Both models you have cited come with the car-side (wired per SAE J1772 spec) plug. One of them also has a plug for the house-side that you would plug into an electric dryer-type 220v outlet. The other model wires direct to your house wiring, no plug needed and it's enclosure is not exterior rated. Again, both should have a plug that goes into the car. If not, maybe you got someone's return. Someone who ripped off wherever you bought it from.

Anyone else gotten a "Driver alert" message?
Scooter80 replied to howardbc's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Just to help you in your learning, the pre-conditioning will improve your range (not directly, but) by reducing the need for power during the initial few minutes of your trip getting the cabin to your set temp. Instead of using battery power to do this, it uses your house electricity to do so. So your car's fan and air should only need to MAINTAIN the temperature, thereby reducing the drain on the battery and improving EV mielage. As for the driver alertness, it is directly related to steering wheel input tied in to the secondary factor, the lane keeping camera, even the finest of adjustments you make to keep close to the center of the lane should prevent the system alerting you. Take your hands off to do make-up or read the paper and it will let you know you did. -
I think I must be having an issue with my autolamp sensor. It is okay for a bit after I pull out of the garage i.e. lights are off as they should be. But then after our first errand and having parked in a parking lot in the stifling heat and bright sun, the autolamps came on with the car. Could not get them to turn off except by turning the dial to off. Continued throughout the day of errands. Wife (whom normally drives the car daily) has reported the problem persists, though also sometimes does not present itself at all. When the issue is present it requires you to turn off the lights manually since it will dramatically reduce the visibility of the screens when the lights are on mid-day! I am thinking the heat on the expansive dash might be affecting the light sensor in the little bubble there. Anyone else? Might be a service visit soon to address this, auto window, and the "trunk laziness" TSB.

Working yet? I don't know what to tell you other than this is what worked for me.

Looking up in that grille and previous experience with similar high-end features in various vehicles in the last decade. Since Ford's documentation for its consumers is quite dumbed-down lately, it's more educated guessing than fact. I probably should have prefaced my post with that.

It appears to be in the grille area in the panel with the overhead lights and moonroof controls (if so equipped). The smaller outboard ones are indeed noise-canceling related.

New iOS update today! Very cool history/trends and last trip info! Coming along nicely.

Anyone know about the spare tire on the Energi?
Scooter80 replied to jsamp's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Yes, no spare. You get a small compressor with an integrated can of fix-a-flat. There is a whole procedure laid out in the manual. -
Insurance Company not able to determine Energi model

State Farm here too. First day I called it in, she told me I had a hybrid. I told her it was the plug-in version. She said she didn't see that option, but this should be fine. Got my cards in the mail. Then the crash. Body shop took all the info and sent me on my way. They called shortly thereafter and asked me to verify the VIN. Did so. They said they had it right, but their system couldn't find the car so it wouldn't let them estimate. They worked some magic and estimated by hand I guess, since it got done, but I had a re al uh-oh moment when they said they couldn't do it. Long story short, I'm insured, but I don't know if it is for the right car yet, or if I'm paying the right amount. Oh well, it's up to State Farm to get the details ironed out. Bottom line is they paid for the repairs, so I'm happy. -
Just hit 800 miles and still have 1/8 tank - What does the Future Bring?
Scooter80 replied to DAVE's topic in Fuel Mileage
I think the big thing you are referring to as far as premium fuels lasting longer, at least here in the Midwest, is their ethanol content. Some premium fuels contain no ethanol, while most others and all lower grades contain some and are up to 10% ethanol. Since ethanol attracts water, any fuel containing it will go bad far sooner than a premium that does not. Water-logged gas will also cause premature wear and ethanol is known to eat away o-rings and gaskets faster than non-ethanol fuels. I feel silly filling my gas can for the mower with premium, but its either that or deal with the additives that counteract this attraction. I've not done the math, but I think a gallon of premium is cheaper and easier than buying and adding the additives since I only use one or two gallons a year in the mower and snowblower. Now, that would probably change on a full tank of gas for the Fusion, but since my wife has a long commute with it, we fuel it about once every two weeks, so I'm not concerned with gas going bad in it, so it gets regular. I don't think there is any reason to use a premium fuel in a vehicle that only needs regular, other than to mitigate staling due to ethanol content and (to a lesser extent) volatility of lesser grades. -
Door handle touch locks
Scooter80 replied to Russael's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I've been through the wash a few times (bad water here that makes it nearly impossible to hand-wash), and I can say for sure you will not have any locking/unlocking issues while your remote is in the vehicle with you. And my experience (judging by when my passengers reach the car before me and try to open the vehicle) has been that the car will lock out any attempts to open the car for a short period of time if an attempt is made without the remote. -
It does seem strange that the car could cause two units to fail, but it also seems strange that two units would fail!! I like the idea of heading to your nearest EV certified Ford dealer and testing their unit. May I also say that it is outstanding that Leviton is concerned enough to fly a tech out to examine the issue!! After so many customer service horror stories (and my personal thought that customer service no longer exists) it is awesome that they are taking the time, money and effort to not just send out another unit, but to try to determine why they are failing!! Well done Leviton! Good luck with the issue. I hope they can help. Maybe you have an update by now?

