ICE = Internal Combustion Engine. The boom-boom-splody bang-bang noisemaker heat-waster under the hood. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I believe that is what is occurring. I couldn't hear the pictures being taken, so I assume they were at the right time. Although I think on my car if the switch is set to off, all lights are off. I read through my manual PDF, and it had this to say: "When the daytime running lamps are switched on in the information display and you switch the ignition to the on position with the lighting control in the autolamps position, the daytime running lamps turn on whenever the headlamps are off. The other lighting control switch positions do not activate the daytime running lamps and can be used to temporarily override autolamp control. When switched off in the information display, the daytime running lamps are off in all lighting control switch positions. " This would indicate to me that we have been going about this wrong (as i've been turning the switch off). The daytime picture must have been taken when I was flipping the switch to the off position (i took the night one myself). And now I'm confused. I'll check again tomorrow.

Exactly. It's an important note for people plugging their cars in in their garage.

12' wouldn't make it to my car, and the outlet is right in front of the right headlight! I like the tip you posted elsewhere about running a length of string first to see how much you need. It occurs to me it'd be pretty handy to mount it overhead on one of those spring-loaded tethers you see mechanic's shops and oil change stations use.

It's great to know that someone at Ford is watching these boards. That's proactive customer service right there.

Don't use both the charger and the EBH on the same circuit unless you know the circuit can handle it. I have the EBH on a zWave switch so I can selectively shut it off and turn it on remotely. The switch used to control lights, so it was turning on by itself until I fixed the programming. Luckily I have a whole-house energy monitor that alerted me the circuit was being over-loaded. Breaker did not pop.

That's very useful Hybridbear! I just did that. The left front door signal (not tweeter) is very quiet. There seems to be a lot of useful diagnostic information there. Thanks again!

I did, hence my "can't duck [i.e. reduce] them enough," which I now realize isn't very clear, my apologies. It is illegal to drive with earbuds in both ears in Minnesota (but fine with just one, and I was kind of joking). It is legal in most states though, which makes sense. A quiet car with the stereo on is at least as isolating as most headphones. Also, deaf people drive just fine without any aural input. As far as the sound goes, my salesman helped me compare another FFT's stereo to mine. Mine is most definitely broken somehow, and it now sounds like the whole door has up and quit. Probably a wiring or amp problem. To top it off, I have a CEL on now. Car's falling apart already! :hysterical:

The day photo is misleading. It's being taken from a dark garage into a bright bright day. It's brighter in person. It's about what my VW's DRLs were.

I can't stand the Sony system in the Fusion. It sounds like utter garbage next to the speakers in my trade-in, a 2013 Jetta Sportwagen. WAY too much mids (I can't duck them enough with the controls), the front door speakers (the lower speaker) sound like flapping paper, and the imaging is super touchy, and the treble is brittle. It's almost listenable if I slide my seat all the way back, but that's not a comfortable position to drive. Makes me wonder if the guy who drove my car to the dealer (it was a dealer trade) blew out the sound system before it got there. Or if something's broken. The whole left side seems to "pop" on a few minutes after I start listening. Good thing I have some good headphones, sounds like I'm going to need them. Is this how this system sounds, or is it just mine?

Alright. So took a few pictures. Some were too bright, and the others had the ambers on. See below. Night Photo. Day Photo.

You ran yours outside? Sorry, just clarifying, because I did mention the HVAC route. It's something that will have to wait a bit (for tax returns and such) but I'll most definitely be getting it done.
-
You bet. I'll be leaving around 1300, so I'll get it done then. Sorry for the delay.

Could have used my FFE yesterday!!

That'll learn ya. ;) -
Looks about like this. There is a little bulb above the high-beam. You can turn them off using the Left-hand steering wheel control if you wish. I don't know why anyone would though, they make the car look sexy IMHO. If you look at my introduction post, you can see my car with both the projectors (low beams) and the DRLs lit on the innermost part of the headlamp assembly. I'll take a picture next time I'm out and about with the DRLs on.

My house has a finished half basement (the windows are at ground level - you get some interesting views of squirrels). There is theoretically a way to run wires along side the HVAC in the ceiling, or so I've been told. It actually wouldn't be that difficult to run a conduit outside. Can't say I considered/was aware of the option. I very much appreciate your input though, thank you.

I've been reading up on the OpenEV 30A build and it not only seems like the kind of thing I'd love to do, but the end result seems like a solid product. I might very well go that route. Can't beat the cost either.

