Since MFT 3.8 release it has come to light in a post in the fusion hybrid forum that many 2013 owners who have been stuck with 3.6 for about a year should have also received the 3.7 update and they're collecting vins to begin fixing this problem so they can update to 3.8. This has occurred despite many owners repeatedly mentioning this fact on these forums. It is a problem that occurred and can only be solved at Ford corporate level. No dealership would even know there was a problem as ford is telling them that they have the correct software. It struck me today that the text messaging issue I experience, which is isolated entirely to the right lcd, may occur for a similar reason. That some 2014s, maybe even only Canadian 2014s, may potentially similarly not be flagged for a cluster software update.

MFT shows a percentage. This % is the % of remaining HVB usable for ev driving only. Hence it is also the % of remaining ev range. That is what I said in my last post. However I believe that someone had posted else where that the 2015s and newer that have lost the ev range from the cluster battery icon do have an ev range somewhere on the touch screen. Moving it there moves it out of sight and out of mind which is probably very effective at reducing complaints about the accuracy as the type of people who would complain about this also likely won't go looking for. Selling a ev that has absolutely no range estimate at all is product suicide.

Did anyone else notice the OEM tires for the Energi are changing?
openair replied to Fat Fusion's topic in Tires & Wheels
Can you explain the reasoning behind this? Seems counter intuitive? -
It shows 0%.

I believe the battery graphic has the same 3dish or flat look and just lost the range estimate. But I think looking for the ev range remaining % on the touch screen is still a better recommendation as the difference of '3d look or flat' may not be obvious to those such as the op who are driving an energi for the first time.

Spoke to the IVT again on the phone today to inform them it was still broken after 3.8. They're looking into it this time and will call me back end of this or early next week.
-
This broken behaviour continues after installing MFT 3.8. Can add IPhone 6 to the list of phones that behave this way. Not just an android issue. Since this occurs with an iPhone 6 it is obviously not even an issue with the way the bluetooth MAP standard is implemented in sync. It is purely an issue with the way the right lcd within the cluster handles these messages.

Nice to see ford has added support for siri, a feature of a mobile phone they claim doesn't even support something as simple as text messaging with sync, but has done nothing to fix the text messaging issues with Android phones and iphones. GPS still doesn't account for day light savings and pulls the wrong time too. Good to see ford has their priorities lined up with their new apple bed fellow

There would be different engineering requirements for squeeze the battery into an existing space then to engineer a space around the battery. The battery in a model S is long, wide and thin. Can run a row of heatsinks or active cooling ducts in one or a few straight channels along one or even both sides of the battery. If the battery were squished in the engine space it would have to be more cubed shaped. Maybe layered. The cooling system would have to snake between the layers, with heat generating components on either side of some of the cooling system. This would be less effective use of the space and a less efficient cooling system. A less efficient cooling system means a less efficient drive.

Yes. Auto. The ice never actually engaged. Just the ice threshold behaving differently. Edit: The ice threshold continued fluctuating between 3.5 and 4 bars for the remaining 25% of the ev range. This morning, after charging last night, I'm back to a constant 4 bars at an even colder temp of 10c. I think it must have been related to having driven the vehicle in ev later prior to this auto driving, the vehicle having not been charged for two days and the overnight drop in ambient temps all contributing to a variance in cell voltage that resulted in the drop of available ev power I experienced.
-
Today I am experiencing the ICE threshold on the empower screen fluctuate between 3.5 and its usual 4 bars depending on speed. Only reaching 4 bars at 60+kmh. There is 25% charge left on the ev range of the HVB and other demands such as climate settings or heated seats make no difference to this fluctuation of the ice threshold. Anyone else experienced similar? I don't recall the ice threshold ever behaving this way when there is any ev range left in the HVB. Even at sub zero temperatures. It's 12c today. I only recall seeing the ice threshold fluctuate with speed in ev later or hybrid driving. Pretty sure it didn't fluctuate like this yesterday at 7c.

Ford's lack of support for EVs
openair replied to flyingcheesehead's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
To be fair... The issue from the thread the quote in the op is from is not an ev specific issue. Some of the behaviour is apparently common with all 2013 and 2014 ford intelligent access antennas. My text messaging issue is also not ev related. Being reproducible in a 2013 straight gas fusion. Things like dealers not having, or even requiring, like models to decide how things are supposed to work, no ev certified dealers here in southern Ontario living up to the requirements set for this class of dealership, not being able to identify the special service or parts requirements and ford giving conflicting messages about whether certain behaviour is intended or something a dealership should look at all push me to agree with the spirit of the op though. One dealership here even tells me on the phone they're no longer hybrid electric certified. Yet are still listed as such 4 months later. -
I think what Larry is saying is that when go times were removed from MFM they were still present in the vehicle. They were only removed from MFM. Recreating go times now, in either location, after this incident of them being removed from MFM, works as it always did.

