Say goodbye to all but two Ford sedans
fpliptak replied to Blastphemy's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I was very disappointed with the Ford announcement. My wife and I have been driving Ford products since 1995. 1995 Mercury Mystique, 1999 Mercury Sable, 2006 Mercury Milan, 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid, 2013 Ford Fusion Energi and 2016 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. Loved the Hybrids and especially the Energi. That being said I recently traded in the 2010 Milan Hybrid for a 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV. The only reason I went to Chevrolet was because the local Ford dealer is not electric certified and doesn't sell the Fusion Energi. I looked at the Focus Electric but felt it was too small and did not have adequate range. When Ford made the announcement effectively killing the hybrids and the plug-in hybrids I knew I made the right decision. Very sorry to leave Ford but I don't see a future for someone like me in their future. :( -
I have the same issue with a 2013 Fusion Energi (build date 04/2013). My questions are this: 1. How do you know if you have a 2014 TCU versus a 2013 TCU? 2. Is Ford going to replace the defective TCU as a warranty repair? 3. Is there an anticipated date for the start of the repairs?

Navigation Map Update Letter From Ford
fpliptak replied to murphy's topic in Audio, Navigation & SYNC
My response to the letter offering me a map update for $150 on a system I paid $795 for was to send an e-mail to Ford indicating that I bought a Garmin nuvi 2797 with Lifetime Maps & Traffic for less than $270 and will NEVER AGAIN buy a navigation system as part of my car. With my Garmin I map updates at least 3 times a year, bettor POIs and more up to date maps. Also, I was told by my salesman (since retired) that the map updates were free as long as the car was under warranty. I have not had the car back to the dealer to argue the free updates yet, but I will when it hits the 10K miles mark. -

Not sure if this has anything to do with the adaptive cruise control or not. My cruise control works differently from any other CC I have used in the past 30 years (including a 2013 Fusion Titanium EcoBoost). If I hold down the + button to accelerate the MPH indicator (lower left in display area) keeps increasing much faster than the actual acceleration of the car. It increases very quickly and then the car accelerates to the listed speed (sometimes over 80 MPH). In every other car holding down then + button the vehicle accelerates but when you let off the button the acceleration stops. It acts the same way for deceleration. I end up going much slower than desired. Is this just my experience?

Insurance Company not able to determine Energi model

Murphy, Could you elaborate on what the response was from the company president? -

I have been having "issues" with my insurance agent when it comes to my Energi. They have asked numerous times for my VIN number and after giving it to them I got the following response back as to why they keep asking for the VIN: Your vehicle’s VIN does not register with State Farm’s national database. This typically occurs with new, unique or uncommon vehicles. Strange in that I can get the full description of the vehicle based on the VIN from the Ford site. Any ideas?VIN Results fleet_ford_com.htm

I am having the same issue. Car is parked in the garage and fully charged but the app and the web site both indicate that it is 20 miles away at my wife's work location adn she left there yesterday at 5:30 P.M.. The other interesting thing is that the if I check the Activity (either place) it has the following for the most recent entry: 06/01/2013 10:26:06 am Value Charge Profiles have been synced Kind of strange since the current date/time is 05/30/2013 @ 11:45 P.M. I called the My Ford Mobile help line and reported the problem. Yes we verified that the data/time in the car were both correct (7:52 P.M.) I was given a case number and they are supposed to check into the problem and get back to me. I would suggest that anyone having this issue report it to My Ford Mobile 800-392-FORD (3673)

The difference in my home electric bill was....
fpliptak replied to jeff_h's topic in Batteries & Charging
I recently installed a Kill-A-Watt (120V) between the outlet and the Level 1 changer and got the following (limited) data: Date Charge Time (apx) kWh Used Rate ($/kWh) Cost Battery Status 05/18/2013 5:30 7.87 0.13917 $1.10 < 25% 05/19/2013 1:45 2.08 0.13917 $0.29 50-75% Need to get more data over a longer period of time for any good statistics but at least it is a start. p.s. love the Kill-A-Watt -

Got another update from my dealer. The ETA is Friday May 03. Just to be on the safe side I am hoping it will be delivered by Saturday May 11th. The good news is that it will be here for my wife's birthday. It is her birthday present..

Trim (Energi SE/TI etc): Energi SE Order date: 03/06/2013 Vin date: 03/29/2013 Sticker date: 04/13/2013 Build week: 04/15/2013 Build Date: 04/15/2013 If it is in Transit or Arrived: ??? Your State: Connecticut ETA: 8 weeks from date of order Delivered Date: Waiting VIN : 3FA6P0PU3DR301419 DR: 301419 Original Order date was 02/05/2013 but the dealership did not get the certification from Ford to sell the Energi. Original color ordered was Ginger Ale but was "Color Balanced Out" by the time the dealer could place the order so we had to re-order Did not order Titanium because the black interior gets too hot! Since the Ginger Ale color was not available when we re-ordered we chose the Ice Storm color. My current ride is 2010 Milan Hybrid and my wife's is a 2006 Milan Premier. She gets the Fusion Energi
