  1. Thank you everyone for all your help on this. I downloaded it for about the 4th time and have now let it sit for a few days. Previously, it would work the first day or so, then wouldn't let me open it. I don't remember what the exact error message was ... something about it just no longer being available. But now it seems to be working - so far. The first couple of times I may have downloaded it to my Desktop only - what I usually do with no problems - but for whatever reason it kept requiring me to download/open it every time. This last time I did specifically save it in My Documents first and then I created a shortcut of it to put on my Desktop. After 3 days it is still letting me open it. Fingers crossed. It was also not staying on my iPad2 but I will try that again too. (Any tips on that?) I have never had a problem saving PDFs to my Desktop or iPad. In fact I have downloaded and saved another owners manual (for another product) since I first started trying with the Ford manual. Whatever, it seems to be working on my PC now and I thank everyone for their help.
  2. I still have my data set for MPG but am wondering if I should change it to MPGe, as I am interested in knowing what my efficiency rating is. I created a spreadsheet and input my EV miles and my regen miles. It shows that I am using EV and regen for around 85% of the miles driven. So if I change the setting to MPGe, would it automatically compute the percentage for mileage efficiency?
  3. Welcome, markb. I've had my 2013 Fusion Energi for 3 months and it continues to amaze me. The regen process, even after the EV portion of the battery has been initially depleted, is remarkable. Only put 23 gallons in tank since April 5th. 1750 miles. I didn't order one in advance but found the car to be so scarce (as in "none") that I put a deposit on one while it was still on the train from Mexico. I really would have preferred the SE's tan cloth interior but am coming to appreciate all the options on the Titanium. I am retired so I just use a standard 120v wall outlet to charge the car every night but let us know how the Siemens does. There have been a few times that I wish I had a quick charger if I need to run out for a 2nd time that day. One gets so spoiled driving in EV Mode. This forum has been so helpful. Don't be a stranger.
  4. Yes, I'm saving it in My Documents. Also I chose the 3rd printing because I expected that to be the most recent. Right after I save it, it is there, but a day or so later, it won't let me open it again.
  5. Okay, darn it, I have registered and gone to all the links mentioned but it still won't let me save a permanent copy to my Desktop (or anywhere else). Yes, I can pull up a copy but it eventually goes away and I have to pull it up again. I followed the instructions to occasionally log off. I am using a Windows7 PC. Chrome is my usual browser. I save the document and it is there for me for a day or so but eventually disappears. I don't want to have to go through everything every time I have a question about something in the manual. I want another paper copy since the PDF for the car won't stay on my PC. But I have also had no luck in finding where it will allow me to order another copy. I asked about getting another paper copy at a Ford dealership and was told it was something like $125(!). I know I can just take the paper copy out of the glove box, but worry that I will forget to put it back and will later have a situation where I really need to find something in the manual. Surely I'm not the only one who has noticed that the PDF copy doesn't stay permanently. I have been using a computer and saving PDFs for years. This is a home computer with no fancy software. Any suggestions are again appreciated. Thanks.
  6. This is what I'm doing to close the port door on my Fusion Energi... While still holding the charging cord in my hand immediately after unplugging it, I use my other hand to close the port door. That way I close the door before I put the cord down. Hopefully I won't ever forget to close it. If I find it open again, then I know it has come open on its own or from someone opening it. 73mach1, don't remove the port door! I would talk to someone at Ford first.
  7. 'Sorry, larryh, I really can't answer your questions, but I am intrigued by all the data we can get from this app. I had been wanting to use the Trip1 and Trip2 options, but didn't want to take away display space from things I do still want to be able to see while driving. This data from MyFord Mobile really gives me the same info on how many EV miles I used each day, etc. I still would like to see the Lifetime Summary somewhere, or is it there and I just haven't found it yet? Also, the odometer is not always showing on the app on my Ipad2 and on my PC. I think it does always show on my Android phone. But you are correct of course that so much depends on where/how one is driving. I get the impression that the software engineers are still working on the app. That's good news. It's already great but I will keep checking to see what else they might add and/or explain.
