  1. My door dented too. I stopped putting my elbow up and the dent disappeared. Phew, didn't like that. Amazingly the center armrest shows no dents yet. 10,300 miles
  2. I live in Florida, dead flat, and drive 30-35 mph up and down A1A. Unplugging in the morning I have seen 35 miles range often, and as high as 36. Temps in the 70s, Climate Control off. I get about 6.5 miles per kWh or use about 154 Wh per mile (thank you Murphy) on a good day. Electric mode is so nice!
  3. Hi FusionEnergi, I thought I recognized your name as the 2nd best driver in the Renaissance Man, and 4th in the Ratio Champ category. Really great driving! I am right beneath you in the Renaissance Man category (HKs Fusion Energi) 3rd place. 96% Of the 7,823 miles driven 6,496 are EV miles Energy use 145.1 MPG I am thrilled to get 29 to 32 miles per charge.   4. Great points above! I would urge you not to install a 240 V charger. Since you drive short distances, there is no point in charging during the day, so just plug in at night. 6 hours from an empty battery, and you will be ready to go. Your long distance trips aren't going to be helped by a 240V charger. Lastly, from the sound of your driving, a hybrid may be more appropriate. If you drive 15 or more miles per day, go Energi. But a couple of miles each day, go Hybrid. Good luck and happy driving. This is an incredible car!
  5. I am having the same problem with my two front windows. I am always using the key FOB to put the windows up and down. Once the windows deprogram the FOB up/down option stops working too. My stereo won't stay in "Surround" surround mode either. Resets every night and sometimes the same day.
  6. I am experiencing problems with my Energi and was wondering if you are having the same experience. First, I have been to the dealer six times now to fix the one touch up and down feature to function. After I get the car back, the RF window stops working, then the passenger side. The key FOB window up/down feature stops working too on the affected windows. Also, the stereo sounds terrific in the "Surround" mode. The problem is that every time I get in the car or let it sit overnight, it defaults back to the "Stereo" mode. Then have to go to "settings" and reselect Surround. Seems we shouldn't have to do that... I rented a Taurus a couple of weeks ago with the same MFD screen we have. The windows didn't deprogram and the radio stays in the Surround mode. Ford fixed the right rear window, which sometimes wouldn't go down more than three inches. They replaced some parts and now the RR window works.
  7. Think I am on the outside of the range envelope with a 32 mile commute, 35 mph speed limit, 4 stoplights, and straight and level roadbed. Florida flat. Best range 35 miles on one charge. See about 29 to 30 miles with the a/c on, fan speed slow, recirculate on. (You can get the a/c draw down to about 350 watts. Outside air on a mid to high eighties day, you are looking at about a 800 to 900 watt draw. Click up the fan speed and you are above 1200 watts no problem.)
