  1. I got a 2013 Fusion Energi that originally came form Florida, where they apparently do not require front license plates. Here in Texas, I need to add one. Was thinking of getting one of those that screw into the front tow hook, but I can't find a front tow hook on this car. Can anyone recommend a good front license plate bracket that's easy to install? Thanks, James
  2. I'll look again, but I've been all thru that left hand menu and have not seen a setting to switch it.
  3. My wife told me last week that the screen blanked out then showed a message "Updating..." something. After a coulple of minutes, it came back up like normal. I'm not sure what it could have been "updating.." Does Sync update automatically? Was there a recent sync update?
  4. Mine does not show MPGe. It shows MPG (ie. 999.9 when using plugin only). I have to calculate MPGe myself. It had 9800 miles on it. I also noticed that the Trip 2 also showed the same miles as the main odometer (actually, it was .02 miles more than the odometer) which means it was never reset since it was new. By that, I found that the car had only used 2 tanks of gas ever! (Not sure if that's shown on the lifetime summary.)
  5. I tried using a go time to cool my car a little before leaving in the morning (playing with it really). But when I came down and found the car running at least 45 minutes before my go time, I've stopped using it. I have no idea how long the car had already been "on". Since I only have the 120v evse, it doesn't really matter, as I won't be using GO times. May have to get a 240V before winter.
  6. I've already posted elsewhere in here, but thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself. Just bought a 2013 FFE (Ruby Red) a few weeks ago. Still getting used to all the fancy features. I felt it a good idea to get a plugin car since (due to planets and stars aligning just right), I won't be driving nearly as much as I had been in the recent past. I was driving 30 to 40 miles a day.. now it's 8 to 16, depending if i go somewhere for lunch. Perfect!! My MPGe's so far (calculating with the kWh the car reports for trips) is anywhere from 110 to 180 if I don't go into ICE mode. So far, since I started tracking, I've only hit the ICE twice for about 1.19 gallons. So my overall MPGe is 82.97 for 192 miles. I haven't figured out how to accurately track MPGe based on the kWh actually taken out of the wall outlet. I did take it on a trip to Colorado a few days after i bought it. No plugin charging after initial charge was gone. We averaged 40 mpg for the whole trip. We were able to gain full battery charges coming down from 14k feet! Cheers, James
  7. Same thing happened to me. I just bought a 2013 FFE a couple of weeks ago. It only had about 9695 miles. I noticed that Trip 2 looked like it had never been reset since it was new, so I could tell that it had only ever had 2 tanks of gas. Trip 2 79:14:45 9695.5 mi 185.1EV 347.3 MPG 27.91 gal 383kWh (interesting that trip 2 shows 9695.5 mi and the odometer shows 9695.3 mi) Anyway, drove it from Dallas to North Colorado and back. Now the lifetime mpg is under 150mpg.

  9. So, the standard MPGe calculation is not a very accurate way to compare with non EV cars. 33.7 is the accepted factor, so (33.7/kwh)*miles gives the standard MPGe. That was true when gas prices were around 3.71 and you had to page 11 cents per kWh electricty. Today, gas is 2.31/gal at the 7/11 where I would normally get gas. My effective electricity rate last month was .088/kWh. That would give me an MPGe factor of 26.25 (not as good as the standard 33.7 factor). But this is more accurate in determining how much I'm saving over my old Sonata. This is all assuming I don't drop into ICE mode at all. How do you all keep track of your MPGe with and/or without ICE miles included?
  10. When I drove to Colorado and back last week, Regular there was 85 or 86 octane. My FFE did fine on 85 octane. Engines with higher compression ratios need higher octane. The knocking in high performance engines using too low of an octane rating is because the fuel will spontaneously combust under the higher air pressure (ie. before the spark). Higher octane can be compressed more before they auto-ignite.
  11. I only see one quarter of the charge ring light up. The upper left flashes a few times when I plug it in, then goes off. When it's fully charged and I open the door, only the upper left lights up. Shouldn't the whole ring light up? Do the LED's need replacing? or some other issue. Thanks.
