  1. I take it, since this has happened twice, the check engine light turns off at some point? Doesn't show on the next start up? I wouldn't be surprised if the car doesn't exactly like being plugged into a dead charge cord like that. It's expected something from it. Power. Communication about what type of charger it is. Something. When it gets nothing instead and can't decide if it's even plugged in or not it may throw the check engine as a precaution. It knew something was plugged in but what was expected next by the software never occurred. You then told it nothing is plugged in. This could likely also be what the software would see if there was an issue with the charge port. As a precaution, it is throwing the check engine light so you'll have a dealer check the charge port. But next time you charge it see normal behavior and dismisses the check engine? Or maybe there is something wrong with your charge port. But if it only does at non-active chargers like this, I doubt it.
  2. Well I got under coating done while waited. I came in with a 50% charge. I left with zero. They ran the hvac to dissipate the smell. Would think they could have plugged in it outside during this time. There are also not adverse me using the outside charging unit. They say i should hang out for an extra two hours after my service is finished if i want a charge. 3 visits. Brought here in with some charge, left with 3 dead batteries. Or like i told a Chevy dealer before i bought my fusion. If one dealer won't apply for the provincial incentive on my behalf (charge my car) and another dealership will... I wonder which is going to get my money...
  3. Is the intent of this charger to charge during service or only for diagnostic purposes?
  4. Some issues yes. Some are newer. Hoping to get into the dealership again this Friday and was supposed to be hearing from someone else at Ford again later this week. Was going to mention the new developments then. Of course, like the wipers previously, all except the grinding issue seems to have fixed itself again. The navigation was also off route again last night. Like the other issues, this is also very intermittent. Having only occurred about 6-8 times. This time however was right near my house. A location it has worked flawless many times in the past. So i don't think it is just local interference anymore. Possibly because it was -22C?
  5. Good idea. I tried in reverse before because that also only uses the friction breaks. It does still make the same noise in N at low speeds. Will test high speed more tomorrow. It may just be dirty, rusty and or icey. It's too cold for wet. Do they grab in the cold as well? I somehow thought breaks grabbing referred more to a lurching or unevenness in the breaking of the vehicle. Going to ask to test drive a new energi at next service visit to compare sound.
  6. Thanks! The setting remote unlocking does indeed apply to intelligent access from the door handles.
  7. The first two times they just said there's nothing wrong with the breaks and suggested it was the anti locks I was feeling. Haven't had a chance to get back to the dealership again
  8. This morning, on the centre lcd I tried to turn on the seat warmers and the auto climate. Neither worked. It clicked like I was pressing them but no response. I then touched beside one of these buttons to enter the climate screen. This worked fine. So obviously I was not just missing the buttons. The buttons within the climate screen worked fine. Anyone else experience this?
  9. I believe they're referring to a (pseudo) true state of charge value. The only time i see this behavior is when the EV range is depleted completely. It will charge the hybrid portion then wait for value charge. Mine does not charge the EV range to "10%" outside of value charge.
  10. Got winter tires and some wheels for them. Couple days after they were installed a high pitched whine would sometimes occur about once or twice a day during the last 5 to 10 feet of coming to a stop. It never happened before the new tires wheels. It only happened with high 90s brake scores. I believe it was related to the friction brakes being used to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. This happened about once or twice a day for about two weeks than stopped. A Ford dealer looked at the brakes twice and say there is nothing wrong with them. A week ago, after the last dealer visit, the vehicle started making a grinding noise, largely under the same high 90s brake score conditions, during the last 5 to 10 feet again. It is much more faint or almost non existent if I use L to bring the vehicle to <5km/h before using the brake pedal. The whine sounded like a thin piece of metal rubbing against another piece of metal at high speed. The grinding noise sounds like that thin piece of metal has worn down so more of it makes contact. Or like two unlubricated pieces of metal spinning against each other. It can sometimes be almost masked by the noise of the ICE, brakes shutters/pump, HVAC or the radio. Some have suggested to me rusty brake pads. My 2006 Honda civic does not make a similar noise. My parents 2013 Ford F150 does not make a similar noise. Anyone else experience this noise? It was not the (normal) inverter whine. It is not the anti lock brakes (dealership suggested I was feeling the antilocks when I complained of a noise). It is not the brake shutter/pump. It is not the active grill shutters.
