Hmmm. Seems likely then the drive home Saturday, in by far the worst weather this vehicle has experienced, had the BCM develop a fault and the APIM letter is just coincidence. A faulty BCM could cause the TPMS light, the wiper problem and one of the hood latches to fail to reengage?
-
Just sync? I knew what it stood for and was mostly related to sync but, technically, the TPMS are accessories.

Friday picked up 4x wheels + tpms from a ford dealer. Took them to kal tire to have them mount them and the Michelin's they had in stock my ford dealer did not. Drove it to the girlfriends ~10km away. Sat overnight. Drove it home the next afternoon. 50km into the drive the TPMS fault message comes on. Pulled over. Checked tires. Seemed fine. Drove home. Checked with gauge. Looks about 35psi. At noon today my wipers would not work. They worked on the drive home Saturday. I pull on them, they move about half a swipe then I have to push on them for them to return. Also noticed when checking on the wipers the front left hood latch does not latch making it finicky about the hood being ajar or not. Received the APIM reprogramming letter while I was at the girlfriends for the weekend. What does the APIM interface with? This APIM reprogramming was announced a few months ago I think? It's likely not related to these other problems? Just coincidence? Kal Tire tried to program the sensors thinking they were after market but could not... Possible that damaged or means the sensors need proper programming?

Rex, that's what a lot of commenters speculate when discussing articles citing these pics.

When monitoring the actual percentage don't be surprised if it drops a % or 3 over 8 or 9 hours too.

Yea, tirerack, Canadian Tire, the firestone website all only list 225 50r17. I could very easily go get them there instead. The issue is these three ford dealers are the only hybrid electric certified ford dealers within an hours drive. The tires was meant as a test. If they can't even pick correct tires and I have to push them and have to speak with multiple people to get them to even check with ford or consider the possibility they're wrong, how can the trust them to service anything complex with my car? The one certified dealer twenty minutes from my future home will have been caught in a lie over this when they confirm the info this thread with ford. They specifically told me they had put 215 60r16 on an energi. EDIT: Now they want to put 235 55r17s on. Saying that's what ford recommends. 225 50r17 or 235 55r17 anyone? The 235s have a 5% larger diameter, which will make the vehicle taller. EDIT2: I guess I will be making the hour long drive to the further hybrid electric certified dealer in the future. Fordcatires.com, linked from ford.ca, the Canadian version of the ford.com tire selector, also says 225 50r17. Suggesting they're just as mistaken about their choice of 235 55 as they were about 16".

I am aware. When he said that I said thanks, I'll call you back and hung up the phone.

I've now spoken to 5 people at parts in 3 different ford dealers. 1 gave me the story in this thread, 225 50r17 and "have to be ford rims." 2 others were so sure 215 60r16 would fit they would return them at no cost to me if they didn't and wouldn't check any further in to if they would fit or not. I managed to convince one they wouldn't fit but even after convincing him 16" wouldn't fit for reasons in this thread he wanted to stick after market 17" steel wheels on without consulting ford first. "I am ford" was his response to shouldn't you check with ford if you didn't even know 16" wouldn't work? 1 of 5 has spoken to the parts manager and is now actually going to check with ford what wheels should be used. Really brings out my faith in getting future service done at 2 of these 3 ford dealers. The 1 who agrees with this thread is a further drive but may be worth it in the long run if these two can't even be sure about wheels.
-
Can anyone else comment on 215 60R16's and specifically 16" rims on a 2014 fusion energi? Jake above say his dealer says they will not work. Murphy expects they will not work based on a mini spare. My dealer is ready to order me 215 60R16's FIrestone winterforces and some 16" steel rims. They say only the focus electric and some sport model (I forget) actually have bigger break rotors. Having previously read this thread, I asked twice that these would fit the fusion energi plug in hybrid. He mentioned the possible of bigger rotors, like mentioned here, but doubled checked and said the 16" rims are fine.

