  1. The ChargePoint unit in my company's parking garage (open to the public) requires you to use your own charger on the 120V port. After you swipe the card, the box opens, you plug in and close the box to lock your charger in the plug. Aside from that, your charger unit is sitting out in the open.
  2. No. I'm still figuring out "How To" and in some cases after I figured out how to, I forgot how to when I went on to the next thing. I was hoping people could add to the list.
  3. I've been experimenting with the brake coach and regen to extend my electric mileage. I've learned that touching the brakes activates the regen (the little swirlie on the performance display) and today, I actually had the EV mileage to up while in traffic. What I want to know is, when I touch the brake pedal lightly, am I riding the brakes and wearing down the brake pads? It doesn't feel like it. I'm hoping that all I'm doing is engaging the motor generator to act like an engine brake and I'm not wearing the brake pads. Also, when I lightly touch the brakes to engage the regen, do the brake lights come on? If so, the folks behind me today must have thought that I'm an idiot.
  4. Ahh, good question. It took me all weekend to set up my car and I'm still not done. Not only do you have to register with the SYNC Owner web site (aka syncmyride.com), if you have a PHEV, you also need to register with MyFordMobile (aka http://phev.myfordmobile.com). My dealership didn't even know about this site. Then you also have to download the corresponding apps to your smartphone (Sync Destinations and My Ford Mobile). You already hit on setting the locks and the seats and the radios and the nav and the Bluetooth, but there are other little Easter eggs: Associate the seat positions with the key fobs Adjust the steering wheel position Adjust the delay on the rain sensitive wipers Set up the Homelink garage door opener Fiddle with the MyKey if desired Set the ambient lighting Enable the easy entry and exit function (mine was defaulted to off and the sales guy didn't know about the feature) Enable the surround sound (Also defaulted to off in my car.) Configure the backing camera (delay, active wheel position, color fields, etc.) Anyhow, that's what I did this weekend and I actually loved every minute of discovery. (OK, the garage door thing was a pain because I have the old fixed-code, learning type opener.) Just walk through ALL the menus on three displays. And then learn how to use the voice commands. It'll take me a while before I move to advanced mode, but you could add that to the list above.
  5. The pictures of my new Energi are posted in the gallery. I spent most of the weekend configuring all the settings and experimenting with the adaptive cruise control, cross traffic detection, and lane keeping. We went out to lunch today at a restaurant with a charger, just to check that out. I'm a registered nerd and still amazed at the technology in this car. I noticed that there are many features not documented in the Owner's Manuals. Took me some time to figure out how to select an HD subchannel and hook up MyFordMobile. I still have to get around to testing the car's WiFi hotspot. Unfortunately, I have to go to work on Monday, so that'll have to wait. At least the commute will give me time to learn the voice command prompts. That's like learning a new language.
  6. I would hope that some savvy business would develop a third party battery pack that would be the same form factor with better performance, both power, weight, and longevity. I don't know the economics of it, but about 5 years down the road, if there were enough Fusions, a replacement battery pack would probably be a big seller. The developer would have to work with Ford to make sure the software could accept a modernized battery pack. You don't have to buy a new car, just replace the battery.

  14. She's in the garage! :happy feet: My Bordeaux Red FFH NRG TI is finally here after a week in Chicago and four days in the lot in Jessup, MD awaiting truck transport to the dealer. I thought I was paying for transport, not parking. This is one hell of a car. I actually turned off the radio so I could hear the silence on the way home on EV. This was the first NRG my sales guy has sold and I was able to show him a thing or two from stuff I learned here. I also have to thank the forum for cluing me in to the $750 private cash and Flood Ford ESP. The dealership quoted me $3,995 for a $1,100 policy with Flood. So you guys have saved me a chunk of money. Malibu: You can close out my row on your spreadsheet. DR319147 was delivered on May 31, 2013, two days later than the original ETA and 78 days from date of order. That looks to be about average, or maybe a little better than average, but it was an excruciating wait nonetheless. Thanks for keeping the tracking spreadsheet and thanks again to the forum for all the good information while I was waiting. Too dark to take pictures tonight, but I'll post them ASAP.
  15. So I got word today that my car has arrived at the railhead and is now in line for transport to the dealer. I should have it by Friday or Saturday. I feel better. Please pardon my earlier outburst.
  16. Maybe if i ACTUALLY HAD THE CAR I ORDERED IN MARCH I could have given a better answer.
  17. Lexus navigation allows you to manage your destination folders (eDestination) on the web and sync with your car. You can locate an address or business from your car's web site and upload it to the car. This feature is enabled if you subscribe to Lexus Enform. That subscription includes concerge service, stolen vehicle location and roadside assistance. The assistant at the Lexus Response center can also upload addresses to your car, so if you hit the button and ask for XYZ Restaurant, the assistant can make a reservation for you and upload the address to your navigation system. We never use the Lexus service, so I expect MFT will be perfectly acceptable.
  18. Okay. How did you do that? Inquiring minds (and prospective owners) want to know.
  19. Ladies and gentlemen, it's from Microsoft, creator of the Blue Screen of Death. What do you expect?
  20. The quoted price on my wife's Lexus Nav updates is $329, parts and labor. $150 from Ford looks like a bargain to me. I'd still only update every other year.
  21. If I am reading the Owner's Manual correctly, you don't have to apply the brakes to activate the regenerative braking to charge the batterie., All you have to do is take your foot off the accelerator and the regen kicks in, acting like an engine brake and the generator starts charging. That's how regen works on my wife's Lexus 450h. There are gauges and displays that show the batteries charging as you coast with no brakes. Is that how it works on the Fusion? I can understand that you might need the brakes going down a 4,000 foot decline, but you don't need to brakes to tell the car to charge.
  22. When I requested the Taurus brochure, I also asked for a Fusion brochure since I had my NRG on order. The Fusion brochure arrived yesterday with a $750 "Private Cash" coupon. Like the Taurus coupon, it also expires 7/5/13. Hopefully Union Pacific can fix the train to get my car in by then. Too bad you can only use one coupon.
  23. Right. But my dealer sent me this email this morning and it's already been there for four days! The "conveyance mechanical failure" is what concerns me. They used to have some estimated delivery dates, May 23 for the yard at Jessup MD and May 29 for the dealership. Those dates are now TBD. And to make it worse, I spotted my first Tesla this morning as it zipped past me on the way to work. I had hoped that was a good omen. I was wrong.
  24. I was told that you don't have to have a service visit to update the Navigation. In the other forum they said all you have to do is buy the new SD card and you can insert it yourself. My wife has a Lexus 450h that requires a service visit to update the Nav. You buy the license USB key, then the service guy takes it into the back, hooks up the diagnostic laptop and inserts the USB in the laptop. That allows him to download the new maps and upload them to the car. The process is EXTREMELY slow and can rack up a two hour shop charge. We only update our Nav every third year. Our old RX300 that we traded in had a DVD drive and all I had to do was buy the new DVD and drop it in the drive myself. Much better. My recommendation is to go with a smartphone on the Lexus.
