  1. I think you're right, Frank. It amazes me the modem technology would affect the app, but I know it must given the major app problems going from 2G to 3G. When they weren't ready, they took the easy way out and didn't even consider their customers. IMO, anyone within the bumper-to-bumper warranty - like you - should be covered at no cost. I found the directions on how to swap the modem, complete with color photos, in case anyone wants to self-install. Assuming you can get the modem amid this chip shortage. I only found out about this change (with the app de-commissioning in just three weeks) today when I got a push notification.
  2. Yes, after more digging I think you're right. Their press release is more than misleading: it's just plain inaccurate (or a lie if you're as annoyed as I am right now). The Energi is a Titanium model; the press release says: "Fusion SE and above models now include a standard embedded 4G LTE modem providing Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices." What you wrote is the only explanation for why the dealer notice posted earlier in the thread calls out Energi models from 2014-2020. You'd think they could put the same upgraded modem in the most expensive model they sold. Also, eliminating the "value charge" feature on a plug-in shows the disregard they have for their customers. My condolences to the longer-term owners who already experienced this circus from 2G to 3G in ~2017. I had a free replacement on my 2016 model; I certainly wasn't expecting it AGAIN on my 2019. 4G has been around since 2010 so it's not like it's cutting edge...
  3. Just one question - if I don't upgrade the modem, will the "value charge" function still work or will the car always start charging the moment I plug it in? That's really the only thing I care about. When my 2016 Fusion Energi had to be upgraded from 2G to 3G, this feature got really janky but I made peace with it when I got my 2019 Fusion Energi and saw it wasn't any better. Ford has been really short-sighted with all of this. Almost makes me reconsider selling my fresh-off-lease car for a premium if I can find a good replacement. I just love everything else about this car. Edit: According to the 2018 press release announcing the 2019 model, all 2019 MY and beyond should already have a 4G modem in them. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2018/03/20/sleeker-smarter-2019-ford-fusion.html
  4. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check the circuit. The outlet worked fine for a year, so it seems odd it could be at fault. Also, it only charges from 11pm ~ 5am when we're sleeping and nothing big is running. Even the furnace generally kicks on only around 5am (but I'll have to watch if it happens when it's colder outside). FWIW, last night I set the "charger" on top of the outlet box so it didn't dangle and it charged to 100%. I don't know if it was a coincidence, so I'll try that again for a few days to see what happens. I couldn't get an appointment with the dealer (need my modem replaced too) for a couple weeks; I have time to test a few things out.
  5. My car has 11k mostly EV miles. I use a Level 2 charger at work every day and 120V outlet at home during the night. I can charge fully at work with no problems. The last few days it only charges about halfway at home. In the morning the charger is flashing the amber outlet-shaped light. The outlet I'm using is grounded, has a cover over it to keep it dry and had been working fine since it was installed when I got the car a year ago. Any ideas what's going on?
