From the manual...."For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather...." So, apparently, you can get away with using 87 octane rating, but there are advantages to moving up to 91 or higher octane rating. I wonder if there's a knock sensor or something similar that, for example, keeps a more advanced ignition timing setting for better performance that would create knock using 87, but doesn't using 91. Is that what it boils down to?

Interesting. I hear the whine with windows up. I also hear it from both the electrical and ICE. So, I'm thinking it's the tranny versus the electrical motor.

The EV Now setting seems redundant. Whenever you put the setting to Auto it automatically uses the EV first until it's discharged anyway. What am I missing, here?

When using the Sync3 system, I can get an overview of the power distribution (side view profile of car showing the power going and coming) by going to the apps. However, if I plug in my iPhone and go into CarPlay, that option disappears. Does anyone know how to display the power distribution screen while you're in CarPlay? Thanks in advance. John

You mentioned in your first post that you bought splash guards, but not from the dealer. So, you bought the factory splash guards, but not from the dealer? Is that why the hardware wasn't included? Or, were they aftermarket splash guards? If so, why didn't you get the OEM ones? Not to be nosey, but I was curious.

Okay. Thanks!!

I bought a used 2014 FFE-Titanium last October. My wife always commented how quiet the car is when we're driving in EV mode. Well, I liked the FFE so much, that I leased a new 2017 FFE-Platinum a month ago. Both my wife and I noticed that the 2017 makes a louder whine noise that seems to be coming from the drivetrain than the 2014 ever did. It's still there when using the ICE, but not as noticeable due to the engine noise,The 2014 had 40k miles on it and, of course, the 2017 has just 1k. Has anyone else experienced a noticeable drivetrain whine? I'm assuming it's from the transmission, since it's present in all modes. Is that something that gets better with mileage? Thanks in advance for any and all help. John

Actually, I'm not sure about either the time or speed. I will certainly make a note of it on the way home from work, today. But, this just started happening. A few days ago, I'd be at a complete stop as I'm transitioning from backing out of a parking place to shifting to drive and moving forward. The display would immediately shift back to the infotainment system. This is what has me concerned. Is there a place to turn the delay on and off? I might have accidently turned it on, as I've been getting to know the infotainment's system and going through the menus and screens, etc. Edit: I did a quick check on the internet and learned about the rear camera delay setting. I may have inadvertently turned it on. Thanks for your help, guys!!

For the last few days, whenever I backup to leave a parking space, the rear view camera is shown on the display. But when I then shift into Drive and start moving forward, the camera view stays on! I can keep driving and see what's behind me!! So, it's still broadcasting live. The only way to turn it off is to place the knob in Park, then the regular screen comes back. I turn it to Drive and everything's back to normal. Has anyone else had this problem? I wonder if it's due to the new rotary knob shifter???

I usually checking my Brake coach when I come to a complete stop. And, I usually note the final score when I have arrived at my destination and shut the car off. I'm still not sure which braking technique leads to higher scores and more efficient regeneration. I've noticed that if I wait to the last second to start braking and brake harder than normal, the score is around 60%. However, I seem to get that same score when I start braking much earlier. Then, seemingly out of the blue, I'll brake and get a score of high 90's? Has anyone discovered the best braking technique for the highest score?

Newbie question. I was playing with my car's infotainment system. I noticed on one screen it allowed the car to get on a local wifi. What's the purpose for that? What can I download? Updates? Thanks in advance

Yes. I did mean right side. Sorry. Maybe I was just confusing it with my 2013. I always liked the time and temp there, since I could always find it. Sometimes the big screen moves the location of the time display and doesn't display the temp, depending upon which screen you have showing. Thanks.

Ok. Thanks guys.

Does anybody know what this sensor is used for? I was thinking about getting a dash cover, but thought it might affect this sensor (or whatever it is.) Thanks

This is on the left side screen, on the lower end. The readout is now "Range". When I bought the car it displayed the "Time". (Unless I'm confusing it with my 2014.) Does anyone know how to control what information this readout displays? Thanks
