  1. Ford specifies a fixed time and payment for warranty work. If they have never done this one before it will take longer than the time specification. i.e. they lose money on the repair.

Really? That a terrible way to run a business. No wonder it took 8 dealers to find one interested in actually servicing my vehicle here in Canada. Most have no experience with these vehicles so many repairs will be at a loss to the dealer and they have no incentive to even want to take on the work. Another problem that originates from Ford corporate despite them always passing the buck onto the franchises.

  2. I believe it was Hybridbear that posted either here or on the full hybrid forum that a Ford rep told him 3g modems were in the works for our vehicles. Lincoln getting them is a good sign. If Ford were ever to get something, Lincoln usually gets it first.

  3. The battery is warranted for 8 years or 100,000 miles whichever comes first. I think it is even higher in California.

Sure, but the warranty only covers that the battery functions. The warranty allows for degradation. There are people who only get 4.5kWh (in the summer) from their battery after less than two years and 60000 miles and ford does nothing. The warranty is irrelevant when discussing battery life.

  4. Same thing at the dealership atm. Value charge profile set for 12 am to 7am. Go time for 430pm. Vehicle is waiting until 12am to charge.

They say the 12v has failed their test and is likely the source of the go time problem and will be replaced.

Edit: 12v was replaced. It is now charging now (7pm) despite being set to value charge with the next value charge window at 12am and the next go time at 645am. Basically the opposite problem as before. The value charge is not working. Maybe for the same reason as hybridbear suggested when he was experiencing similar: it did not get a full charge yesterday.

Edit2: it is now waiting to charge after charging to about 25%. Not sure if it's going to follow the value charge schedule or what though as it lists that it will charge from 645pm 451am. Midnight to 451am would be about right I suppose.

  5. Spoke to the IVT again on the phone today to inform them it was still broken after 3.8. They're looking into it this time and will call me back end of this or early next week.

After a few tries with one dealership and multiple calls back to the in vehicle tech team I was told things like the case was closed. There's a new case number. We can't put you through to the person I had spoken to just before I posted the above quote and eventually by both a member of the in vehicle tech team and the regional manager these forums had put me into contact with that the problem was normal and could not be fixed at this time (stop trying).

He just called me. Almost 5 months to the day from the above quote date. Asking what was going on? Why hadn't he heard back from the dealer?  Get organized Ford.

  6. 4.5 kWh is well within expectations for below freezing temperatures. I get between 4.3 and 4.8 kWh between -5c and -20c. Nearly the same as last winter. And back up to 5.4 to 5.8 kWh above +5c.

Unless ambient temps have been consistent, data from MFM would need to be correlated with ambient temperatures.

  7. It would be nice if the website had the ability to pull up data from further back. I noticed a few days ago I noticed that I am down to about 4.5 kW on a full charge. I would of liked to pull up historical data to see its loss of capacity over time, to me it seems the change to 4.5 was pretty abrupt but can't verify with MFM.

Abrupt and corresponded with winter? What ambient temperature?
  8. I have a 2015 FFE. When I first got the car in May 2015 with 6600mi on it I got 20mi on the battery. It has been at 17mi. for months now. I finally needed an oil change so last weekend I took it to the dealer which looked at it and said that the car was only charging to 87%. They reset the system and it then read 21mi. for all of 2 days. IT now reads 17mi. again. Not cool.

17 miles is pretty good for the weather most of us are experiencing this time of year. What are your average ambients temperatures and driving speeds? The range estimate is supposed to fluctuate. I wouldn't trust the dealership has any idea of what they're talking about when they said it was only charging to 87%. How many kWh are reported by MFM after a trip that fully depleted the hvb?

  9. This morning the vehicle had a go time for 5:45 am. At 5:51 am the vehicle had not even finished charging. It had a projected charge finish of 7:06 am. Both the MFM app and in car show this 5:45 am go time. The vehicle should have charged to be ready for this go time but did not. It had been plugged in since 10am Saturday and it did not override the value charge to charge in time for this go time as it had done every other time before and is designed to.

  10. Those Ontario incentives were just updated to those amounts Feb 10th. Prior to that the cap was $8500. There also appears to be some errors in the new incentives, with Bev's like the focus and leaf not receiving the extra $3000 for having a larger battery. The i3 and volt both receive all or some of this despite having smaller batteries.

If I had wait until after Nov 2015 I would have received an extra ~$1900 for my energi.

  11. I believe it was Hybridbear who posted that a Ford rep had told him 3g modems are already in the works to replace most or all existing 2g modems.

As for the op, a master reset is likely going to be the first thing Ford suggests. What other button's do not work? Can you check a value charge profile still exists and wasn't deleted by the vehicle somehow? My go times get randomly deleted about once a week.