  8. Hi, Murphy. I don't want to turn the blue port ring light off but am curious how you know that it can be turned off. It's silly, but sometimes I've thought that it would be kind of neat if the driver could "flash" the blue port ring light to another driver. You know, the way one can flash the high beams to signal another driver. Juvenile I suppose, but would be different. And I do totally agree that Ford could have done a better job of securing the charge port door. I would feel better if it could only be opened from inside the cabin. Or at least designed so that it snaps closed more firmly.
  9. I have noticed a lot of cars that look like the 2013 Fusion Energi, especially from the rear. I'm not complaining. I like that it looks like a regular car but is different with the charging port.
  10. I've had my car for 3 months and haven't noticed that the A/C is any noisier than in any of my previous cars (from other car makers). I'm in the Phoenix area so I always have to turn the A/C to "Max" when I first get in the car. Yes, it's loud enough that I can't hear the radio but it cools everything down very quickly and I turn off the "Max" and have the regular A/C on. This time of year (Summer), I always have the windows rolled up and the "inside circulation" set to "On." After it cools down, I eventually have the fan speed on just 1 bar.
  11. Hi. I have the Titanium. I really totally forgot about using the keyfob. Like my previous car (Prius), I put the key in a pouch and dropped it in my pocketbook and it's been there since Day One. So you're saying that the car will know just by using Russael's instructions to turn the Max a/c on? That would still use some of the EV battery's charge, right? Hmm ... I might try but it makes me a little nervous. The heat here (Phoenix) in the Summer is just an unavoidable fact and there's no getting around it.
  12. Ok, just before I left the house this morning I opened the garage door, got into the driver's seat with the key and started the car to cool it down while it was still plugged in. It started the cooling process but it didn't like it (various warning messages) and it soon cut the a/c off even though it was still plugged in. In fact I think the engine powered down too. So that idea of mine didn't work. Is there a way to pre-cool the car via MyFord Mobile for just a few minutes prior to driving away? I don't want to set a recurring "On" time for every day. The a/c is really good and it doesn't take that long in the morning to cool the car down, but I just thought maybe I could save the EV miles by cooling it down while the car is still plugged in. When the MyFord Mobile app tells me the battery is charged, it will show something like 30-32 miles on the battery, but after I cool it down for just a few minutes, I am down to 24-25 EV miles. Any suggestions? Or am I just being greedy?
  13. You guys are "pioneers," but I will appreciate any info on what MPG you get without plugging in. Thanks.
  14. Hi, mikenmar. Yes, I missed a lot of the little storage places that my 2008 Prius had - especially a perfect place to put a small box of Kleenex. I did notice that the 2013 Fusion Energi has another drink holder on the driver's door. Let us know if you find another one.
  15. Thanks, everyone. Even as I was typing my question, a little voice was saying to me "You big dummy. Of course you should open the garage door!" I've never done the remote start using MyFord Mobile. Couldn't I just go out into my garage (with the key) and start it that way? To pre-cool it? By the way, it will run when it's 119 degrees outside, because that's what it's been doing, although I wouldn't want to take an 8-hour drive when it's that hot. I could kick myself now, thinking of all the EV miles I lost for not pre-cooling while plugged in. Well, I'm learning. Thanks again.
  16. Question: If the EV setting is on "EV Auto," is it safe to pre-cool the car with the garage door closed? If just the electric motor is running, there shouldn't be any carbon monoxide, right? I haven't been pre-cooling the car - even in tremendous (up to 119 degrees) heat here recently. I have noticed that my EV miles showing on the battery icon drop immediately (and considerably) once I unplug it and turn on the a/c, so I guess I should have been doing the pre-cooling with the plug still connected all this time. I guess it would be safer to open the garage door but just thought I'd ask. Thanks.
