  1. Congrats! It's a different world but since you've done your homework you'll really enjoy the diversity of the Energi. We use the Hybrid system as the back-up to the EV system and as a result are showing 215+ mpg on the dash.
  2. Amazing! Glad you are okay. I was just in a discussion yesterday on how safe cars are today versus just ten years ago in spite of their reduced weight and mass. It will be great to see the pictures of your new Energi and we wish you a quick and easy recovery.
  3. That's awesome! It sounds like this car was built for your particular life patterns.
  4. Great post Jeff. I'm fascinated by the disconnect that Ford has with their own vehicles in spite of this amazing technology and it's ability to help them market their services to their existing customers. For instance my FFE has less than 4,000 miles on it, but my dealer keeps sending me e-mails reminding me that I am overdue for my 10,000 mile service. They know how many miles I drive without filling up, yet my dealer doesn't know how many miles are on the car?!? It would be impressive if they were so tuned in to my car that they offered Free brake inspections to those who can't seem to master regent braking Tire discounts when you cross 50,000 Oil changes, battery replacements, parts repairs, wiper service, etc could keep us coming back to the showroom to look at new cars and trucks and say "Hey" to the sales team. Classes on how to maximize my mileage, or local discounts and incentives for EV's. I would opt in for this and be more comforted rather than knowing that my info is going into a mysterious black hole where information is never used to its greatest benefit.
  5. I received an e-mail from my dealer this morning and it had this article which Ford states that Energi users have increased their mileage to a combined electric mile total to 8,400 per hour. Here is the article link: http://www.imakenews.com/billutterford/e_article002810199.cfm?x=bn1m9KF,bvVMhQBM It's interesting to me how the combined My Ford Mobile data is revealing some great statistics, including how our driving habits change after owning the Energi for a few months (I know that mine did).
  6. Congrats Murphy! Sounds like some great (and necessary) additions. A couple questions: 1. How do you like the illuminated sill plates? Do you think that they will scratch easily? 2. How did you get the full sized battery on board? 3. What jack did you get and where is it mounted? Thanks for all of your great posts.
  7. Hey Howard - Try this link to download a PDF of your Owner's Manual: http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage&year=2013&make=Ford&model=Fusion%20Energi
  8. I've had the same experience as Chuck...have seen some Fusions, but only one Hybrid so far. One advantage of driving a rare car like the Fusion Energi is that it sure gets a lot of attention. We always are walking up to it to find people looking at it in parking lots...of course it could be the fifty coats of wax that it has that helps them to work on their tans ;-)
  9. Murphy I think you're right, most of our trips are 10 - 15 miles as well. This ranking removes the competitive nature as it only encourages you to drive farther which seems to diminish one of the primary purposes of buying a PHEV, (saving resources).
  10. Welcome to the forum! You'll appreciate the EV now/later options. Just save that battery charge until you are off of the highway and you'll really see the efficiency shine.
  11. I agree with that --- I've gone 1,950 miles without filling up...but it says that I've gone 12.
  12. I downloaded the update and went to try it out and it is still down tonight.
  13. That's great news! Thanks for your efforts. I set it up a few months ago...Someday I'll get to use it, although it's been over 1,800 miles and I still haven't had to fill the tank.
  14. Welcome to the forum. You are gonna love your Energi.
  15. I would think in that Florida heat it would be a no-brainier. It's a good number to know and it's worth it in Texas for sure. On a similar note, I'm really impressed on how quickly the air conditioner kicks in and cools down the cabin.
  16. That's interesting. The perception tracking is interesting.
  17. I haven't heard the fans turn on after the charge cycle is complete and completely agree with you that the battery is too small for what it is asked to do. Since I typically don't drive mine every day, I'm gonna start random checking the voltage to get a baseline of data.
  18. Thanks for the post! What a fun trip. Just curious...after spending that time and distance in it, what is your favorite feature in the Fusion? What would you change?
  19. BTW - How did it feel to drive up to the gas pump after driving all of that distance?