  12. Yes, I often work 7 days a week the first 6 or so months of the year. I work manufacturing. Orders reduce going into Christmas so that stock is low for tax purposes. Than things really ramp up in the new year. I've had half a day off so far this year. I worked some 75 hours last week.

The Canadian dollar being so low will likely push that to 8 or 9 months this year.

Alright, ignoring the advertised 5mpg difference in your numbers there, the difference in cost of the vehicle alone would have still bought a lot of gas.

My boss told me today though that he is still trying to convince his boss.

  13. I'm sorry that you lost the option to charge at work... I'm not quite sure why it's such a big deal that you say you wish you had bought a different car or a different house. Not being able to charge at work means you'll use an extra 1/2 gallon of gas per day. Even at the high Canadian fuel prices, this should only be about $2-$2.50 per day extra, maybe $40 per month.

Using your $2 to $2.5, it's $43 to $75 a month when I work 7 days a week. On top of the extra cost of the vehicle and weaker fuel economy compared to a full hybrid. Total ownership cost would have been cheaper with a full hybrid. The extra cost of the vehicle over a full hybrid would have paid this extra gas cost for a number of years.

  14. What ambient temps? It is considered normal for Ev now and later to be locked out at temps below -20C(-4F) and you'll have a hard time getting a real answer from Ford on this issue. If it is happening in much warmer weather, than have them check your electric heater.

The braking issue is also something Ford will likely refuse to do anything about. Hybridbear had a engineer from Ford Corp ride with him related to this issue and the engineer said it was simply occurring near an abs evident and nothing was done. Another cmax owner eventually traded his in after nothing was done about this issue.

Thread in the fusion hybrid sister forum discussion this brake issue (note that some feel it is normal abs behaviour and some feel it is not): http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9866-regen-braking-issue-when-turning/page-9?do=findComment&comment=101670

  15. I've the opposite story. 18 months ago, before I bought my energi, I asked my boss if I would be able to plug it in here at work. I was told "yes, I don't see it being a problem." I told him some details like 7 hours a day. 120v. 8kws. I'd pay for the electricity. I was told no problem and I didn't need to worry about paying. Few months later I bought my energi. For the next year or so, even though i had permission to charge whenever, I mostly only charged at work when I did not have time to get a full charge after work before leaving for the fiancée's for the weekend or the like.

In December I bought a house near the fiancée's apartment. I again asked my boss before buying my house if I could start charging 7 hours a day at work. "Yep. No problem. You'll need to bring an extension cord though." I said great, Np! And went ahead with the purchase of my new to me house.

Before christmas I asked the two people parking in the two spots where I would be able to run an extension cord if I could trade one of them. They both said no problem. I asked my boss if my plan to run an extension cord was good after new years. He said it was a great trip hazard free plan and I bought a 100 foot extension cord.

I then charged on and off for about two weeks. Most days having to ask someone new to move their car as we had hired a lot of new people and 4 different new people were OK with this. Then we hired a new break press operator and he one day refused to move his car. So I told my boss I'm having to ask someone new everyday, sometimes the same person two days in a row and sometimes they refuse.

My boss then sent an email to the other supervisors telling them to inform their employees that those two spots were to be reserved for plug ins. Someone or multiple people took offence to this and forwarded the email to the owner. The owner now says that I can no longer plug in my car. My boss had never run it by him and the owner feels that people complaining about is making me plugging in too much of a hassle.

So now 18 months of planning have fallen apart because of some complaints. I now wish I had bought a full hybrid or that RV trailer and a smaller house or any of the other possibilities I had considered for this move and resulting commute.

I don't drink coffee. My work supplies coffee. I poured myself my first cup today and announced to the lunch room this cup of coffee (or the 3 or 4 most of you drink in a day) costs the company about as much as plugging in my car. Should I complain to the owner it is not fair I don't drink the free coffee?

  16. Not really. I get 40+ mpge on blended trips in the winter with the heat on without really trying or doing anything more than switching between auto, Ev now and Ev later at appropriate times. Good break scores, 90%+, are also easy to average and when they're not (a light changed at the last second) there's little I could do anyway

  17. There were no Dtcs in Etm suggesting, like the powertrain fault, the error will only be present the first once or twice the vehicle is started with the light on and I don't have a scanner as I don't want to give Ford anymore scapegoats as we discussed earlier in this thread. Also no dealership is interested in what I say the Dtcs are. They're only interested in seeing them themselves. So I'm not sure how it would help me at all. Other to than pay Ford the diagnostic time to check everything related to that code in the hopes they find something wrong and then the warranty would kick in.