My 2014 fusion energi se turns off just fine while plugged in
-
Sure, 21 years to pay off the full $30k per car. But than you are comparing using Fusion Energi's as police cars to using a pair of shoes. Compare them to something more reasonable, say a $20k car, and you're looking at more like 8 years...
-
Yep and as I stated above, for me, that windows shows only the lightest green and darkest green just as I have set it up. I have no issues with multiple windows set to the same priority. The entire weekend is one color. The lightest green.
-
Well I feel dumb. The real reason is my Friday go time was set for 640pm instead of 640am. Must have forgot to switch the am/pm back couple weeks ago. Maybe the 2013 energi's or the version of MFM larryh was using when he posted the linked thread in june 2013 worked as he describes but, until my now explained issue today, I have had zero issues with multiple windows set to the same priority on the value charging schedules.
-
So you can't see this schedule anywhere? It just does it? That thread seems lacking when talking about instances of the vehicle charging out of value charge. All I see is you saying you have to create 5 different priorities and then examples if it charging to these priorities. Then discussion about draw to charge the 12v. What evidence do you draw from the conclusion you have to create 5 different priority windows? That two windows cannot have the same priority?
-
That's because 1 minute after midnight friday is now Saturday. The weekend. The only time I experience out of value charge charging is between 12 noon Friday and sometime before 4:30pm. In the linked thread you state unless you choose 5 different window MFM will do it for you. Where do you see MFM doing it for you? When I create a schedule with 4 windows at the lowest and one at the highest, it is shown that way everywhere MFM displays the schedule.
-
That's extremely counterintuitive. Wouldn't I experience more odd behavior than only Friday if this was the case? Why does it work as expected everyday but Friday?
-
I live in Ontario, Canada. My utility is not listed. I have custom value charge profiles set. Weekdays 7am to 7pm is set to the max "$$$$$$." Outside that, weekdays, and weekends are set to "$." I often told my vehicle to charge now Friday afternoon because I needed the battery topped off before a weekend trip or afternoon trip. It now seems that was unnecessary or the vehicle has learned my habits but in an odd way. Last Friday it charged Friday afternoon. At the time, I figured the system considered Friday a weekend and shrugged it off. Today it did the same. Topping off the battery between 12:00 noon and 3pm. When I got back at 430pm, after depleting all EV range, it is now waiting to charge until 7pm for a value charge. This is very strange. Does it learn charge habits? And override value charge to accommodate habit? Or is there something else going on? Edit: Pretty sure I remember at least one occasion I forgot to charge now on a Friday and it did not charge. As expected. Checked the charge log, 0% value charge for those two Friday afternoon charges. Suggesting it does learn and is overriding the value charge profiles. While this is usually convenient, there are some Friday afternoons where I would prefer it wait until the value charge window. But it seems the only way to ensure this is to not plug it in those Fridays. I should double check, at the vehicle, that it is syncing value charge profiles correctly.

This morning I drove for 8km in -12C (~10f), preconditioned to setting 18.5C (~65F) on 120v charger. No other heating on the drive. No ICE. I suppose it's possible the preconditioning kept the engine and fluids warm enough for the whole 8km trip.
-
The vehicle is usually cool, having not been driven in ~12 hours, when it occurs. It has happen for most the 2.5 months I've owned my vehicle so I do not believe it is ice forming. Until this thread I had passed it off as normal. A missing washer, such as something similar but maybe not identical to the half shalf tsb above, could potentially only cause an issue like this when the vehicle is cool as well. Could explain why Dag dealers was unable to reproduce it after the vehicle had been driven into the dealer.
-
I often hear a similar noise with my 2014 fusion energi when first backing out my garage in the morning. Maybe not as loud. Always after a meter or 3 of reversing. Not as a I begin reversing. I do use the parking break and have heard this noise even when the parking break has been disengaged with the parking break indicator off for a good 30 seconds or more. I can sometimes feel a slight change in the motion of the vehicle when the pop occurs but she drives as normal before and after.

If it were "necessary" to drain the HVB during the first ~30km of driving when it was below 0f, to maintain "heat for the battery and engine compartment," the vehicle would be pretty much out of luck for the rest of the gas tank. Unless the battery somehow deals with cold weather better, requiring less heating, when ev range has been depleted.
-
Have you had anymore experience with this phenomenon? A later poster, Marc, said it was related to starting in EV now and doesn't occure in auto or ev later? Were you in EV now when this occured? Anyone else experienced the vehicle allowing only auto operation below 0f and ev later disabled? This is very concerning to me as every other weekend I am unable to charge the battery after i drive 75km one way to visit my gf. Currently i use ev later to keep charge for driving around the city when i get there and battery health. I imagine the cold weather preventing me from doing that, the cold itself and no charging for 1.5 days will be less healthy for the battery than if i could use ev later.

Personally, having driven a hybrid for any number of years is less, not more, important than understanding the physics behind the batteries if you want to make judgements about how the battery is designed. Especially since before 2013, "ford" hybrids used an entirely different battery. They may end up there, but to end up there, "ford" would have had to have made use of the "extra capacity of the energi" and there is no longer any extra left to draw from. It does make use of this capacity, once depleted, if it has need. Such as long period of regen going down a hill. Which you said in your post. The only logical conclusion left to draw is that the extra capacity you refer to (since you just said it does use that capacity in some form) is charge in the HVB. "At highway speeds under normal circumstances, the Energi operates like the hybrid, correct?" Always driving down the highway with your HVB depleted may be normal for you but it's not for me and defeats the purpose of having an ev later mode. But yes, since "this thread is about hybrid mode," it is pretty clear that when "at highway speed" in ev later or hybrid mode, "the energi operates like the hybrid."
-
If you replace "highway" with EV later this is mostly correct. Ford does make use of the extra capacity of the energi at highway speeds, in auto or ev now. You'd probably be less surprised if you understood more about the chemical reaction that fuels the inner workings of these batteries. Ppl are often surprised when they try to take a little information and run with it. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing." This thread is full of examples of that.

I also had my vehicle removed after performing a master reset.
