It's AT&T who forced the change, not Ford. The old 2G network will be completely shut down by the end of the month. The problem is not with the modem unless you got a defective one. On Star upgraded everyone 2 years ago. Ford waited until the last minute. Every time anyone upgrades anything there's always folks whining about it. If we listened to them we'd still be living in caves and chasing game on foot. MyFordMobile no longer worked at all on my cars until they were upgraded to 3G modems. As a bonus, you can now create a hotspot with your car that actually works, but at 3G speed of course. Try some troubleshooting and remember, just keep your horse between you and the dirt and things will be OK.

It's hard to believe just how awful a company can be until you try to get help from Ford. After verifying the 2G issue and that my car needed the update then waiting for weeks for my dealer to get the part. Ford said try another dealer. The other dealer said Ford says the update has already been done and will not provide the part. The first dealer agrees it says it has not. I call Ford and they they don't see a problem and "the program is still open on this vehicle" and said they would check and call me back. Three times I've called and they never call back. I've talked to customer relations and they don't see a problem and can't help me. Who can I talk to to get this resolved?

Thank you, but I'm not stupid! The dealership agrees. When I look at the history of the car, it doesn't show installed. They show they did not install the modem Ford mobile does not work except in 2G areas, which are fewer and fewer. More time wasted.

Stuck by a crooked dealer... I got a runaround for weeks from my local dealer, Downtown Ford in Sacramento, about getting the part. Now, when I took it to another dealer, it shows the modem was already installed. Seems I got screwed by DT Fraud and Ford says tough luck, no modem? Ford case # CAS-11104869-C8R9X4

I was able to have one car updated with no problem. Now after waiting 2 weeks, the dealer says Ford is rejecting the second car because it is not eligible. Ford corp. says it is eligible, to try another dealer. Tried a second dealer and they said they check and would call me back. They never did. Any more ideas?

I had one car done and this week hopefully the second one will be done. The dealer has to order the part and it can take awhile. It will be nice to have myford mobile working in both cars. A great thing about the new 3G modem is that when you create a hotspot and join the network you can actually browse the internet. It's very slow, but it works. (I filled up one of our cars today. Wow, I'm glad I don't have to do that very often! )

Myfordmobile has been hung for a month now on "Cancel Authorization in Progress". No one can help. The dealer replaced the modem with 3G so now it sees my car. NOW myfordmobile won't let it charge and once again no help. After resetting and adding my car back, myfordmobile is still hung. The ap is set to charge now but it keeps saying waiting to charge ansd resetting the time it will start charging back 10 minutes. There must be some way to get around this. Nothing on the ap works because it's hung. Hoow can Ford design something so badly? The issue with the ap seems to be in Ford's computers.

The upgrade didn't fix the problem. Is there any support available anywhere? The idiots in phone support don't have any info. The Myfordmobile is stuck on "Cancel Authorization in Progress" for a month now. Pulling the fuse deletes the car but adding it back, I get the same message and nothing comes up on the car to authorize like it used to and Nothing comes up in the app like it did before. I even had the modem updated to 3G. I guess the program is just trash. There's probably something that needs to be done on the "backend" at Ford, but nobody knows anything.

All the folks with onstar were upgraded years ago. Why did Ford wait so long? As to battery mileage, one of my Energis is over 100K and still does 20 miles just like my other one with 72,000. In California and some other states, the warranty goes to 150,000.

Detroit does indeed have a few spots of 2G left on the northeast side. I'm happy for you (smug?) 2G survivors, but the point is moot. In the coming weeks it will all go away. Ford has known about this issue for 4 years and done nothing. In a few months only the Lincoln Folks will have MyFord Mobile. Rumor has it that Ford will begin to make updated modems available to Ford owners, but the Lincoln program is far behind schedule, so who knows.

When you look at AT&T coverage maps, like this one http://www.sensorly.com/map/2G-3G/US/USA/ATandT-Mobility/gsm_310410/New+York#q=Miami%2C+FL%2C+USA|coverage 2G is in blue on this map. You'll see very few spots of blue in most areas. Attached is the New York City area. There's not much blue left. In major metro areas 2G is almost gone. You can feel smug about being one of the few lucky ones, but your time will come soon, December at the latest. Ford has known about this since 2012 and done nothing. Other car companies have moved to 3 or 4G modems.

At this time, AT&T has completed much of the shutdown of their 2G networks. It seems the myfraud mobile system is down now for all 2G folks. :( RIP, it was handy while it lasted. And Ford is still advertising myfraud mobile to market their cars! :nonono: I understand the 2017s will be the first with 3G. :banghead:
