TCU Onboard embedded modem firmware update 1.4.4
Phatman replied to luckyleo's topic in 2017-2018 Fusion Energi
A quick update. I decided to try to reset the fuse to see if it works. It turned out to work for me. I hope that last. I do some where on this forum that it worked for only a few months and it would go dead again. The instructions to reset the fuse is in this forum somewhere. If you search fuse you should find it. Thanks again for your help. -

TCU Onboard embedded modem firmware update 1.4.4
Phatman replied to luckyleo's topic in 2017-2018 Fusion Energi
I have the same question. Except mine is out of warranty. They said only the dealer can up grade firmware. Has anyone try to DIY? -
Hi, I'm having problem with my charger too. It doesn't show the red triangle but it won't charge. The car keeps telling me that it had a fault. I tried to plug it in to different outlets and it still won't charge. I took it in to my dealership and they were able to charge it on their charger. Is there a fix for this or will I need a new charger( EVSE)? Thanks

Battery not charging, flashing ring of death

Also, I am assuming it's not under warrantee anymore because it's greater than 36k miles or 3years. -
Battery not charging, flashing ring of death
Phatman replied to Kbookhultz's topic in Batteries & Charging
I've been using the original charger. The outlet works for the past 4 years. I've not try to charge it on but 240v charger. I'll call to dealership today. I wanted to get input from the group before I bring it in. You guys have saved me money in the past like my TCU. They were going to charge me $800 to replace it but I found out from you guys it was going to be exchanged for free. -
Thanks. I think it's the ring of death. The charger is fine. I'll read through the thread you suggested.

Battery not charging, flashing ring of death
Phatman replied to Kbookhultz's topic in Batteries & Charging
Hello, I think I just experienced this flashing ring of death! Oh terrible! How should I approach this? I have a 2013 Energi. It's been working well for the last 4+ years. All of the sudden yesterday, it wouldn't charge. It gives me a faulty charge notice. Thanks for your help. -
Hey folks. I have a 2013 Energi which I have had for 4+ years, It has been working great until today it decided not to charge when plugged in. I get a text, which I set up to notify me, that said charge fault. Do you have any idea where I should start trouble shooting or do I need to bring it in? Thanks for your help. You all have been a great group to help with this vehicle.

12 volt Batery dead - Telematics Control Unit
Phatman replied to Phatman's topic in Batteries & Charging
I just got a letter in the mail from Ford today stating that they will replace the TCU modem for free of charge (parts and labor). Thanks Larry for this info. This saved me about $900. -

Is Meagan, the Ford Rep, still around this forum? Can she comment on the arrival of the 3G TCU? -

They are in the process of doing that now. I will call to cancel it and wait for the 3G TCU. Thanks! -
12V dead while plugged into HVB charger
Phatman replied to joeblow231's topic in Batteries & Charging
Hey Joe- what year is your car? There's been several posts about this. The battery drain could be from a faulty Telematics Control Unit (TCU) or faulty wiring in the trunk where the battery is located. If your car is under warranty I would take it in and have the TCU replaced. See my post on TCU that I just posted. Let me know what happens. Good luck -
So I experienced the 12 volt battery drain then no srart. Following tips from this forum, I was able to unlock the car jump the 12 volt battery and brought into dealership. I also brought along the TSB 16-0023 recommendations to the dealership. They tested and agreed it was the faulty TCU that caused the battery drain. Since my 2013 Fusion Energi is out of the 3 years/36k miles warranty, I have to fork out $910 for the fix. This is truly insane! After reading this forum, this is a known problem for the 2013 Fusion Energi. Why is there no a recall on this? I would love to hear from any of you who had to pay out of pocket for this. I love my Energi and even thinking about getting a second Ford vehicle because of my experience with this Ford product. I am now having second thoughts. Also, if there's a Ford Rep here in the Forum I would like your input on the no recall on this item. Thanks all for this fanstastic forum!

So the Ford Dealership quoted me $910 for replacing the TCU. Does this sound right? Why does it cost so much? -

Hey Murphy, I am experiencing the 12volt battery death. Can you post picture where to jump the battery? I found the positive terminal as you described but can't find the negative. Thanks! -
I found the build date for my car. It is 6/14/2013. So not the answer you posted but it's the same exact symptoms described. It's more like the left backside of the car. Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated. It looks like I should take it in to have the dealers mechanic look at it.

Yes! That is it. How do I check the built of my car? Thanks!

Hey all. You have been so helpful in the past so I'm coming to you again for a question/concern. I've been noticing that my 2013 Energi is making a creaking noise on acceleration from a stop position. It sounds like the chassis or suspension. I hear it everytime on acceleration, but some time on breaking or more like releasing the brakes. I've heard this similar noise on my 8 year-old minivan. It's a little concerning hearing this noise on a less than a year old car. Any thoughts would be aprreciated. I would think this is still covered under warranty. Should I take this in to be looked at? Thanks in advance.

Another update. The temperature here is now around high teens. The charge port door now working normally. Let's hope it will last. Thanks all for the input.

There's a person posting on this site with the name of FordService. Do you know if they are legitimate Ford representative?

I posted this in another thread: A quick update. I initially tried to warm the port door with a hair dryer. Thinking maybe it's frozen shut. It didn't work. I had just closed it 25 minutes ago from an unheated garage at work before coming home. I gave up trying to open it. Overnight temp got down to 3F. The next morning, the port door popped up but did not 'spin' open. I was able turn it open.
