OK, so I was driving my car today, in AUTO all electric, when I noticed by check engine light came on. My engine had not come on yet, wasn't even close to it. When I got to my destination, I got my OBD2 reader out and read the code P0405. It looks like this is the error: http://www.obd-codes.com/p0405 I don't understand why this would fault when I'm in all electric mode. It looks like I will have my first service.... ugh! I hope this isn't a sign of bad things to come with a technologically advanced car. Has anyone else had a check engine fault yet?

I like Empower better, but it does NOT tell you how much electric you are drawing from the battery vs. the power coming from the engine. An easy way to see this is to drive in the AM after a full charge... then while you're on the road like a HWY or something, turn on EV Later.... the engine will turn on, but the will warm up the engine. When you're in Empower, you'll see the blue box which tells you at what point the engine will turn off, which is cool.... but you can't see the fact that when you immediately go into EV-Later, the blue goes away and it looks like all the power is coming from the engine, when it is in fact not, the battery is still being drawn while the engine warms up. You can easily see this by toggling the Empower view vs the Engage view. The empower is all white with the blue box (which is the cut off), but no indication of blue for electric battery power. When you toggle to Engage, you'll see the blue is actually powering the car and a very small amount of engine, until the engine warms up. What I wish they did was split the white line, so that it shows blue for the power from the battery when it is in fact drawing part from the battery, and white for the rest when it is drawing from the engine. Sometimes the car uses BOTH together, and you just can't see it in Empower...

The SCE time of use rate plan is ridiculous. Basically you get a break for off-peak, but as soon as you hit 12 KWh on the day (which starts at midnight), you'll be paying $.33 / Kwh during the NON-Peak hours, and then $.51 / KWh during the PEAK time. So if you plug your car in at midnight to get the "super off peak" time at $.09, you'll eat up all of your Tier 1 before you're done with breakfast, then you're paying $.33 or $.51 / Kwh, which is HIGHER than the highest rate you'll ever pay with the normal plan. So basically with this plan I have ZERO incentive to NOT plug my car in whenever I please... which is what I do.... lame. I called them on this and asked why they did it this way... the rep had no idea. If they started your day at say 6:00 AM, then it actually makes sense, because you'd have your car charged in the middle of the night (which is what they want) and then I'd have the full Tier 1 to work with for the day at our house. This would incentivize me to save and plug the car in at night... which is EXACTLY what they want. I've explored the two meter scheme too.... I may do that, but I just read in small print, that I if you go the two meter route, you can't do solar with the two meter setup.... UGH! All of this is so frustrating. In the meantime I've tried to get my regular house bill lower.... all my lights are LED in the house, etc... I keep telling the kids to turn off the computer and TV when they are done.... I'm trying to see how low I can get my regular electric bill down before I do anything. I think the PGE time of use plan is ALOT better than SCE....

So I really like the Empower view when driving, especially when in EV later mode or when in hybrid mode because you can see the electric only threshold with the battery. This is good because you can adjust so that you can get into electric mode. What I don't like about this view, and where I think the Engage view is superior, is that if the gas engine is on, and the car is using BOTH electric and gas, the Empower is all white, but it doesn't give you any idea how much of your power is coming from the gas engine and how much is coming from the battery. The Engage view shows you both the gas and electric separately. Basically I think what would be best is a combined view using the Engage as the model, but still showing the electric portion and the gas portion separately so that you can see how much of each you are using. Have any of you thought about these displays? What display do you prefer?

Ok get ready for an HOV horror story. I love my car but I am very frustrated that I still don't have my HOV stickers at 6 weeks. Due to an apparent clerical error by the dealer, I won't be getting HOV stickers any time soon. The dealer fouled up the title and registration under propulsion set it to G instead of Q. So now because of this the DMV won't send me the stickers, and it is now my responsibility to fix it. Even though there is NO paper title, it's an electronic title they can't just fix the record at the DMV, and because I financed the car, but paid it off, I have to wait until the bank releases the title to me, then go back to the dealer to get a statement of fact for (reg 256) then send it all back in.... So I probably won't get these stickers for another month at best. When I told the dealer they weren't even apologetic.... I'm actually really pissed that I have to deal with this because its nothing I should have known. Moral of the story....MAKE SURE the dealer doesn't register the car as gas!!!!! My other concern now is if my $1500 CA rebate check will get held up, although I did hear I was approved.... The VIN has the fuel type encoded, so apparently the alternative energy project is better organized against this problem than the DMV is..... So frustrating!!!!!

At what point is it cheaper to use gas?
surfandswim replied to Energized's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Our tier 4 rates are .31/kwh. I am planning on adding the second meter...after installing the second meter I'll be able to get .11/kwh. Basically to do that you need to replace your metered panel with a dual socket panel -
Exactly....except the purchase manufacturer rebate is 1500. I bought my Energi in June, took the dealer sale price, the 1500 manufacturer discount and will get the 3750 tax credit on my taxes. In CA you can also get a 1500 rebate from a state renewable energy program but you have to apply for it online. I did a few weeks back have my 1500 CA rebate reserved filled the paperwork but have not received the check yet

I love my Energi SE. My expedition is 13 years old, going strong and keeping it. My SE had nav, moonroof, driver assist, rear sensing. MSRP 42480. Dealer took 3990 off that. 1500 Ford Rebate took the price down to 36,990. In CA I will get 1500 for Green project and 3750 in Fed tax. So after all that I'll have paid under 32K. Over 10 years I should be able to save 25K in Fuel over my Expedition at $4 per gallon and $.12 per Kwh. New technology or not, we'll keep this car and get a new one when my wife's 2007 Vovlo wagon dies.

Post your Ford Fusion Titanium purchase Price

Got an SE with Moonroof, Nav, Driver Assist, Reverse Sensing. MSRP 42480. Dealer sale 3990, plus 1500 ford rebate. My price 36990. In CA we get an additional 1500 rebate plus the 3750 Fed so the net price after rebates will be 32K. I think I got a fair price it was better than the X plan price. Maybe I could have squeezed another 500 to 1000 but that's a maybe. -
Additional Incentives for Energi
surfandswim replied to larryh's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
bought mine on 6/13. Energi SE...Nav, Moonroof, Driver Assist, Reverse Sensing...MSRP was 42,480. Dealer sale discount, $3990, plus $1500 rebate, $36,990, plus a LoJack they had in it. 795. So with LoJack I paid 37,785. I hope that was a good price. After I get my 3750 federal and 1500 CA rebate the price will be $32,785. -
Thanks guys...I think I will get it checked out sometime soon...I'm with you though...it makes the car sound like the Engine is on. Fortunately for me living in So Cal I can have the AC off. One other thing I noticed is that if I just run the fan the AC in off, it's still cooling significantly. I think there is a bug in the AC off, because my climate control usage doesn't go down much when this happens. I've noticed that when the AC is really off and only the fan is on the power use on the climate is way low.

I have closed mine and come back to see it open a few times. I think the latch on it is not designed well. Hopefully this won't be a problem in 2023 when my Energi is 10 years old!

I have had my Energi for about 3 weeks now...really like the car! One thing I noticed when I start the car is the AC and the fan are very noisy. With the AC and fan off there is a hum when you start the car for 10 seconds, that seems normal, but the AC and fan seem very noisy to me. Anyone else experience this?