  8. I have thought about the same thing. My nephew tells me there is a flat black paint you can spray on made by PlastiDip. It is sort of rubberized. He put it on the rims of his Raptor, and it has held up great for two years. The neat thing is, you can remove the paint without paint removers. I understand it sort of balls up when you rub it. Will find out what it is called. Can't wait to see a blacked out grill. Several people have told me it would look amazing. My nephews message "Hey hewlett if you did want to black out the grill w/o painting it or want to see what it would look like you could plasti-dip it! I have have had it on my wheels for over 20k mi w/o issue. Its a company that makes rubber for tool handles. Normally its a can that you dip your tools into. Well now they have a spray version. Car guys have been using it for all sorts of things because you can peel it off like a sticker when your done! Not only will it look better but it will protect it as well! I dont know how hard it is to remove the grill but the whole process shouldnt take more than a couple hours. Just get it clean and spray away.   9. Great feedback, guessing most members haven't even put any gas in their Energi's. I almost filled the tank only 1/4 of the way sice a full tank weighs about 80#s. why carry the extra weight around. Curious to see how many gallons I could get in. And next, how many gallons I put in vs. what the trip gallon readout says I used.... That probably won't happen till I fill the car up in a few months! Love electric mode! Hewlett
  10. I just ran out of fuel. Normally an embarrassing and annoying event, I just continued in EV mode to the gas station and refueled! The details: At 1,586 mi Range hit "0" miles. I put the car in 'EV later Mode', reset Trip Computer 1, and drove to 1,615 mi using .46 gallons of fuel. So there were .46 gallons of fuel in my tank when the range hit "0" When I refueled after a couple of EV miles to the gas station, the pump clicked off at 13.331 gal. I clicked one more time to 13.545 gal Two things happened after the car announced the tank was actually EMPTY: - The A/C compressor shut off and - The MFD went to map mode and displayed all the fuel stations as icons. Interesting experience. Ford claims a 14 gallon tank, but it appears usable fuel is closer to 13.5 gallons. Has anyone else run the tank dry? (I know members will say this hurts the fuel pump, but I ran the fuel out several times in my Prius to no ill effect (with a 1 gal portable tank aboard to get to the gas station)) (When the "Reserve" light started flashing in my 2010 Prius I had approximately 2.3 gallons left in the tank.)
  11. Thank you Energized! I just have a hard time with things that don't work properly, and then have people making excuses instead of fixing them! Came out of 17 years in the manufacturing business, over 20 million widgets a year. I have no tolerance for suppliers making up excuses for parts and chemicals out of tolerance, and zero tolerance for defective items leaving our shop to our customers! William Edwards Deming taught the Japanese how to manufacture when US industry turned a deaf ear. Our lunch was eaten by a bombed out little island in the Pacific. Our arrogance quickly turned to humility when we saw Deming was right. Now Ford Customer Relations suggests changing the Owner's Manual instead of fixing our cars. Completely ludicrous! Ford has terrific engineers and great products. Why let them be undermined by a overwhelmed Customer Relations Department. When the cars are perfect, Ford won't need a customer Relations department. Just want the A.C to go off when I press the button like every other car except ours (works on the C-Max Energi because their HVAC system comes from a different supplier), really not asking a lot here.
  12. Dear APM, You are right, it really is an amazing car! Sorry not to get back to you on the software earlier. AutoNation Ford got back to me. The update didn't appear for my car on the VIN list. So Mario was incorrect. The update numbered 13A01 is for cars manufactured before 11/27/2012. I didn't think they were making Energi's back then, but the update definitely won't help anyone I have seen on this site, seems everyone's car was manufactured in '13. Erik from AutoNation said he thinks there will be a 13A02 for cars manufactured later than 11/27/2012. Thank you for your thoughts on the HVAC system. I am one of those people who don't rest until at least someone acknowledges the system isn't working properly. And I got a little closer to that today. Sorry for the false hope on a software upgrade, think the gang in customer support spends their days putting out fires, no time to really find out what is really going on. I was disappointed as well.   13. APM, Mario told me the number and that it came out today. Didn't write it down as he offered to call the dealer and set up the appointment. I said I would call the dealer and set it up. The dealer is looking for the update as I write this. Sorry not to copy down the number! APM, just wondering, do you like the A/C button to turn off the A/C ? (my biggest concern with the car). I just got off the phone with the Ford regional supervisor, Mario, very nice fellow, but as he said in the beginning of our conversation can only talk to the engineering contacts and forward our comments. So here is the crux of our conversation: A/C not turning off, the people in Ford engineering say the A/C system is working "as engineered". He says there is a new owners manual coming out, but doesn't know if there are changes made in it regarding this issue. I asked "when you turn off the A/C in the car you drive, do you expect the A/C to go off?" He said yes he does, but this [the Fusion Energi] is a new car, and that is the way it was engineered. Windows malfunctioning, he says take it to the Ford dealership again. Navigation not always working, there is a new software update out today. No comment on the stereo "surround" setting going back to "stereo" the next day, or the Sound system coming on when it was off the last time I shut down the car. Mario says Ford monitors the forums (sure it is Energized who is the Ford mole since he is the one who defends the A/C not turning off when we want it turned off), and they will see there is an issue. I don't think that Ford will see there is an issue since Energized so vehemently defends the functioning of the HVAC system. Getting ready to go to CarMax who will give me 34 thousand for the car, which is an awful thought, but I really don't want to own a car from a company who can't acknowledge a fault (A/C button) and work on fixing it. What a shame!