Ahhhh, that makes sense. It appears mine is just not as well fit as it used to be and as Larry's looks. Thanks for the help all!! Here's mine for reference. Alot of filler dust too! I won't be using this bodyshop again. Should have learned the first time. They did a bit of hail damage on my Audi and the seatbelt didn't work afterwards, requiring a return trip as well. Ugh!

Awesome! It does! One more thing though. That outermost rubber bit... If you touch it, are you able to to "flap" or curl it away from the LED ring, or is it rolled behind it?
-
Got the car back from the body shop today, but all is not perfect. Panel alignment was pretty poor and the body guy had left for the day already, so I'll have to take it back to have them adjust that. But I need to ask a favor of someone! I went to plug it in and inspected the charge port closer than I ever have and noticed the rubber gasket or weatherstrip around it is not as I remember. It appears to be more "flappy" (for lack of a better term) than I think it should be. Can someone shoot a close up of their open charge port? The rubber I'm talking about rings the whole port closest to the LED ring. I'm thinking it should tuck behind the fender somehow, but that they didn't know that and installed it incorrectly. It's be awesome if someone could shoot a pic so I have it for them to reference when I go back in. Thanks in advance!!!

Welcome to 2020: Ford Fusion Energi Technology
Scooter80 replied to doug's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I have ECO cruise, but I do not have adaptive. ECO is a selection you can make in the car's settings in the left-hand screen. -
Body shop called yesterday. Ford sent the wrong fender. No cutout for charge port. Appointment delayed a day. We'll see if Ford can get it right. Can't imagine there's been much call for Energi parts yet, so I can't blame them.

Anyone changed appearance of grill? Maybe blacked out?
Scooter80 replied to howardbc's topic in Appearance
The active grill shutters close at 62mph to help aerodynamics. Ford engineers have hinted at firmware updates in the future to have them close in colder months at lower speeds to allow the engine (which may not always be running of course) to stay warmer and for longer. For now, they are simple active shutters for aerodynamics and there is no user input. -
Cool! Glad it finally worked for you. Yeah, I get a good giggle out of some of the stuff she translates texts to. Wait till she verbalizes emoticons! Good times!

Nothing wrong at all with leaving it plugged in. Like has been mentioned by others, the car will shut down charging when it is done, drawing near nothing from your house and yet being ready for go times and remote starts drawn on house current.

It's working with my iPhone. I had to go into the Bluetooth network settings on the iPhone and enable a feature that is not by default. After pairing the iPhone to the sync system: Go to "settings" on the iPhone. Select "Bluetooth" Hit the chevron by "SYNC" Slide "show notifications" to "on" That should do it. It worked for mine anyhow. Iphone4 running iOS 6.1.3

Wow! I love my Energi, but I don't know if I could have made the choice you did! I had an '06 GT and am still sorry I ditched it 5yrs ago. Well, that and my first car, an '88 LX. You're right though, seeing the mileage of this one is a real kick!
