  1. I have found that despite a setting of 72, if its below 70 outside the car must somehow be using the heating function. 85° and a setting of 72 has very little effect. 72 and a cooler temp and i watch the miles tick away about every half mile
  2. The only thing holding me back from getting a new Platinum is the brown only interior. Dont want brown seats and trim. The only difference between my car and the Platinum is the better seats, sucks they dont offer different colors.
  3. Do riddle me this.....with all this talk of proper/improper charging, proper driving, battery degradation....why dont hybrid batteries experience the same issues with degradation? Whats the difference whether the battery pack is getting charged by a gasoline engine or a cord plugged into an outlet? Therefore a regular 'ol hybrid battery is in constant charge/discharge everytime the car is driven and most likely within a "hot" driving cycle. Arent people with regular hybrids getting long life out of their cars and batteries? With that said, 56045 miles on my car. I drive the car like its a .....car, i dont granny it. I plug it in when i get home daily, let it charge and sit until the next morning. My estimated range given was 20 miles this morning. I drive the same route day after day and the trip gauge shows the same mileage and EV miles as when i got the car. My average MPG has stayed consistant. Am i just lucky or is there really not a whole lot an individual driver can do to wear down the battery?
  4. I have gotten compliments which always feels odd, i mean it is just a Ford. But the big difference is you get low 40's MPG in a well equiped nice car. I had a co-worker brag about how his Nissan Versa got 40mpg, but the car was shit, crank windows, shit seats and the doors felt like i could literally kick my way thru them. So yes, there are cars that get better mileage than our Energi, but they are crap cars. Whenever i try to explain my Energi i dont focus on those 18-21 EV miles because to the majority of people thats a joke. I try to focus on the overall gas mpg's.
  5. And then the realization sets in that those EV only miles saved you about $1.00 in gas. Its all smoke and mirrors with those estimated EV miles the car gives you. This car isnt about EV miles, its all about your avg MPG's. Your essentially driving a car able to achieve low 40's MPG. The focus on the EV miles and how they are acheived is kinda silly. Just drive it and be happy with it.
  6. NOOOO!!!!! Dont use your a/c or heat!! Dont go over 45mph!! Dont play your radio with the volume more than halfway!! Dont use your wipers in the rain unless absolutely necessary!! You've been warned!!
  7. I still havent had mine replaced. This just gives me more reason to not get it done along with the fact that even the new ones arent always working properly. Seems Ford jumped the gun with this particular technology without the proper support.
  8. I traded in my Lincoln MKS which i was averaging 19mpg, i now average 42mpg and have cut my fuel expense more than half. My dad was leasing a Fusion and i thought it was a sharp looking car and was fairly comfortable. I wanted a fully loaded Fusion and it just happened i found an Energi with every option Ford offers and i get great mileage.
  9. I personally love seeing all the "dont run the a/c, dont use the heater, dont go over 45mph". Its like the person at the all you can eat buffet getting a diet coke. What is the point?? Just drive your car, enjoy it. Speed every now and then, enjoy a warm car, enjoy a blasting cold car. Otherwise, horse and buggy is damn good "eco" environmental choice!! I also get a kick out of the arrogance of people who claim its for the environment
  10. I havent found a new 2017 on a lot that is equipped like my 2014 Titanium. I'd consider an upgrade if i saw one.
  11. I have a Titanium that is essentially a Platinum.
  12. Not true. Driving highway speeds with zero HVB and just hybrid result in around 38 mpg, the same exact drive with the extra 19/20 miles of EV gets me 63 mpg. Who keeps a Fusion for more than 4-5 years anyway. These Energi's are a disposable car.
  13. Didnt pay extra, and my Energi is better equipped than any hybrid model i have seen. It was a showroom car that i got a great deal on. Btw, im down to 43.2 due to the summer heat. Winter time it goes up to 48 mpg. I get 63 mpg on my daily work commute, but dont charge during the day that often. Still no excuse for not running the a/c. And no, if i drove the same with only the hybrid i wouldnt be getting 43 mpg, would be far less
  14. The power inverter has worked fantastic while no power due to Irma. Have had the car "on" for over 24 hours straight. Works like a charm.
  15. Who the hell buys a car, fairly expensive car, and then doesnt use the a/c? Dumbest thing i have heard. All this car is is an enhanced hybrid. Forgot all this charging and battery crap, whats your mpg? Thats all that matters.....mpg. My lifetime avg is 43.2 mpg right now. Thats blasting a/c every single day, every second i am in the car....43.2. Thats the number thats important.
  16. 2014....51,000 miles....4.8kwh and 19 miles from full charge. I do nothing to preserve the battery, plug in whenever i can, drive it however i want to, a/c blasting all the time. So about a 10% loss over 51k miles. Oh well. Another 48k miles and the car will be gone. But my lifetime mpg is 43.2, not bad. Thats the only number that matters.
  17. 2014....51,000 miles....4.8kwh off a full charge and roughly 19 miles
  18. Thus the HVB never really drains to zero and always maintains some level of charge and therefore always keeping a charge on the 12V system, if the HVB gets low the ICE kicks on to charge back up the HVB only. It all makes sense now.
  19. So the 12V does receive a charge from the HVB then? I hooked up the power inverter to the underhood connections with the car running in hybrid mode, HVB depleted as far EV only charge, and obviously not plugged in. The power inverter showed a reading of 14.2V, so without the car plugged into the wall the 12V system was getting a charge from somewhere. With the ICE running there is power going back into the "system" somehow anf maintaining a charge on the 12V system.
  20. Well the battery terminals on a normal car arent exactly outputs either, but its all connected. With the car running and the inverter connected it gets power and shows 14.2v. My question is where is that 14.2V coming from? HVB or small 12V. Once the car is running shouldnt it be the HVB
  21. Yep, 150 is pretty low. Thats pretty much there to keep a laptop plugged in, not good for much else. Same question as the other thread, with the power inverter connected it gets power and shows 14.2V, where is it getting that from....the HVB or smaller 12V. Once the car is running shouldnt it be the HVB?
  22. I too have a 750 watt inverter that connects to +/- terminals under the hood on normal cars while they idle. My question is where do those underhood terminals on the energi get their power? HVB or smaller 12V? I would hope/think those terminals are powered off the HVB and the engine will just run to charge back up the HVB. I suppose its no different than the power to the cig outlets inside the car. Some inverters plug into those cig outlets, but the better ones connect under the hood.
  23. On a normal car a power inverter can be hooked up to +/- terminals to allow 110v options. On our cars to the underhood terminals connect to the HVB or the smaller 12v battery? Once the car is started do those same underhood terminals get power from HVB? How would a power inverter work for our cars?
  24. Number one....i cant understand a person who makes a car purchase decision based on a couple online forum posts. Number two....Opinions, like buttholes, everyone has one. Some people are just insane with these cars and the operation. "I always face north and use my left hand to plug in the car to get maximum charge". Its all nonsense. I dont do crap other than plug in it when i get home, unplug when i leave. I have 47k miles and its the same as when i got it. One oil change thus far, original tires and brakes. This car has had the least amount of maintenance than any car i have owned. Number three..... its just a damn car. To go from point A to point B. Get in, start it, and push the pedal. Thats all thats required. Way to much thought by some into a automobile.