  15. Exactly rprobst! When it is 70 degrees in the cabin, why can't we shut off the compressor with the A/C button? I can understand the A/C compressor coming on when it is 90 in the cabin to protect the battery pack. But that logic is flawed, because we can turn off the system entirely, open the windows on a dry 95 degree day and unknowingly overheat the battery pack. Energizers logic is completely illogical.
  16. Matt from Ford called and said "The vehicle is functioning the way it was designed to function and I (Matt) am sorry it doesn't perform the way you (Hewlett) expect it to function." Matt said he would send this report to the department that writes the Owners Manual. I said I didn't buy a new car to be sorry, I said I want the vehicle to perform the way the Owner's Manual says it is supposed to function, not the way it is functioning. Matt says he will escalate the case to the Regional Customer Service Manager, Mario who will be in contact with me either Tuesday or Wednesday
  17. Well the car is at the dealership having the RF and RR windows repaired. No word from the SA about the A/C compressor, so I called the Ford Customer Relationship Center 800-392-3673 and am given Case number CAS-2456xxx. Transferred to Geraldo. He listens to my problem and passes me to Philip in the EV department. Philip listened to the problem and called someone in another division at Ford. When he returned, Philip told me the reason the driver can't turn off the A/C compressor is because it is needed to "cool the battery pack". I made the observation that if that were true, then turning off the Climate Control system would overheat the battery pack, so this explanation, while plausible, probably isn't 100% accurate. There are fan(s) in the back of the car to cool the charger and battery pack. You can hear them running when the car is charging. Philip then said he can't help me because the AutoNation Ford dealership would have to acknowledge that an issue exists. The dealership would then be able to access Ford's technical resource department to fix the issue. I said that would be OK, but that David at AutoNation didn't seem willing to recognize there was an issue (reasoning that David at the AutoNation dealership gave me the MFD workaround and didn't admit there was an issue), therefore I am in the catch 22 position of not getting the problem solved, either through AutoNation or with Philip at Ford. Philip responded he couldn't help me any further and would pass the problem to the supervisory level. I should expect a call from the Service Manager or a Regional Manager at AutoNation within the next 4 business days and a call from Ford within the next 2 hours. I have a new case number CAS-2457xxx.
  18. "Why even have an AC button if turning it off from that button doesn't do anything but turn out the light on the button?" Great question 47minutes Headed to the dealership tomorrow to sort this out, (and the two right windows on the car don't raise and lower fully). So glad there are logical Energi owners out there. rprobst and 47Minutes have it right. You should NOT have to go to the Multi Function Screen to turn off the A/C compressor. Page 123 of the Owners manual states " A/C: Press the button to turn air conditioning off and on. " (nothing about going to the MFD, choosing an airflow button, etc.) The manual makes perfect sense. Every A/C car out there BMWs VWs Toyotas (turned in my Prius Five 35,000mi for the Energi) Range Rovers, and including the Fords and Lincolns I drive on a regular basis (family and rentals) all turn off the A/C compressor when you hit the A/C button.

