  1. I am filling a formal complaint with Ford against the large local dealership that is supposed to be electric car certified in the town I live in. After 5 months the dealership treated me like I was crazy and it was some how my fault for the check engine light and charge fault. It was so bad they stopped giving me paperwork as if I would not have a trail to come back after them. I do have some good news though... 40 miles away in a small Arizona town a Ford dealership was able to fix my car and replace the $3,000 part that went bad first try and the car charges fine not a problem. I am quite relived that I have a place to take my newer Platinum Energi that is getting over 100+ mpg at the moment. I am lucky that I have other cars and I have more free time than most. If a person only had just this car and an unforgiving 9-5 job they would be screwed. I am just so happy I bought the $3,500 extended $0 deductible warranty through Ford directly. It has paid for itself over and over since the saga began. Granted the certified pre-owned warranty was still in place for most things.
  2. Just a quick update I drove 45 minutes from home to another dealership that is certified hopefully they can fix what the other dealership broke.
  3. I did check again and the dealership is a certified dealership to work on electric Ford cars.
  4. It is the fact that I have no place I feel comfortable to take my car to get serviced. I only have one Ford dealership.
  5. Yes the dealer is electric certified they sell plug in hybrids and have charging stations.
  6. I have a really nice 2014 Ford Fusion Energi and I have the extended warranty on the car and its been wonderful. I bought the car with 50k miles as a CPO and it currently has 92k miles on the clock. I have only had to do oil changes batteries tires. Just wanted to start out and say this car has been super reliable. Fast forward to over three + months ago I noticed that the timing chain gasket was leaking/weeping oil so I took the car in. It was covered under warranty no big deal right? Not so much they did the service and two weeks later I got my car back. I plugged the car in and the next morning the car was not fully charged and check engine light was on. Car drove fine and seemed to charge for the time being. I took the car in and they had it for another three weeks got it back check engine after driving and charging. I then took it back and another three weeks check engine after it discharged and charged back up. I took it back no check engine blinking blue ring no charge after being depleted. I then got the car home drove it went to re-charge then the RED TRIANGLE!! Had it towed off to the dealer and here we are another three weeks. I would have gotten the car back last week but I asked them to charge the car then drive it down and re-charge. I am glad I did not get the car since I got a notification like all the other times that the car has a fault. The service adviser has been nice but I am becoming very disenfranchised in this car. I recently bought a new 2018 Fusion Platinum Energi and I am ready to get rid of both cars. I do not even know if I can sell this white car now. I am at a loss since I have not had my car for such a long time without a single issue. All I know is my local Ford dealership cannot fix whatever happened to the car when I had it in for service. I do not know if I even have recourse on this or where to go. I am lucky to have a big diesel truck to drive but what about the folks who only have just an Energi!?!!?
  7. Sounds good did you undo the plug underneath the car? I am assuming its kinda like the prius in design.
  8. I have a 2014 Ford Fusion Energi and the coolant in the reservoir for the inverter is turning or looks yellow. The regular coolant for the engine is still a nice orange color. The car has 92,000 miles and it runs great but just am concerned that its a different color for the inverter. Also, I have looked high and low and do not really see a diy on how to change the inverter fluid. I know that there are tons of Prius guides and this is really important to keeping the hybrid electrical system healthy. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
  9. Do you see these rings all the time? The range rings appear to indicate the distance that the car can go in EV only. That is the only time I see them on my Energi when I am on a low EV charge. I really do not know how accurate they are for that distance. For the most part I either do not use navigation since I know where I am at or I do not get a low charge. Before you know it the rings will just be in the background. Hope this helps.
  10. If its a CPO (Certified Pre Owned) that is great! If not it still has some time to go for the manufacture warranty for the 2015 model. I would go with the second option if it has a clean carfax. I recently gave up a Honda for my Ford Energi. This car is not as refined or polished as the Acura. That said it does get some amazing MPG!! Also, its much more refined than the last generation Ford Fusion. On the leather I have the ceramic and the car has 50k miles and it looks great so I would not let tan scare you away also it is cooler in the summer. Can't stress enough how I would take the second car since it was close to the $40K range new. If you drive less than 20 miles a day it will be in electric only. I would take the VIN and call Fords extended service plan department I was able to get the plan for around $3k 0% interest for 8yr/125k here is the website http://fordprotect.ford.com/. The dealer wanted me to buy some third party bs for way much more money. I personally wanted the piece of mind since this car is so loaded with sensors and gadgets that could go bad. Also, if your Acura is paid for you may have luck selling it first. See if the Ford dealer will allow for a "lifestyle test drive" I don't know if they offer it where you are at. The dealer let me drive the car for a day or two to see if it was right for me. Well best of luck and don't wait too long the second one sounds like a fantastic deal.
  11. The water spots under the spoiler are an easy fix (very common build up area). i usually just get a wet terry cloth and some rubbing/polishing compound and just buff it out by hand. I live where the water is super hard and it works wonders. Also, if you have scratches on the inside of depression where you open the door or some dings you can make most of it all go away with some rubbing compound. As for dealers and the "172" point inspection they do still miss a lot of things. I pulled out an in cabin air filter with 50k worth of dirt. The dust and leaf accumulation was just excessive for a certified pre-owned car. Then again it takes about 15 minutes to replace with the right tools on a good day :oD. Let me know if you try the polishing compound and if it works or not.
  12. Thanks for the post on the AC! I live in the desert and I will give that a try!
  13. Just a quick note on the 3.8 update with my iPhone. It seems that the connection when the phone is plugged in between iHeart Radio it has some connectivity delays. I have just been turning the power off and on and it picks it up again.
