Thanks Murphy. I have a battery charger, can charge the 12V battery with that? I can see the positive terminal under the hood but can't see or remember where the negative terminal is. Can you point me to it?
  5. Left the car plugged in to the charger while on vacation for 30 days. Unplugged the car, got in and the dash was lit but when I hit the start button the car went dark and I can't even open the trunk. The light ring is not lit. Hooked up the charger to the 12V and it shows charged. This happened once before in 2013 but it came back to life. Now I can't remember why it came back to life. Anyone else experience this issue?
  6. Welcome, Brian. I second the tinting of the windows idea. As dark as possible and make certain the film blocks the heat. Ask Murphy (Moderator) for help and I think he will be able to lead you in the right direction for the best bang for your buck. I live in Tucson and you have at least one other Forum Member that lives in Phoenix. I have a 2013 model and still get excited about driving the car. It's not nearly as hot here as in Phoenix but we still reach between 100 and 110 degrees, mid summer. It's just way cooler at night here than where you are, because we are at a higher elevation. Enjoy your ride, brother, your pride of ownership will, hopefully, exceed your need for speed.
  7. No, not where you are showing them. I had some chips on the little black strip in the rear bumper. To touch them up I would have had to drive 70 miles, round trip, and leave the car with a dealer in Tucson, because my dealer does not have a body shop. So I asked for some gloss black touch up paint and was told it was not available. Seriously???? No matter though I had it fixed when I was clipped in the rear end about six months ago.
  8. I have experienced that same issue several times over the past year. It just seems the car gets out of sync and doesn't "see" that you have plugged the car in so I have learned to ALWAYS wait until I see the charge ring flash, I hear the charger click and see the charging indicator light on the charger flashing before I walk away from the car. What has worked for me when the car does not accept a charge right away is to get in the car and hit the start button, with the charger still plugged into the car, and the car should immediately accept the charge. Turn the car off once it has accepted the charge and everything should return to normal after that. I have missed those signs a couple of times and have had to leave on an empty battery because of it.
  9. Welcome, Todd. You don't indicate where you live so let me tell you my experience here in AZ. I have solar on my house too and before I bought my Energi I was overproducing energy by about 3,000 kwh's a year and was banking energy every month. Last year I used all of the energy I produced and had to purchase a little bit more for about two to three months, if memory serves. And I only drove about 11,000 miles last year. So there is no free lunch. The way I see it is my utility company only pays me about 2.5 cents per kwh that I put back into the grid, so I would much rather use the power I over produce than let the utility company screw me. It's much less expensive than buying gasoline. I also have a 220 charger and most days I use it two to three times a day. For me it's very convenient. Happy motoring.
  10. Scott, I have a 78 mile round trip I make that is 90% highway @70-75 MPH, on one charge only, and I get between 50-55 mpg. So I would say you can get close to that if you charge on both ends. Save your battery miles for when you get off the highway. In general, the hybrid battery will get you through the stop and go traffic. I am going to guess you will get 39 or 40 mpg with the hybrid on that commute.
  11. I had the "check engine" light come on a few months ago so I made an appointment to have my dealer check it out. By the time I got to the dealer though the light went out and I was told, by a Service Writer, that the car does not record (or store) a fault code so I would have to wait for the light to come on again and bring the car back. That was a bit irritating. The light has never come on again.
  12. Well, I'm a bit partial to the color you chose (we get more complements on the beauty of the color then we do questions about its performance), but you will love learning how to PLAY with the car to maximize your Energi results. Well to the forum!
  13. Thanks for the tip. I see this message all of the time, especially if I am parked and want to listen to the radio (waiting for the little woman to shop); I have to turn the car on to do so and that irritates me. I'll give your tip a try.
  14. I second the thought of a "How to" thread. The flaps look as good painted as I had envisioned them to be. Do you think the paint will crack or chip over time, since they are hard rubber? Regardless, nice job!! :clapping:
  15. I hope the painted mudflaps turn out great looking for you! I wanted to do that too but three body shops I talked to turned their noses up to the idea and didn't recommend it. They look good just the same. However, I would love to see some pix once you get them installed.