  11. Often when setting destination to home from the right LCD with the steering wheel controls, after it shows calcing route, it returns to the first destination selection screen or compass with no route. Usually when setting destination home I have to set it twice. There often isn't even an ok for guidance prompt under navigation on the right LCD after setting destination home once. Anyone else experience this? Maybe it takes a little longer than I am giving it before trying again? I also sometimes get stuck on this LCD when receiving texts at the listen, cancel, or dial. I believe it sticks when I hit listen on the center LCD instead of ok with the steering wheel controls. After doing so, listen or cancel do nothing with the steering controls. Dial eventually works but takes a good 20+ seconds. The listen, cancel or dial prompt also doesn't appear on the right LCD while I have navigation guidance on that LCD. Anyone else experience this? I would have thought the listen, cancel, dial prompt would pop the LCD regardless of current usage with an incoming text. Seems counter productive to the propose of these keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road controls.
  12. When touching the driver's door handle: the intelligent access only unlocks the driver's door. When touching any passenger door handle: the intelligent access unlocks all doors. Intended? Customizable? I don't believe it worked this way when I first bought the vehicle. Also, lately, the driver's door sometimes doesn't recognize when I press the lock marks on the handle. I know the switch inhibit option prevents a lock within a given time period of an unlock or vice versa. Are there any other time related reasons the driver's door handle may refuse to lock but the passenger's door handle would lock?
  13. I got to speak to a fordserviceca rep yesterday. They confirmed the option for AWD exists in their extended service plan pricing and do not know why it is there.
  14. I also experience pre conditioning running past the go time. I believe it will run past the go time up to ten minutes. The same length as a remote start. I also seem to recall reading this somewhere previously (on this forum, the manual, I don't remember).
  15. Even if it could, it would need two fairly long cords, two outlets on different circuits near each other or higher amp circuits than usually found for 120v. The 120v charge cord loads a 15amp circuit about 75%. Twice that will pop even a 20 amps breaker. For example, my entire garage is one 15 amp circuit. For this to work one cord would need to stretch to my house or not park the vehicle in the garage.
  16. I doubt it. They got annoyed with the few questions I did ask. That is my concern as well. And why I asked them about hybrid vs energi. In the hopes they may catch a mistake. I'm also concerned they were confusing energi and titanium. I mentioned this in my pm to fordserviceca. Hopefully they can figure it out. Imo it's an issue with a database ford dealers here in Ontario Canada are using. Which might also explain them going through three tire sizes before finding the correct one.
  17. I did Monday. I believe it was forwarded to the regional manager yesterday.
  18. I had them double and triple check as much as I could get them too. They stated there was a price difference between FWD and AWD. I asked if that's the case, is there a price difference between hybrid and Energi? They went to check they had the right option. They specifically state they have two options listed for 2014 Fusion Energi. FWD and AWD. And that is the story at two different dealerships in the two different cities here in Ontario Canada. If there was confusion, it was likely during the entry of this data into the database. Unless it is just a flag available for all vehicles in their software. If yes add 'x.'
  19. Yea, I tried to tell them that. They get annoyed and tell me well yours is FWD so it doesn't matter anyway. Really instills confidence. If their pricing and parts databases include a model of fusion energi that doesn't even exist, what other incorrect data is in these databases?
  20. At least two dealers here in Canada are convinced the Energi can come in optional all wheel drive. They get annoyed when I question the existence of an energi AWD. Ford.ca doesn't let me build an energi in AWD. Does the Energi come in optional AWD?
  21. It seems that is mostly only true if you live in the USA.
  22. It's an MPG equivalent of the electrical use during the trip. It's (a form of) MPGe they just took the e off a few months ago.
  23. The mpg reported by the trip is total miles (including ev) divided by gallons. Even when the ev range of the battery is depleted you will still get some ev miles reported in the trips. These ev miles are supplied by regen and the ice turning to charge the battery.
  24. 1: Yes this means hybrid mode. It drives identical to the hybrid fusion. You can still drive ev only for about ~1-2 km (depending on driving conditions) after the ev range is depleted. 2: Remaining mileage to empty is remaining ev range + remaining gas range. It does not include any more ev range than the current charge in the battery. 3: Occasionally. My girlfriend doesn't ever even when I do. IMO the temperature threshold for whether to cool or heat is too sensitive. 4: They do take awhile to warm up. But once they begin to warm up they get very warm. Almost too hot for my liking.
  25. My gps is now also off location sometimes and this morning, coming to a stop, there was what started as a low vibration noise that grew in volume and pitch as I slowed down until it became very loud as I stopped. I believe this was the friction breaks rubbing somehow. I was only able to reproduce this noise very briefly (such that it did not grow in pitch and volume) on my drive home. It began as snow compacting and crunching under the tires. I now wonder if it's somehow the electronic noise cancellation picking up the crunch of the snow and attempt to cancel but not being designed to do so. Update: Same noise on the drive home this afternoon. No crunch of compacting snow this time. Has to be the friction breaks. Maybe I still didn't get the right wheels. sigh. My car alarm was also triggered this morning by unplugging the block heater...
