  1. Nice press release. I wonder when it will actually be available? Mine was last updated in August of 2013 and it is still being reported as "current". *sigh*
  2. My car is on the list but the local dealer is still saying they don't have enough parts to do the repairs unless something is broken. Funny enough is that my son's 2013 Fiesta was also on the recall... His friend slammed the door and the latch stopped working; they had to tape the door closed to get home. For THAT, Ford had the parts.
  3. What is your average drive between charges? If you are a "around town only" driver, I was getting 226MPG when I wasn't working. Now that my average drive is 70 miles I'm getting around 68MPG.
  4. I had my headliner replaced. The new one is now frayed worse than the original. Yes, it is still made the same way of just hacking through the material when the cut the headliner to size. What I'm going to do is carefully paint the edge with clear nail polish making sure to only get the cut edge. Then, after it dries, I'm going to snip the tips of the frayed areas back. It won't be perfect but it will be better and will stop further fraying. Gk
  5. Which is really funny since my sales-types told me that they have never seen Ford charge for a map update. Luckily, I didn't believe them and didn't think $800 for a nav system was worth while. The Waze app on my mobile phone gives so much better information for driving than any other map system.
  6. I recently mounted the Panorama-G camera. Here you can "see" it just in front of the mirror. These were taken with a Polarizing lens on the camera so you can actually see the dashcam... Close-up view: Here is one without the Polarizer so you can get an idea of "real world" visibility: Here is the driver's view: I ran the wires up the mirror-wire bundle to the headliner, behind the headliner (held in place with bits of foam since the gap is too loose to hold the wire on its own), down the passenger side A-pillar behind the rubber door-seal, under the dash (held in a few places with zip-ties) and then plugged it in to the 12v port.
  7. And, those springs are only for the gas version of the Fusion. No hybrid or Energi listed.
  8. I just installed a dashcam last weekend. Going around really isn't all that bad: The front edge of the headliner isn't attached so there is already an empty slot there. Then I just used a coin to move the rubber out so I could put the cable behind it going down the A-pillar. Then across under the dash and held it in a couple of spots with Gorilla Tape. All in all, I think I took 15 minutes to run it all the way to the plug in the center console and you can't see it anywhere.
  9. @HotLap, Unfortunately, if you are one of the ones blessed with the bad vent issue, there really is no "living with it"; it smells like a sewer. Apparently they had some defective plastic. @FordService, I'm supposed to pick up my car today (again). If it isn't right this time I'll get in touch. Unless You want more info? In which case, send me a PM with your contact info and I will call you.
  10. The only caveat to this is that if you are still in EV-later mode from climbing the hill, the downhill run will regenerate extra charge but the car will immediately use that up again to get you back to your "saved" energy level. If I'm on the highway and hit a long downhill run, I switch to either EV-mode and turn on hill-assist to make it so the car keeps me from gravity-accelerating. Then at the bottom of the hill I switch back to ev-later mode so I save that extra charge for when it is most useful. GK
  11. I've personally never tried the "drive in Low" method so can't comment on that. But I have found that driving on the highway at speeds 55 or above sucks the HVB inordinately fast. As soon as I hit the highway I go into "EV later" mode and then turn it off when things slow down. Here's how I think of the HVB battery. By display, you basically have 105% of "the battery" labelled 100% - -5%: 100% of EV and 5% for Hybrid. Unless you get down to 0%, it is all one battery treated the same. Once you get to 0% then you are in Hybrid only mode using the "negative" 5% of your HVB battery. With that in mind, in EV-Later mode the car "saves" a certain percentage of your EV-area of the HVB charge (so if you say to save 10% you actually still have 15: 10% - -5%). That means it will use the HVB as much as possible while not going too far below your saved percentage and then it will use the ICE to recharge the HVB to that same level but no further. If you get into a long-downhill run, regeneration will charge the HVB up beyond your saved amount but then as soon as you level off the car will use that surplus up before restarting the ICE to maintain your saved amount. If you want to "grow" your saved HVB you need to turn off "EV later" at the top of the hill and then turn it back on at the bottom of the hill. Now all the surplus regen becomes part of the Saved charge. On my homeward bound leg, I will switch back to EV-auto even on the highway such that I drop into Hybrid mode within battery-range of the house. As long as I don't have to accelerate hard it just uses up the hybrid battery going those last couple of easy miles. For me, I have approximately 8000 miles with an average commute in the 75 mile range (round trip) with about 2/3 of that highway-speed. I've averaged 69.8MPG since the life of the car. If I did more errands around my house I would get better numbers. When I first got the car my MPG was 223. Then I got a job that required lots of driving. GK
  12. I've had my 2013 Ti for about 8000 miles now. I really wish I had gone with the SE. I'm pushing 225 pounds and the sport seats are too narrow at the bolsters so my lower back gets sore. I've been thinking about taking them to an upholstery shop to get them modified to be a bit wider and a bit softer. Honestly, who needs "sport seats" in a car that rides/handles more like a towncar than a mustang.
  13. Oh Joy! I had TSB 14-0099 (musty smell from vents) fixed. To do so required the entire dash be removed. When they reassembled it they did something wrong and the foam which only barely showed in the past is now fully visible all the way across the dash. They are saying that the foam somehow got mounted wrong and they need to replace it but they can't get just the foam from Ford so they aren't doing anything to fix it. The more I deal with Ford Maintenance (both on this car and on my new 2013 Fiesta) the less happy I am. Sucks!
  14. The green sticker allows us to use the carpool lanes. Crossing the bridge you have to have your FastTrac device on the dash and that gets us $2.50 tolls rather than the $5 tolls. For the Express Lanes, you have to keep your FastTrac in its mylar bag and then you can use the express lanes for free. (This is the instructions I got from FastTrac when I called for clarification).