Responidng to your earlier post regarding the A/C light being simply for entertainment, you neglected to quote the entire post which explains that in a car with a clutchless variable displacement A/C compressor the compressor is always on. The problem with your argument is the Fusion Energi does not have a variable displacement A/C compressor. The Energi (and Hybrid Fords and Toyota/Lexus) use an electric A/C compressor (because the engine is not turning to power an A/C Compressor). And the compressors in our cars don't need to be variable displacement, engineered for greater efficiency accross all engine speeds, since they are not hooked up to the engine. The entire post from http://www.rav4world...-c-light-2.html reads: " The principal of a clutchless ac compressor is simple enough, the ac compressor will be running all the time that the engine is running. even when the light is off. the flow of refrigerant is controled by a diverter valve that when no ac is needed will pass the refrigerant flow through an internal loop. As ac is needed more and more, then the valve will direct more refrigerant to the expansion device. this flow is controled by means of various sensors reporting to the HVAC controler monitoring cabin temperature, air off temperature ambient temp, water temp etc.... When in auto mode, then the light will be on to inform the driver that the ac compressor will cool if needed, though at low ambients very little or no cooling will be done, after all you did select "Automatic" mode so the car will try to maintain the temperature set point however it can without intervention from the driver, if the driver needed to turn the ac on and off, then it wouldn't be automatic. In short the ac light serves no purpose other than to provide the driver with a little entertainment turning the light on and off for no aparrantly good reason. If the compressor fails, then the rubber shear clutch will shear allowing the ac pully to spin rather than allowing the drive belt to burn through and causing the car to be stranded, the car can then be driven to your nearest dealer who will be delighted to present you with a suitably hefty bill " And an explanation of the variable displacement clutchless A/C can be found here http://blogs.howstuffworks.com/2009/06/30/how-do-clutchless-auto-air-cconditioner-compressors-work/ and reads as follows: "As long as you have gone to the trouble of installing a variable displacement pump, you can eliminate the clutch. The swash plate on the compressor can be set to a flat position so that the compressor doesn’t do anything as it rotates. To “turn on” the compressor, the swash plate simply moves to an angled position." And finally the RAV4world post says "after all you did select "Automatic" mode" someone shouldn't be able to turn off the A/C Compressor. Logically de-selecting "Automatic" mode should allow us to turn off the A/C Compressor.
  22. Energized, you are absolutely right, we want manual mode. So when the light next to the "AUTO" button is out, the system should be in manual mode, I think you would agree so far? Now we want the A/C compressor off, so we push the "A/C" button and the light goes out. We are in manual mode since the AUTO light is out, but the A/C compressor keeps running. So there is a software/control issue here and it needs to be fixed. You say the functionality exists, because you can go into the Climate Control panel and illogically push some other button to disengage the AUTO mode, but it is nonsensical and completely not in keeping with how every other Ford product I have driven functions(or any other make I have driven), and doesn't relate to the buttons with the lights. I have had cars from Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen, Acura, BMW, Mercedes, and Land Rover, and they (including the Fords) will keep the A/C compressor off if turn off the A/C compressor. The ONLY time the Climate control overrides the A/C off button on most cars is when you activate the windshield defrost mode to assure the widow clears quickly.
  23. Having the A/C Compressor running when it is not needed wastes a lot of battery power. Have had my Energi Titanium for 2 weeks and the only way I could turn off the A/C compressor was by shutting off the entire Climate Control System. I read the owners manual. It says to push the A/C on/off switch on either the lower panel (the light next to it goes off and on) or the upper Climate Control touchscreen (light goes off/on with the lower one) The A/C compressor stays on though! I went to the dealer. Without admitting there is anything wrong with the Climate Control system, they said you have to go into the touchscreen and manually take the system off "AUTO" by selecting one of the airflow direction arrows above the "AUTO" button. This is not right and it would be nice to find all the Fusion owners with this glitch and ask Ford to fix the glitch. Just wondering how many fellow Fusion owners are experiencing the same problem?   24. Apparently there were several changes. When I read the options list for my Energi, It said the car would come with aluminum brake and accelerator pedals, in addition to the lighted cupholders. When I got the car there were no aluminum brake and accelerator pedals. That is why they always put the disclaimers in! Love the car though,,,
