  1. Thanks for the reference posts and for the Caveat with using Torque. I'll read those posts. This is similar to what I had to do on my other cars and Torque. I downloaded some generic ones from their website but I also tried some custom PID's by searching forums, etc. Some worked but some others did not or gave results that did not make sense. I eventually gave up and stopped using Torque for specific PID's. Torque is great for logging though (with standard/working PID's). I also recently got an Autel Handheld scanner to diagnose a transmission issue with one of my other cars and it worked great. Was able to get specific manufacturer codes and able to clear them once the fix was in. On this one, you can also download specific Ford software but have not tried. The graphing sucks though since it's a handheld. I will look into FORSCAN too then. I see, so this sounds like it's a PC based program. So is the bus interference what is causing the issues mentioned above? I will look into it.
  2. In my area I don't think heat is really that necessary. Maybe a handful of times in the winter. So is FORSCAN the goto Scanner for this vehicle (i.e the one with the most comprehensive list of PID's and access to codes other than P codes? I have Torque app and Autel scanner but have not downloaded Ford specific software.
  3. Yeah, I knew it was just an estimate directly related to your driving style. In other words a "Guess O Meter" with increased awareness and availability of PHEV's and EV's, I think it would be great to have this comparison/report done. Still, that is very good even with the caveats of the Guess O Meter.
  4. This is what I had read: https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/coldweather.shtml Interesting. Honestly I never paid attention to my ICE's reduced efficiency in my winters which are mild compared to other areas. Not sure why but in the new toy I quickly noticed a 14 mile range recently with temps in low 30's vs the 18 I usually got with slightly warmer temps in the 40's to mid 50's. So 19 is your Winter minimum EV range?
  5. Where is the extra 2 kWh used for? Is it just reserved to keep the battery state of charge at a predetermined minimum level? Or is it reserved for Hybrid use? I assume the battery never gets close to 0 percent state of charge. I recently read that MPG's hit to ICE's cars in the winter is in the order of 10% to 15% though. For EV, and a PHEV HVB it seems to significantly impact the range way more than 10 to 15 %.
  6. Does it get warmer during the day? with that EV range/efficiency aren't you better off using gas?
  7. If you are getting the sign on the dash it means the car's computer is not getting a signal that the door has latched properly. Maybe you have a bad one. Do you have a way to get Body/Chasis Codes? Without those the best thing is to try to look for something that could be interfering the latch/switch mechanism or just replace the part and see if it solves the problem
  8. Funny thing is that I too have never used my battery pack in about 1 year on my cars but have used it to help others. what advantage do you get with this battery mod you mention?
  9. Nice!! I wish the range was 46 miles. :) I will definitely consider moving up in year once the time comes in a few years.
  10. I got a NOCO GB40 that saved me a couple of times already and was able to jump a big SUV. And since my commute on the FFE is about 46 miles RT, I got one just for peace of mind. Sounds like it fits the bill just perfect. any reason why you don't you keep it in the glove box?
  11. From reading a few articles I recall they have been adding standard options that used to be available as extras in the Titanium as the years go by. Is that the case? have not really paid attention. And the battery, it could be the same battery capacity but maybe they have just modified what can be accessed for EV mode. Ho what is considered a Dealer exec? How can you tell?
  12. So in my previous ICE car :) I always carry one of those battery packs you can use to jump start the car. In the FFE there is no starter and the car starts with the HVB correct? So is there any advantage to carry one of these emergency packs in your trunk/glove box? What is powered by the 12V battery?
  13. Duh, did not think to check there.I tried the site too you mention too but I was in a hurry and could not quickly figure out what was going on. Anyways I called Ford and asked. My build date was 3/15/16. I don't think I will hit 36,000 by then so I got until 3/15/19 for bumper to bumper.
  14. No sticker, Weird, I registered at owner.ford.com and they don't have a start date. Will try contacting them to see what's up or maybe visit my local dealer service dept
  15. Thanks, will check when I get home later tonight? Also is there a website that allows me to check how much warranty is left?
  16. I bought my first PHEV yesterday and had some questions. I had been for the longest time wanting a PHEV and had the Volt first in line. However, when I went to test drive I brought my family with me (wife + 2 teen age kids in high school). Well the volt did not go well. Space was very limited for everyone particularly in the back seats. Since I was at Carmax the FFE and its style caught our eye and after test driving it it was a winner. :happy feet: So after a few days we bought one. So now with the questions: #1 In my test drive, I did not notice a rattle that appears to be coming from the back side speaker area. Could not figure out yet where this is coming from. Hope this is an easy fix #2 Did not notice this either until more driving time but my rearview mirror shakes. Makes looking thru the mirror fuzzy/blurry. Not sure what the problem is. #3 I failed at charging it last night. I plugged it in around 9 pm and in the morning I had zero charge. ;) The plug did click and got the lights but somehow did not charge. Do I have to manually go into the cabin and enable something after plug in? How to check it is actually charging. Need to find me the manual. #4 What is the recommended app/website I can use to see charging times, schedules, etc? I quickly browsed and I recall there was one website that requested a lot of information but said I needed to have a upgraded modem. or something. Not sure If I have one. So before I send all these information for nothing I thought I check here. What is the best app and/or website to get? Anyways, sorry about so many questions. Hope I can get some answers from some of the veterans here. :noobie:
  17. Hi, I just brought home (yesterday) a 2016 FFE with 24k miles. My old car bit the dust and got this puppy. Just learning and reading about how to get the most of it.
