Hello, I took my car in for an oil change today and was told i needed a coolant flush. I ended up getting it done. From what i read online, it's needed every 30K miles or so (I have 67k). However, when i go on Ford's website and look at the maintenance schedule, i see no mention of it. How would they know if it was needed? I was left skeptical whether the service advisor was upselling me because of a few other issues that came up. Unfortunately, I know little about cars but had a bad vibe!

TCU Onboard embedded modem firmware update 1.4.4

I got mine working by pulling the fuse, too. However, I still want to get the firmware upgrade and curious to know what people paid, or if done under warranty. -
TCU Onboard embedded modem firmware update 1.4.4
cegarbage replied to luckyleo's topic in 2017-2018 Fusion Energi
I had the modem swapped out about 2 years ago. I had it swapped out right when the update came out, cant remember how long ago it was. Now i have 50k miles on the car, and my ford mobile told me i needed 1.4.6. Dealer wanted to charge me $129 to fix it and i declined. What additional warranty coverage came with the 3g modem? -
Clock falls behind 10 minutes constantly

Once I reset the circuit breaker to get the ford app working two weeks ago, the clock has been able to retain its time without a problem. -
Clock falls behind 10 minutes constantly

In the 10 days since I posted this, I let it continue and now I'm up to 20. My app doesn't work today, unsure if it's a time sync issue. If it's a battery issues, Is the standard battery covered by the 3/36 or 5/50 part of the warranty? I've gotten no error messages on my dashboard. -

No, i haven't gotten any battery warnings.... -
I have a 2015 FFE. Over the last few months, my clock falls behind 10 minutes. I reset it, and within a few days it goes back to 10 minutes behind. I can see it progressively occur as i check the time when i get in and out of the car. Anyone experience the issue?

Thanks for the clarification of the 20,000 miles. Is the oil change indicator percent gauge smart enough to understand the difference between electric and non electric usage?

I have a 2015 Fusion Energi. Manual says to change every 1 year, or 10,000 miles. I have driven 12,000 miles in the last 8 months. I'm averaging about 57MPG a tank, so I'm guessing I've driven about 9,000 gas miles. My oil change indicator says 33%. So, if it hasn't been a year yet, and the oil change is still above 5% or so, is there a need to change the oil even if I go above 10,000 miles?

I have a 2015 FFE. I have an external Sirius XM device mounted in the car. I can toggle between AM/FM, Audio Video, my phone, etc. etc. how i please. One thing I've notice is that if I'm in Audio/Video listening to Sirius XM, put the car in park to do something, then put back in drive, the audio/video message takes up the whole screen, and I don't see the AM/FM button on the left, my phone, and all the other options. The only way I can get it back to normal is to turn off the ignition and restart the car. Anyone else see that in their car?

Both of my analysis are done at the same point in time. The trip indicator has never been manually reset, the last time it changed over was at 10,000 miles.

I’m trying to draw some statistics to determine how much usage is electric vs. gas/hybrid on my 2016 FFE If each kilowatt gives me 4 miles, then I got about 2,508 miles (627*4) from plugging in. This is stating about 35% of my miles are electric (2507/7207) However, if this car is supposed to get around 40 miles per gallon on fuel, and I’m getting 82mpg, than that would mean I should be getting 50% electric miles. Either my car is getting more miles per kilowatt, or more miles per gallon. Anyone do similar testing?

They ended up replacing the battery and PCM Power relay.