  17. Well I spoke too soon. The MyFord Mobile app is still not giving me the option to sign in with just my 4-digit passcode. One day it let me select a passcode and then go into the app, but after that one time, it still requires me to type in my email address and long password. I looked into My Profile/Account to see if there is somewhere to change the signin option to just the passcode but I didn't find it. Has anyone else found a way to set the login process to ask for just the 4-digit passcode? Well, at least it is otherwise working great. Hopefully they are still working on the login process and a few other "quirks" like saying the car was accidentally unplugged right after it has just told me that my car is now fully charged.
  18. I still can't get the 4-digit passcode to work on my Samsung Galaxy S3. 'Must have typed it many times, over several tries. After I type in the passcode, the only option to "Enter" is the "Go" button on the phone's virtual keyboard. 'Don't know what else to try. Suggestions? I do like the new MyFord Mobile features once I get into the app (using my email address and regular password), but am confused what many of the new readings stand for. I would love to see my Lifetime Summary in the app. Or is it there and I'm just not finding it? Thanks.
  19. I am sorry to be so dense that I can't follow what is being discussed, but what are you all talking about with the "second notice" and all that? I'm in the forum now but still am not understanding what is being discussed in relation to the MyFord Mobile app and cell phones, etc. I appear to be getting all the data I need on the MyFord Mobile app when I sign in, except that I too have gotten those silly "Your car was accidentally unplugged" texts/emails after I unplug it to drive it when it has been fully charged. Also, I gave up on using the 4-digit pass code. I just use my email address and password every time. Thanks.
  20. Wow, these figures are very encouraging! Thank you so much to everyone for letting us know your experiences. So if I understand correctly ... for long road trips I should not select any of the EV modes if I won't be able to recharge the battery on a regular basis. Thanks again.
  21. I would really like to know what the true MPG is for the car when in hybrid mode. I suspect it isn't very good. I've seen readings in just the 20s when the battery is depleted and when I've been in just hybrid mode since the last time I turned the car on. But maybe it's better than that. I remember that the MPG for my Prius was pretty bad when I first filled up with gas; then it would go up into the 40s after a while. I would never expect the Fusion Energi to get MPG anything like the Prius, but a true MPG for hybrid even in the high 20s would be okay. Anyhow, I for one would love to know what the actual MPG is for the car when it's running only in hybrid mode. Thanks.
  22. Hi, Zman11. Yes, I know I read something about breaking in the car in the owner's manual and I'm sure larryh has covered it well. Would you let us all know how your trip goes? What MPG did you get using in hybrid mode? Were you able to find any charging stations? If so, which brand/name? Were you already a member of that brand/name? Did you have to use a credit card or something that you got from the charging company? I've been thinking about taking a trip of similar length later this Summer but am not optimistic about finding charging stations. But that's why I got a plug-in hybrid. I hope you have a good and safe trip. We'll look for your "report" after you get back. Thanks!
  23. Hi, Zman11. I wasn't hitting the Return key. After I typed in the 4th of the 4 digits, I immediately hit the "submit" or "Go" or "Signin" button. (Don't have the app open right now.) It did take at least a few days before I got everything to work. It does now send me a text and email when the charge is complete. But it still doesn't send me a text or email when my car is unplugged, although maybe it's because I have only charged while at home and maybe it won't send the alerts for unplugging because it knows I'm home. So give it a couple of days and hopefully you will have all the features. It's a great app, although it won't let me sign in today - at least not on my cell phone from home.
  24. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 also but it's being quirky today. It offered to let me select a 4-digit code and I did and confirmed it, but instead of letting me into the MyFord Mobile app, it keeps asking me to input the 4-digit code. Then when I put the code in, it keeps asking for it again. It doesn't say I put in the wrong thing ... it just isn't working right. It's just taking me around and around in circles. I have powered the phone off/on but no improvement. I'll try again later today.
  25. So there's a new version of MyFord Mobile? I'll try to see if it has an update for me. Right now the app isn't opening at all. It still hasn't been sending me alerts when I unplug my car. I wonder if maybe it's because it knows the car is at my home. That's the only place I've charged my car. I would love to find a restaurant that has on-site car charging but I don't even have a Blink account yet.
