Top Ten Best Looking EV Cars On Sale Today
Mikesan replied to meyersnole's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
My first hybrid was a 2008 Civic. Second a Camry Hybrid. Liked the first, really liked the second. I'll be honest. I got the Energi because it was cheaper (after rebates) than the Fusion hybrid. Now that I made room in the garage to plug it in, I'm liking the 20 "free" miles I get each day. When the solar guys finally get out to hook up the electrical it'll really be free. Always disliked the "look at me, I love the environment more than you do" styling of the Prius. Wondered why they didn't just use the Corolla platform. I'm sure some focus group steered them in that direction. -

We were looking to use the charging station at Target the other day, but needed a chargepoint card (since applied for). Wonder how much longer those charging stations will be free and near the front of the store. Really, the Tesla guy needs a better parking spot than joe six pack in his 03 Accent. -
I remember growing up in Maine in the late 70's/early 80's. Most highways and state roads were two lanes. You drove in the right lane and passed on the left. Everyone knew that and respected it. You learned how to build up speed before passing and to judge when to make that pass. Then I come to Calif with 4 and 5 lanes and everyone seems to pick a lane and plop their butts in it regardless of who they are holding up.

When we built the house, we planned for it. Attached garage holds three cars and the semi-detached one holds 5. That said, the truck and the van sit outside collecting oak leaves. Might be selling the '68 Mustang to a friend so I have room for the truck. I know, first world problems! My (crazy) wife is trying to get me to build another house on acreage. She's offering a large shop/barn/garage building as inducement. Not taking the bait. I'm happy for now. You're right about the GT500. More than enough power to get yourself killed in no time. I rarely drive it. I'm the idiot keeping the miles low for the next buyer or my kid.

Went to Leviton's website and they are running a promotion for 20% off if you use the promo code CHATAWAY. Used it today to buy the Evr-Green 320 32 amp Level 2 station with 18' cord and accessories. With tax and standard shipping it was $725. Regular price $839 plus tax and shipping. Not sure how long it will go but if you're in the market..... Just thought I'd pass the info along.

My thoughts are that you should prioritize other drivers before your own fuel efficiency. Save when you can, but don't be the slob who makes everyone wait for you. Gawd, those drivers piss me off.

Other cars driven on a regular basis: 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie and 2015 Honda Accord Coupe. Have a few fun toys in the garage that get out rarely if ever: 2012 Camaro Convertible SS 45th anniversary, 2006 Pontiac Solstice (4000 miles), 2007 GT500 (3200 miles). Then there are the classics: 1964 Riviera, 1968 Mustang coupe (restored with less than 1000 miles), and 1968 Pontiac GTO with 25,000 original miles. And the least sexy one of all a 2013 silver Econoline 12 passenger van.

Why we bought a plug in hybrid electric car
Mikesan replied to doug's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
I did it to kick OPEC and other USA hating countries in the nuts. Solar panels were installed a couple weeks ago and still need the electricians to come out and wire them up. Thinking about my later years when I'll have no mortgage, no electric bill, and if careful, very little gas to buy. Have to admit that the rebates and tax credits made the energi cheaper than a regular hybrid. That made a huge difference as well. -
Recent article on plug in incentives
Mikesan replied to meyersnole's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
I agree. The purpose of incentinves ought to be to get as many of these cars on the road as possible, not more government-driven wealth redistribution. While I am taking advantage of these incentives, I think they should be eliminated. The technology ought to justify the price without gov't influences. I also believe that government provided incentives allow manufacturers to keep their prices higher than they would be without them. -
Hi All, Purchased a 2014 Ruby Red SE Fusion Energi this weekend. So far, so good. Too much to learn. Applied for the Calif $1500 rebate. Have my CPA looking at the supposed $4007 Fed Tax Credit. Need to research 240V chargers and wait for my license plates so I can get the Green HOV sticker. That form is filled out, but need that one piece of info. Traded a 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE. Fusion feels much richer with the options it has, but that Camry served me well as it averaged 43 mpg and got me $20,000 in trade. Also need to deal with power company and see what I need to do as far as rate plans and finding a contractor to upgrade my garage 220V to 240V. Hoping it's all worth it.
