National Drive Electric Week: September 15 - 21, 2014
Taylorjd replied to Taylorjd's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Most of them are on the weekends. We combined ours with Poolesville Day this year, which give us a built in large audience from all over the area, allows us to be in the parade and adds lots of family fun and great food. Should be a great time. We would love more Fords! Register at: https://driveelectricweek.org/event.php?eventid=237 -

2013 Titanium Energi, 2 Months, 1700 mi, solid MIL lit
Taylorjd replied to snedecr's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I hate the location of all 3 right side buttons. My passengers hit them all the time. On the dash panel would be much better. -
Not Charging - "Flashing Ring of Death"
Taylorjd replied to Taylorjd's topic in Batteries & Charging
I did not have the check engine light (just the fault described above). According to Ford, the charging issue was covered in a bulletin posted to their service people. I think it was fixed with just a software update. Other then having to use gas (major issue ;-) for me) I think the not charging problem will not cause any damage, but the engine light maybe something else. If the dealer is certified for EV, they should help. You may want to connect with Ford Service (see post above). They called my dealer directly and I think that helped. My dealer then did a great job getting it fixed. -

I ended up doing the same thing with the same results. I was able to get it fixed the same day. Many thanks to Ford Service and Sheehy Ford of Gaithersburg. -
Not Charging - "Flashing Ring of Death"
Taylorjd replied to Taylorjd's topic in Batteries & Charging
I took my 2013 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium into the Ford dealer in Gaithersburg Monday. They did not know what the issues was but said the soonest they could look (setup a service appointment) was Friday. So I am going back Friday morning. Hope it is a fast fix, because I am going on vacation starting this weekend. -

Yes, thanks Murphy....now if they only new what it was. I am heading there now to see what they can do..crossing fingers. -
Has anyone had this issue? When plugging in my Ford Fusion Energi to a Level 1 or Level 2 charge I get a flashing ring port (I heard it called "the flashing ring of death") and it never charges. I am heading to the dealer this morning to see if I can get any help. [Video] http://youtu.be/UX-PZa2Wtzk On the inside display I see "Fault - Inside Car". I have had my Fusion for more then a year and I love my car. This is the first major issue I have had. I hate driving on gas so I need to get this fixed.

FYI: At least for SemaCharge, when PlugShare says "$0.55/hour for the first 4 hours, $10.00/hour afterwards", they mean parking not charging. If you get a full charge in 2 hours, but stay there for 6, you will be charged $22.20!

"TSB's"? I haven't done anything special.
-
Happens to me all the time. The reset works fine, but I wish there was not the issue.
-
FYI: Thanks....I have made good use of this tip :)

I got the mat from Ford, not a perfect fit and a bit loose, but covers and protects. So far no heat issues. For the front, I got WeatherTech Mats. Great fit, covers well for mud and spills. Back is all one piece, very nice.

I don't see any way to get just Vent on my 2013 Fusion Energi Ti. I say Climate.....Vent and it says Opening Climate Panel. When I try any combination of buttons, I always see my EV miles go from like 27 to 20.

What Level 2 Charger did you buy/install?
Taylorjd replied to jeff_h's topic in Batteries & Charging
I bought the 32 Amp Ford Charging Station (which really is a Leviton). -
Virginia to charge Hybrid, EV and PHEV owners $100 fee.

I hear that someone is running with the pledge to remove that $64. Seems like someone is listening. -
Ford's Leviton 240 volt charging station
Taylorjd replied to Taylorjd's topic in Batteries & Charging
To follow up. I ended up skipped going through Ford or the Geek squad and installing the wiring and outlet myself (would not recommend it if you are not comfortable or understand wiring). I went directly to Mr. Electric, who sold me a Ford charger at cost ($800), but charged me about $300 to bring it out, mount it and check over my wiring (They needed to make some profit). I did check w Leviton on the wiring who said: "The 240VAC home model that is applicable to your car would be the Ford approved Leviton made charger. This unit is gotten through Best Buy and installed by a Leviton contractor-Mr. Electric. But to answer your questions, the Ford unit is a 32A rated unit and will require a minimum of 8 Gauge wire. Since there will have to be a conduit from the breaker panel to your disconnect switch, I would recommend THHN wire in at least 8 Gauge. The breaker would have to be a double pole 40A and the outlet would be a NEMA 6-50R. All this is actually handled by the installer-Mr. Electric." Mr. Electric recommended using an 8 gauge wire as a ground wire as well. I went with 6 gauge wire for the two Hot wires (a bit over kill, but did not cost much more). I love the unit and it has been working well. -
National Plug In Day September 28 - 29, 2013

We had one Nissan dealer a our, providing test drives, but no Ford dealers (I know they were asked). I think the dealerships and manufactures keep missing opportunities to connect with the public in a positive and meaningful way. -

Need your help - Fusion Energi or Fusion Hybrid?
Taylorjd replied to Charlie3831's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I have a commute of about 15 miles one way, which means I can't get all way home with out going in the Hybrid mode. But when I drive real careful, I can make it with out using gas. And sometimes I take lunch near a charging station. 20 minutes gives me plenty of extra EV for the trip home. I have taken a number of long trips (over 150 miles one way) and found when I am drive all Hybrid, my mpg is between 45 and 49 mpg. Now using AC or Heat drops my EV range from between 26 and 29 miles to 19 and 25 miles. My life time gas use average is 140 mpg. Over the 5 months I have had the car, I have been to the gas station 3 times (just topping of on one of the times). I love my Fusion Energi and would highly recommend it for someone with short commutes. The only negative I see is the small trunk space, but plenty of back set room. I love the look, the high tech, the comfort, the drive, the silent running. And it is fun to be apart of the EV/PHEV community. -
Potential new Energi owner - have a couple of questions!
Taylorjd replied to jza80's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I have a fully loaded 2013 Fusion Energi Titanium, I love the car completely (except maybe the small trunk space). I think the lights work very well. On low beams it has a very dramatic cut off, where the road and sides are lit up and above that there is a sharp cut off to dark. Good for oncoming drivers and looks cool. The other thing I like is the auto high beams. They work better then any I have had before. Usually I get frustrated with auto high/low beams because the turn to low too late and back to high to late, the Fusion reacts very fast, even faster then I would in most cases. -
National Plug In Day September 28 - 29, 2013
Taylorjd replied to Taylorjd's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I think it is fine to state your MPG as what gas you are actually using. I actually never track my power use (just seems hard to do so). I do think it is important that prospective buyers know and can compare how much over all power the car uses (not sure how well MPGe does that, but I think it is a good attempt). For PHEVs, they should look at the EV range, the overall range and the MPGe and the Hybrid MPG (with of course the cars other assets or short comings). -
National Plug In Day September 28 - 29, 2013
Taylorjd replied to Taylorjd's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Yesterdays College Park PlugIn Day was great, I think all 34 cars showed. We had a few give-a-ways, free food and 2 free of charge level 2 chargers were available and good number of people interested in the cars came by. Sounds like today's Washington DC event will even be bigger with the press showing up.