  14. I always had the understanding if two needed to be replaced it is just safer to buy all four. I always rotate the tires about 10k maybe sooner depending on the oil change. I learned the hard way that it is cheaper to rotate than to buy new tires.
  15. Is it far enough away that the doors wont unlock when you put your hand on the handle? I never use the keypad I just walk up and put my hand on the handle and it unlocks. If that is the case anyone could walk up open the door and drive away.
  16. UPDATE: I ended up buying upgraded halogen light bulbs for the car. It was time consuming to do but not as bad as anticipated. I had to remove the top two torx screws and two bolts on the bottom of the headlight assembly. I did have to undo some flimsy plastic clips on the side top and bottom of the front nose of the car. After unbolting the assembly I carefully pulled it forward enough to pull out the bulbs. Below I have a photo showing the difference between stock and the upgrade. As you can see there are screws/clips everywhere that needed to be removed. I still cannot believe one has to do so much to replace one light bulb. I hope these do not burn out anytime soon. The high beam bulbs look to be an easier task than the low beams. I ended up going with European Osram "Night Breakers" they do not have a blue cast and are a noticeable upgrade. I bough them off of eBay through this seller. I really wanted more light without going with a modified non stock HID system.
  17. The app is rough around the edges and seems to work best on apple products. Even still the best advice I could give anyone who is having issues is to delete the app from the phone and re-install. I had some very weird startup issues and the re-install allowed it to work. The SYNC system can be put through a "hard reset" (final attempt in most cases). I found a one line about deleting and re-installing of the app and it was a life saver!
  18. I know this thread is a bit old but what version is everyone on at this point? I have done two updates for the My SYNC from 3.6.2>3.7>3.8. Is there a higher version available? I was "up to date" after I did the 3.7 and by happenstance I found this other update. I did a cut and paste on the specifics of the two updates below. Changes with 3.7 EA5T-14D544-ACABOUT THE LATEST UPDATE The new software update for SYNC® with MyFord Touch systems includes all the improvements from previous updates, plus additional benefits such as: Navigation: Map content for Europe and Australia/New Zealand regionsMute button for SYNC Navigation prompts added to Navigation map screenEstimated "Time of Arrival," instead of "Time to Destination" now shown on map screenThe installation of this update will take up to 30 minutes to complete. Be sure to keep your engine running (not in accessory mode) throughout the entire installation process. Turning off your vehicle during the update installation will disrupt the process. Although your vehicle must be in park when you begin the installation process, you may drive your vehicle while the update is downloading to your SYNC system. If your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Access with Push Button Start feature, you will need to temporarily disable the Automatic Engine Idle Shutdown (AEIS) component before beginning the installation in order to prevent your vehicle from timing out and shutting off the engine before the software update is complete. To disable this feature, use your steering wheel controls to navigate to the Settings menu on your left-hand Instrument Cluster LCD display. From there, select Vehicle >Auto Engine Off >Off. (If you do not see this setting, there is no need to make any changes before starting the update.) Alternatively, after initiating the installation, you may drive the vehicle during the update process to avoid shutting off the engine. The next time you start your vehicle, the AEIS will automatically reset to "On." Please note: During the update installation, SYNC will temporarily appear to not recognize your mobile phone or media device. This is normal. Once your system has been successfully updated, SYNC will display a notification stating "Installation complete." 19. I usually change my air filters about every 10k miles. I find it interesting that the dealership always pushes things like this for service. Yet, when you buy a CPO Ford they do not even check it. This filter looks like it has not been serviced at all. I was on the fence about getting the filter. It worked out I picked up a Ford filter on eBay for $16. Thanks Seadiel for the video post for the YouTube video. It was super easy vent piece pops out along with the side panel. Then 4 7mm bolts hold in the glove box and that pops out. Two fillip screws hold the door closed and that is that (be gentle its all plastic down there).
  20. I am glad to hear that someone listened and responded to your tweet. Today social media is like a modern day protest sign. I have my fingers crossed Wishbone for you getting a new engine or reimbursed. It really is a hard case for them to press since the car is basically new and had no issues. I really do not know how they can deny the damage if you have proof (photos). The "it did not happen immediately" is extremely weak argument hedging on ignorance. Of course most people do not know or understand how a plug-in car works. Your experience has me thinking about the next oil change and I may just do it myself with full synthetic oil. As long as I have proof of the maintenance Ford will honor the extended warranty on the car.
  21. It should be the same engine since the VIN has a U in the 8th place (Per eBay listing). From what I was seeing is that the salvage place only listed 4 cars being compatible (If I have a titanium trim it will not match up). The second engine (engine link) came from a C-Max (plug in hybrid) with the same situation. Correct me if I am wrong but the C-Max is only a plug in hybrid with the same drive-line. Most people who pull engines at the wreckers do not understand hybrids let alone plug-in's. Its a bummer that the Mexican made engine is so obtuse that I did not have luck finding a engine "model" number. For example if I wanted an engine for a 1998 Lexus LS400 I could search 1UZ-FE and so on. Then again a used engine could be more of a pain than its worth for a multitude of reasons. First finding someone who would be willing to touch a hybrid plug-in and then the logistics of getting everything coordinated with shipping condition miles and so on. Due diligence is key since it is a "buyer beware" situation outside the warranty zone. Then again with some preliminary research and coordination one can save a substantial amount of money if they have to foot the bill. Either way I am rooting for you that one of those large corporations either pay's for or give an allowance on a new engine.
  22. I think you would be surprised by the accuracy of Fuelly. They have a great iOS app called GasTracker+ that keeps track of all the pertinent data (minus the electric part). I have looked at the Fuelly links of the other members and its very interesting to see how little fuel is actually used overall. I have not had a chance to update the fuel since I have been in EV only.