I had a great experience with them. My salesman was a great guy named Todd. They did have an issue as they sold a lot of cars (5 within the day) the day I was supposed to pick up and had some extra warranty service work so my pick-up appointment got pushed back about two and a half hours or so, which frustrated Todd to no end because we'd been on the schedule for a day. Aside from that hiccup it was a great experience. They don't push anything on you and give no-nonsense answers. He also spent almost an hour walking us through every feature before we even asked to purchase one.

Yes, I did mean 14-50, it was a transposition on my part. As far as the solar system goes, The wires for the panels and such will need to be run at some point anyway, and running them all together makes more sense than doing it separately, in my thoughts, anyway. Did you do the install for your outlet yourself? While I'm comfortable doing the work, I'd probably want at least a how-to. I realized sometime after I posted this that there is a more suitable section it could reside in, if you would like to move it, please do.

Thank you. I must admit that the verbiage in the Quick Reference sheet is quite misleading if this is the case. It would be a lot better if the car analyzed frequent trips and then applied EV power at the most beneficial places. This would take some forward-thinking on Ford's end.

Just from the two days I've owned my FFET, I've seen how the Level 1 charger is limited. I've also seen a few options for the 240v. The best price to output options seem to be Clipper Creek like the one linked below: Clipper Creek HCS-40P But I'm not even sure that the FFET can take advantage of those 32 amps, and the price is considerably cheaper if you go with lower amps. Our service box is on the other side of the house from the garage We'll call that distance 30-40 feet. We're looking to have a NEMA 15-40 plug installed, as well as future-proofing for an eventual solar system on the roof of the garage. Has anyone done a similar install, even if only just the plug? If so, what were your costs and how long did it take?

If you have an iPhone (on iOS 8.0 for me, not sure if it works in 7) you can just tell Siri to "Turn Off BlueTooth" and she'll do it for you, no unlocking needed and no fingers if the phone is plugged in and "Hey Siri" is turned on. I think Android's have similar functionality with google now, but my wife's Android is so flakey I haven't tested it on hers. (note: I happen to own an iPhone because of the fact it came out first, I have nothing against Androids)

Hello all! I recently leased a 2015 Tectonic Silver FFET. I got a pretty good deal on it, 18k a year for 425$/month. It's an interim step between our 2013 Jetta Sportwagen TDI and our goal, a Tesla (S or X, not sure yet.) The money we're earning on the trade in (also a great deal, they pretty much gave us private party price) will go towards some outstanding debt we have (a home improvement loan - our HVAC is now 97% and 14.5 respectively - not just your car can be efficient!). Loving the car so far. Was wondering if anyone had experience with EV+ Mode, because I see a lot of stories about flipping between Auto and EV Later, and had thought this was roughly the point of EV+. As excellent as the FFE is, it's fairly easy to see places that Ford could have tweaked it to make it better. That and I still haven't gotten the stereo where I want it sound-wise. It's got some really strong midrange and the adjustments seem unresponsive. What ever happened to those 10-position or 8-position EQs that cars used to have? Photo attached! It got dirty pretty much as soon as it left the dealer... thanks Minnesota winters. It's hard to tell it's actually dirty though. We didn't pick out the color, just said "Get us this car with these features". Can't say I don't like it though, reminds me of a 2000 Camaro I used to have.

Charging Energy needed to charge FFE similar to what a freezer needs?
Rhynri replied to howardbc's topic in 2013 Fusion Energi
I have exactly this use case, with a freezer on the same circuit as the EV. Attached you'll find a dropbox link to a screenshot I took of the circuit the 110v charger for my FFET is on. You can clearly see the freezer as a little "chair" shape that peaks first at 180w, then settles to 140watts. The car pulls just a hair more than 1400watts. Usually 1420w or so. This software (and the very accurate circuit reading hardware) can resolve draws as small as a few watts (I've seen 4watts tested at wall show as 4 watts in the software...) According to the use-by-cost pie chart, even after two days of charging the cost for that circuit is moving up, and will likely eclipse my kitchen circuit, which has a large fridge/freezer combo, the 500watt igniter for my gas stove (which is stupid if you ask me) and the 1500 watt Panasonic IR Oven I use daily on it. Hopefully this gives you a better idea of your usage. https://www.dropbox.com/s/n9oii1io9earf0h/Screenshot%202014-11-15%2008.40.07.png?dl=0
