Raja, He was very opinionated, and has been since I've known him on the FEH forum. I'm actually wondering how his Energi is doing with all the stuff he does to the battery, but I don't think the neutral use will have any effect on the transmission. And yes, he used a lot of neutral to achieve his mileage. He posted some videos over on the Greenhybrid FEH forum if you are interested, but I don't have a direct link. My 2008 FEH had a lifetime of 30 or so with AWD, and I was pleased with that.

Since I live here, I can see that as true...

Me personally? Just about every day. I generally get 25 miles out of my EV, and most days I use at least 95% of it. The i3 decision would have to be based on the distance traveled and capability of charging at work. Too many variables. But I personally would spring for at least the L2 charger at my house.
-
I looked it up. It takes about 15 hours to recharge an i3 on a L1 charger. That makes it unrealistic for daily use at it's full charge capacity. It all depends on the range needed. I compare it to my use, where I charge only at home. I would require a L2 connection with a BMW i3 for my use.

What ever happened to GaryG anyway? He is in another league for hypermiling, and I wonder what his numbers are right now. EDIT: I mean, the man achieved mid 50s MPG on a 2009 Escape Hybrid, while the second best I know of was around 40. And that was lifetime MPG.

A L1 charger with the i3? Man, would that even complete an overnight charge?

Who is #1?

I would expect the opposite, because I think the interior volume is larger on the C-Max due to the high roof.

film on inside of windows
stevedebi replied to chris's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
I take two microfiber cloths. Get one very lightly damp. Use that to wipe the windshield. Then take the dry one and go over the windshield. You have to use a bit of elbow grease with the dry cloth, but it does come off with water. If you use too much water on the first cloth, it just streaks around and is actually harder to get off. -
Best use of AUTO/EV/EV Later modes for my 67 mile commute
stevedebi replied to TDurickMD's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I like using the Auto mode for uphill. Go to EV Later when entering the freeway, then when the hill gets there let the engine get a couple thousand RPM and then switch to Auto. Leave it in auto until you get back down to the other side of the hill, and switch back to EV Later. Then switch to EV Now when you exit the freeway. Do the exact same thing when you drive home. I find it is most efficient to use the battery to assist the ICE when going uphill, rather than using EV Now on the uphill. If you can charge at work, the you could use up some more of the HVB getting there, and then use up more getting back. I'm assuming you can't do that, and only charge up at home. -
Hackers Remotely Kill a Jeep on the Highway
stevedebi replied to Hybridbear's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Well, they could kill the cellular connection when the car is in gear. That would solve the issues. -
Yes, but that isn't a very big draw.

Statistics since last full charge
stevedebi replied to isaaktnt's topic in Energi Driving Tips & Tricks
Yes, unfortunately that is another thing they dropped after the MY13 - the guages used to show the indicated MPGe on the "instant" guages. With MY14 and later, it just shows 999 anytime you are in EV. -
Get it to a Ford Dealer. There is something wrong with the charging system.

I knew what you meant...

Ford vehicles use what is called a Running Average Fue Economy (RAFE) to calculate range. This value is computed periodically based on the mileage recorded. So you will have more range if you drive carefully. They add the electric separately, rather than use MPGe. I'm not quite sure what length of time they use for this value on the FFE. But anyway, that value is used to calculate range. As others have noted, it is range to empty on the guage, not to an empty tank.

Take a look at the owner manual and do what it recommends. Some engines are made to provide more HP with premium (my Honda Odyssey was that way), but I don't think Ford ever does this. In the case of my Honda, it wasn't enough of an increase to justify the price anyway.

Maybe not in Minn, but here in LA I've had great service from Galpin Ford. I've owned a hybrid for 7 years, always serviced there.

Sync Scheduled Maintenance Today at 10:30 AM Eastern
stevedebi replied to Markn455's topic in Audio, Navigation & SYNC
This is normal. It just means that the program is cleaning up the hard drive and settings proactively. -
Ha! Made me go out and look. Yes, there are four options on the POI screen, and they all seem to work.
-
Just to kick in here, the right dash screens do work on the C-Max Energi. I use the "Favorite Destinations" all the time, as well as "Home". EDIT: Maybe it is an FFE thing, but for the most part I think the software tends to be the same.

The Volt has active cooling on the battery, hence there is less need to precondition the car. I'm not sure if it has a battery warmer as well. The "Go" times are for the benefit of the battery, not the passenger.

Charging doesn't stop when car fully charged
stevedebi replied to Hokyfan's topic in Batteries & Charging
HB, Raja is using an L1 charger, maybe that is what he meant about the six hour window. -
Larry, I've not seen anywhere that the outside door is open except during charging of the HVB. It would seem counterintuative by Ford to open the outside vents during driving, since the entire design intent was that the driver would be using A/C during hot weather, to route cooler cabin air to the HVB.

HB, Yeah, I learned it from your posts. Not sure if I ever said thanks - so, Thanks!
