Recall issued: 2019-2020 Fusion Energi - BECM Fire Risk
68mustangjim replied to EnduroDad2k's topic in Batteries & Charging
From 1977-2007 I was a Master Certified Partsman. I bought my 2014 Fusion PHEV used in 19 about 70,000 first shock on battery charge was not 19 MPGe but learned new word battery degradation. Its a legal term tough baloney for battery capacity. I was still getting 10 -12 MPGe my all in was 52 mpg so I enjoy the car. Bamm check engine light came on. Reader showed PODAD cel balance took it dealer for new cord charger and Modem got screw on that and the dealer new exactly what there doing on WO no part number they had replace it work for 2 years till ATT shut down 3G anyways dealer says that will be $495 to look at car. I continue to watch Battery die I mean degradation further and further. I kinda thought there would be a recall I was both right and wrong the recall was limited to 2019-2020. As I mention work history I research HV battery Pack and BECM 2013-2017 or 18 were the same 7.4kw 2019-2020 went up to 9 kw both still had 84 cells and most important BEMC for 2013-2020 but the early cars were screwed. Then March 2024 driving home from work early afternoon I start at 430am going freeway speeds the RED triangle of death comes on thank god electric power steering I was in the middle lane turn signal I pull over to side of freeway. I would have thought there had been a fire but no smoke but the time pulled over the chemical smell was terrible when I tried to re start no luck called ERS for tow truck got car home. Attempted to file claim under comprehensive the basis of electric fire was turn down instantly crank up my attempt the finally agree to tow vehicle to a ford dealer and get a profession exam dealer says no fire bad HV battery pack, Climate module and interior heater coil. oh I almost forgot key fob battery was low thank god they advise me I also had open recall I door latches, shift cable, air bags brake light switch all simply item I decline the major repair forgot my other wallet with wads of cash I was 8,000 miles less than 2 years. They refuse to do any recall work saying car needs to be running. My adjuster did ask the all work be photograph they didn't. I ask for a copy of work order and estimate for battery replacement but was inform rudley that they had not been paid so I could not have copy that was my cue got care home ask again for WO and estimate for battery replacement again finally was email one. But still no estimate but in reading email say a price for Battery $10,389.16 plus tax and shop supplies. This not a quote or estimate at all. Very sad customer service. Next day I get a ad to buy a new Ford hhhmmmm let me think................................. NOT Any one that has 2013-2020 let ford and dealer hear NTHSB also keep a eye out for class action law suit -

how to replace male plug on fm58-10B706-AJ charger, HELP
68mustangjim replied to mjb's topic in Batteries & Charging
The unit is recalled see if dealer will ignore dog chewing and replace under recall. Ford usually does not and if they are going to they (Ford/Dealer) are going to dispose of it. the top photo is the recalled unit the bottom is the replacement same as Amazing E 220v chargers. (see other post) -
Just a thought 2013-2018 Fusion Energi generation 2 HV battery is rated at 7.6kw the 2019 Fusion Energi is rated at 9kw. I understand there is no physical size only better batteries. So my 2014 75,000 miles is only taken charges of 3.2 to 3.8 kw. and it calculate it that just fine. I think it should take advantage of the 1.6kw. Anyone that is currently waiting for a replacement battery please let me know what part number they have on order and/or install. Also what got you there to a replacement. What or how did it failed?

To the to Phoenicians at the beginning of this posting I also am in Phoenix 2014 Fusion absolutely sad that I can only get 10 to 12 miles out of a full charge I am fortunate to be able to park in a underground parking garage with 110 availability to charge the eight hours that I'm there working I would be curious to know more about your vehicle's mileage what types of KW on your charges November 10, 2019 Now the most I get 8-9 when fully charge 110 or 220 does not mater 1 time wrench came out produce a code PODAD battery balance circuit. I am lucky if I get a charge of 2.5.to 2.9 KW at the most.

Waiting for a replacement battery
68mustangjim replied to TampaFusion's topic in Batteries & Charging
This is probably too little too late was Master Certified Ford parts man up until I left the industry and I was 7 yes a national back order part will time out after I believe 90 days I would assume that it's on emergency order what if there's none to be had there's none to be had I would be curious if you read this you know what the part number is off the repair order myself I would be taking the more direct approach and ask him is this going to be an updated part out of a 2019 or newer. When you get it replace and you post the part number from you work order also what was the defect that give you that warning light. -

Recover the 5 digit security code
68mustangjim replied to FusionNAZ's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Also the original dealer should be able to provide the codes also once you have proved you are the owner I did this in March 2019 with a Michigan dealer they wanted a copy of driver licence and current registration. In least than thirty minutes I had they codes (above method would not work I only had 1 fob) -
I had not actually tried trimming mine to fit into that molded relief in the foam tray below the trunk floor if I have some time this weekend I will take another look at it see if I have any ideas I use my charger so often that it never makes it back underneath there

I did build one with dryer and try and it does work. The thermal protection should not be an issue just don't cut original plug. The other video confirms that in the none ford version the 4th pin Interestingly, the ONLY difference between the NEMA 14-30 and NEMA 14-50 is the shape of the neutral blade. 240V EVSEs typically do NOT use the neutral, and in the instruction manuals of this one it’s specifically stated that the neutral is NOT used. Because of that, a person could actually CUT OFF the neutral pin and then have a plug compatible with both 14-30 and 14-50 outlets! I made mine with dryer cable 10-30 you can also use 14-30 14-50 plug but Amazing will only provide 16 amp at most.

Update built my own table less than $55.20 plugged it in it works fine. Vehicle has been charging for about an hour using a laser temperature device I checked the main connectors going into the actual charger they were between 77 to 78 degrees and the body of the charger vary abit between 89 to 96 degrees current temperature here at 11:40 in Arizona was 77 degrees hope this helps watch that video when the gentleman opens up the normal version of The Amazing e charger