Looking for some feedback before i take my car in. My car wouldn't start this morning. Turned the ignition and heard nothing but a click. 10 hours later, I had a tow truck over. I gave him my keys, and he opened the door and the car turned on. It turned on a wrench on the display, and sync booted up as if it was doing a software update. Both never occur. I ran vehicle health report and nothing comes up. The driver thought the battery was dead, but it concerns me the car went from non responsive to deciding to start to charge without anything occuring (but 10 hours passing by the time i got back home and made a call). I normally drive in electric mode. The car did sit idle for a week, and yesterday I drove it in electric mode for 10 minutes with no problem. He felt it was the battery, and stated the battery doesn't charge if the car is only in electric mode. (The only other thing worth..i think it's insignificant... noting is yesterday I turned the ignition off in the middle of re-pairing my phone. That was the last thing I did till this morning) After the tow truck left, I drove in engine mode a few miles. When I got back in the car, the lights flickered on and off, then back on. I drove the car another 10 minutes with the gas going. I got home. When I locked, instead of hearing the usual beep, it sounded more like a wounded duck. This car is a 2015 Energi SE with 17,000 miles on it.

I dropped my charger. Looks like a little piece off the top broke. Does it cause any harm to the car to use it w/o what fell off? Think it was a white tab on top.

A few months ago I got an android update for the ford app and it said google voice support. I'm trying to view my texts and make outgoing calls showing my google hangouts/voice id and still don't have any luck. The only way I can make a call showing my google voice ID is if I initiate in the car via hangouts (on the phone) instead of the car touch screen. Has anyone got it to work?

I fill up my car with gas about once a month. Since one month is 3 weeks longer than my old cars, I normally work the tank way down to get rid of all the old stuff. Is this necessary? Does that car have the ability to use the old stuff first when mixed with a new tank of gas?

I have two questions on the 2016 FFE. 1. Does it still require 2G cell connectivity, or was it upgraded to 3G 2. Does it have "Sirius", or "SiriusXM" branding. If it has Sirius XM, it gets channels above 200 (basically, an XM signal instead of a Sirius signal)
-
I have two questions. 1. When I fill up with the regular charger that came with my 2015/FFE, it completes the charge to 100% but still states it takes .2H left on 110V or .1 left on a 240V. However, when I'm at work and use Chargepoint, it will say .0 on the 110/240 and say 100% of the charge was completed. It looks like I'm getting a bit more of a charge on the 240 than the 110. Why is that? 2. Whenever my car is fully charged, and depleted by driving, it normally says 5.8kWh used on the trip log. That's 17% less 7.0kWh. Is that normal?

Yes, my window may be too small. Other best practices i read state to not let it charge up to 100% completely, I was trying to get it in the 90% range. I may have reduced my window to four hours in the middle of the night. If that's the case, Ford doesn't design the software to accomodate partial charging.
-
Raja, I don't see any reference in your article about waiting for the car to cool off to charge it. Do you do that? I thought it would be easy to incorporate by changing my setting to "value charge". However, I notice value charge still immediately charges my car up to about 40%, then does the rest at the value charge time
-
Raja, I like yours. Please add if you find anything relevant! The other thread is white-paperish. I wish I could go back in time and be an engineer. I'd like to sit down and read it when I have time to follow along. Thanks!

Has Ford, or anyone, compiled a list of best practices in regards to getting the most out of the plug in? I'm looking for something like this, but from a FFE point of view. http://www.plugincars.com/eight-tips-extend-battery-life-your-electric-car-107938.html

Regenerative braking when 100% charged.
cegarbage replied to cegarbage's topic in Batteries & Charging
From what I have seen, when I initially plug in with a depleted battery, it will give me a time notification in the @5.5 hour range. Normally, the ETC time to complete on the app will shorten by about 20 minutes or so over the course of the charge. What I am noticing is it's normally finishing an hour earlier. Based on that, I don't believe it's a weak signal notification at the end of a charge causing the issue. One day when I'm home I'm going to setup 10% increment notifications and see if I can figure out how it's getting so far off. -
Regenerative braking when 100% charged.
cegarbage replied to cegarbage's topic in Batteries & Charging
Since I drive downhill and have the ability to regenerate 5% by driving, I decided to set an alert to notify me when the car is 90% full. I did it a few times, but each time I walked out to my car, it was already 100% full. Today, I dropped the alert down to 80%. I immediately walked out to my car and it was 91% charged. Is this normal?
