HI Jeff, sounds like you are making the most of your Bolt. Thanks for the offer of possibly meeting up, I am I the same area, live in West Springfield and work in Fair lakes. I may shoot you a PM next week. I rarely do long journeys and do not mind planning ahead if I did. I did test drive a Bolt and it is a nice car, but there were a couple of things that make it difficult to be my number 1 choice. One is the size, it is a well packaged car but still feels a little small, would probably adjust to it but coming from a Fusion it is noticeable. Second is the funky dashboard, not sure about the white, maybe my tastes are too conservative. Third is the front seats on a $40k plus car I would of expected power seats, this is a nice to have feature that is strangely lacking. I may test drive another one this weekend as well as the Honda Clarity if I get time. Simon

Jeff_h, thank for the link. Looks like the 2019's will arrive after my lease is up. Helps limit the options for a replacement though. I am considering the Honda Clarity and the Bolt, though not sure if the Bolt is really big enough. Off for some test drives. Storksb

My 2015 Ti Energi lease finishes in July and was wondering when the 2019 may be available to order or would be expected to show on the lots. Anyone have any idea? Thanks

I would take it to another shop to get a second opinion, rotors should not be warped with such mileage unless lots of heavy repeated braking. is it possible shaking caused by something else in the braking system?

So tax season is upon us and I was using my usual HR Block software (Deluxe edition) and found that it does not include form 8911,that is used to claim the credit for EVSE installation. Apparently HR Block decided to only include this in the Business version. Called HR Block for help and found there is no upgrade, the only option is to buy the more expensive version. After a little research found that TurboTax includes this form in all versions so I made the switch. Bought both HR Block software and TurboTax from Amazon who very graciously refunded my original purchase. So now I'm able to get the credit. Just thought I'd share in case others ran into the same issue.

I wouldn't say that Sync and MFT are garbage, they are just not as advanced and mature as many consumers expect these days considering the technology we carry around for our phones. People need to remember that these systems in cars take many years to develop and evolve. If you want a car that supports these new apps as soon as they come out buy a new model every year. MFT works fine for me and I'm perfectly happy with it.

A couple of things to add on this topic. 1. Is a cheap timer going to be able to support the long term current / load? If going with a timer make sure to get one that is suitable. 2. Better than a timer how about a dedicated circuit? 3. My understanding of value charge is that it starts charging immediately if the charge window is not long enough to get a full charge in. Try making the charge window longer.

Congrats on getting workplace EVSE, I enquired about EVSE's for my office and it fell on deaf ears, what was you trick? There are 2 blink chargers at the Hyatt next door but at 55c per kwh not economical to use them.

It depends on the State whether commercial EVSE providers can charge by the Unit (kwH) or by time. In Virginia per unit charging is allowed but the prices are cost prohibitive in my opinion. Seems that the typical provider business model is to try and recover the initial cost of implementing the EVSE in as few as possible kWh's. I think they are misguided on that approach though, would seem to make more sense to spread the initial costs out more thinly keeping the unit cost down and attracting more EV drivers to use their infrastructure. Mind you I'm a network engineer so I'm not exactly knowledgeable on these matters but I would use the Blink EVSE near my office everyday if the cost was comparable to the cost of equivalent gas.

I've had my FFET for 7 months now and in all that time I have only charged away from home twice and on both occasions at free charging stations. I have two blink chargers within 100 yards of my office but never consider using them due to the excessively high rates they charge, 49c / kwh. With the cost of gas being as low as it is and the low cost to charge at home I can't ever see paying these high rates to charge a plug in hybrid such as the Energi or Volt. I know that the companies installing EVSE's need to cover the coast of installation and ongoing maintenance as well as the unit cost of kwh but are they missing out on the PHEV drivers by charging such inflated rates? If the rates were comparable to the equivalent cost running on gas I would certainly use the blink chargers as I do normally have to run 3 or 4 miles per day on gas to get home.
