  1. Hello John, Thank you for your questions in your post. If you buy the splash guards from a Ford dealership, they will be the right part numbers as listed above. The dealer's guards will have all the hardware and instruction sheet as well. The hardware consists of a package of screws and clips. In the rear for example, the push pin center pin is removed and the screws go through the splash guards and into the base where the pin itself was removed. One of the clips holds the tab of the guard onto the fender liner on the inside. Since I didn't buy the guards from a Ford dealer, the hardware was not included. I didn't like how they fit when reusing the push pin bases and my provided screws. So, I opted to remove the entire push pin, base and all. Next, I installed some threaded inserts (the Marson tool I have calls these Nutzerts) I used 8/32 size and the factory holes in the plastic fender (where the push pins were removed) were slightly over 1/4 inch in diameter. I next used some 8/32 x 1 inch screws into the guards and then into the threaded inserts. There is a bottom tab in the guard that lines up perfectly with the forward screw that holds on the black plastic piece that fits up behind the rear fender liner, so the original screw is reused there. They fit perfectly now and really help to keep the junk off of the rear lower fender. I will post some pictures soon of the final install. Plus, I will post how I installed the front guards (they fit on much easier) Cheers! Oh, forgot to answer your questions about drilling holes. I added one hole on the inside where the tab mentioned above would have been held on by the above mentioned clip. Since I didn't get the Ford dealership guards, I opted to just add another nutzert on the inside and another 8/32 screw. So to get right to it, no drilling is necessary if you get the OEM guards from the Ford dealer and use the included hardware. Not sure of the fit though like mentioned above.
  2. Ok. Problem solved. Turns out the set I bought were mis-marked. A visit to the dealer cleared things up. The OEM guards do fit the 2017 but had to use different mounting hardware and install methods.
  3. Hello, I just purchased a set of OEM Ford splash guards (front and rear) for my 2017 Energi. The specs for mine say 2013 through 2017 and all fusions for those years. After some digging, I have found many places (ford dealer websites mostly) show the same stock numbers fit 2013 through 2016 only. My question is this- Has anyone been able to find and install a molded type splash guard for their 2017 energi? The part numbers I am working with are - DS7Z-16A550-AA Front Fusion DS7Z-16A550-CA Rear Fusion DS7J-X16A262-AAW Front Mondeo DS7J-A28370-AAW Rear Mondeo Thank you in advance for responses.
  4. Hello, We am new to this forum and are learning new things about this interesting car every day. One new but unsettling revelation is what carfax (and more importantly our insurance company) reports our Platinum model to be. Using our VIN number, our 2017 Platinum Energi shows up as a Titanium model. The reason for the concern is that a valuation by anyone, especially our insurance company that is roughly $5K less (Titanium vs Platinum) could come back to haunt me and my wife if something serious were to happen to the car and the insurance company's value was considerably lower due to this problem. Some information so far: We (my wife and I) received a copy of the Carfax at the time of purchase. I looked it over to see if there were any anomalies that would prevent us from buying this car (used but in very good condition with approx 8K miles) I missed the fact that Carfax listed it as a Titanium and not a Platinum. Once we saw that on the Carfax (later after purchase) we were concerned that should we decide to sell the car for whatever the reason, it surely would be valued less due to the difference in model levels. It didn't become a real concern until the insurance company issued our proof of insurance papers listing our Platinum as a Titanium, That's when we re-looked at our Carfax provided by the dealer. Sure enough, '2017 FORD FUSION TITANIUM PHEV' is what shows up on the Carfax. When asking the insurance company about the VIN and how it may affect us, the general answer we got was unless the car was totaled or stolen, this wouldn't be an issue. We take that to mean it could be an issue under at least those two circumstances. Reason for great concern now. Next, for some research: We called Ford Motor CO and spoke to a knowledgeable representative. He said our car was indeed a Platinum (using the VIN) and that if there were a problem with it being reported as a Titanium, that was created by the dealer when it was registered initially. The Ford rep went on to say that the dealership would be the one to correct the error in the sub-model level. FYI - nowhere on our copy of the original window sticker does it have the word Titanium. The Ford rep pointed that out as well since he looked it up on his end. A subsequent call to the dealer, led us to being transferred to the senior sales manager, who said that there was not a problem. When asked about the concerns we had he said, yes it is a Titanium with a trim level of Platinum. There is nothing we need to do about it, he said. His suggestion was to get a copy of the window sticker to show that it is indeed a Platinum model. I have sent a request on a form provided by Carfax itself, to get the model designation corrected. As of the time of this post, I have not received a response yet. On the title work provided by the dealer, the car was listed as a gas model and not a PHEV. FWIW, the county clerk had to reissue a second title showing it was a Hybrid plug-in vehicle as they said this would show up on our state registration paperwork and may allow for some breaks in the use of our vehicle (I.E. using certain car pool lanes for example) Our car is listed simply as a 2017 Ford Fusion with fuel as 'Z' which stands for plug in Hybrid. No trim level shown. We are OK with that, at least it isn't listed as a Titanium by the state. We are asking for help with this matter in this forum. Has anyone here that has a 2017 Platinum Energi model (available first in 2017) noticed their car was shown as a Titanium model instead? Please check and see if your insurance company (or Carfax) reports your Platinum Energi as a Titanium Energi. Thank you very much, Dana and Marilyn in Colorado