Intelligent Access: driver's door behavior
openair replied to openair's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
A 2013 Lincoln (they didn't say what model) behaves the same as mine. Refuses to lock or unlock the doors if the keyfob is too close. They say this is as close as we're going to get to confirming the 2015 does have a new antenna. Meaning nothing will be done about mine. -
If it's largely an iTunes feature, it not working with non apple products is no fault of ford or Microsoft. It is likely deliberately designed that way by Apple

Recover the 5 digit security code
openair replied to FusionNAZ's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
These instructions are also in the manual. For the 2014 manual: in the Keyless Entry section of the Locks section, page 59, under the heading "Displaying the Factory Set Code." -
EVSE charger with two 120v regular cords?
openair replied to josefontao's topic in Batteries & Charging
Have you used one of those quick220s?? Does the 15 amp version charge a fusion energi much faster than the charger that comes with it? How often do you find 2 120v outlets that are close enough yet are on separate circuits so can actually support the draw of the higher amp versions? -
Intelligent Access: driver's door behavior
openair replied to openair's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
It's a great ride. Better than advertised fuel economy. Just wish someone would fix these convenience features or at least knew how certain things were supposed to work. If a 2015 Fusion really doesn't qualify as a like model... than 3 to 5 years until no dealer in southern Ontario will have any like models just became 6 months tops. -
Intelligent Access: driver's door behavior
openair replied to openair's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
The 'like' model they got today does not have intelligent access. They do have a 2015 Fusion with intelligent access and the doors do unlock with the key fob in the same position mine does not but the tech 'thinks that maybe it's a different antenna' so even one year newer may disqualify it as a like model. -
Intelligent Access: driver's door behavior
openair replied to openair's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Hi Mathieu. My last case number regarding help related to this and other issues from "FordServiceCA" and the regional mangers you would put me in contact was closed, by them, after about two weeks of waiting for them to call me back as the said they would but never did. They were also no help what so ever and, in at least once instance, only made things worse by threatening to pre-bias a second opinion at a different dealership against me. Basically telling me at every conversation "it's all on the dealer. We only help with out of warranty coverage, warranty extensions, and stuff like that." They're also feel that calling me during my work hours when I cannot answer the phone is me refusing contact. I do not believe that giving you the information you ask for will accomplish anything and do not want you guys making matters worse as your fellow employees once did. -
Intelligent Access: driver's door behavior
openair replied to openair's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
While this is what I was told over the phone by a local dealer Rep it is not what they were told by the Ford hotline. It seems the girl who told me this made it up but she was not there today for me to ask. They called me last week after our last conversation was that I would wait to bring it in again when the intelligent access issue became more reproducible. They offered me a rental so they could keep the vehicle over night and look into this and my phone issue further. I asked her on the phone, twice, if they had a like model and a known good phone to complete the hotlines diagnostics. I dropped my vehicle off, confirmed they would be ready and able to fulfill why I was there after returning from the rental place (as they closed at 6). I returned from the rental place and the dealer had no phone and no like model. They talked like they were just going to throw an apim at it and I should leave it there. I then got to read the response from the hotline while they again went to confirm they didn't have a like model with either MFT or IA. The response from the hotline regarding the phone was as expected from a previous dealer. Try my phone and a known good phone with both my car and a like model. The response regarding the IA issue said nothing of it being intended as the girl had previously told me. It infact stated that they should compare with a like model. The Edge the rental company gave me unlocks and locks all the doors with the key fob in the same position that my fusion does not. The dealer Rep who was there didn't know if an edge was acceptable for comparison. They are supposedly getting a like model tomorrow and offered to send it and a tech out to me. It is very concerning that, after calling me 30 minutes prior to confirm I was still coming, not only was this dealer not ready to service my vehicle but that they were also unable to correctly interpret the response from the hotline or just made up nonsense instead. Also while I can understand the necessity of needing comparative diagnostic for issues involving third party hardware, such as my phone, to require comparative diagnostics for an issue involving only ford hardware is beyond ridiculous. Especially if a one year newer edge with the same IA option doesn't qualify as a like model. What happens in 3 to 5 years when there are no like model at any dealership to compare with? How does the Ford hotline not even know how things are supposed to work? -
Blastphemy this could vary wildly with ambient and current interior temp. For example the noticeable change in the temp and amount of air being blow by the AC when changing from 72 to 71 will be less than when changing from 73 to 72 if the ac is already near or at it's 'bursting' to reach a sustainable temp force. The same may be true of the difference between 74 to 73 and 73 to 72 if 73 wasn't far enough from a sustaining draw that it triggered a 'burst.'

Driving the Energi as a hybrid
openair replied to troylikesbikes's topic in Energi Driving Tips & Tricks
As hybridbear and Meagan says the ANC monitors ICE speed/RPM, and as stevedebi says the ice is lighter because some features of engines for vehicles without ANC were omitted. The ICE and how it interacts with the eCVT and the nature of a hybrid are the entire reason these vehicles have ANC. Most ICE's are calibrated such that they rarely, if ever, run at certain RPM and/or gear combinations so that they do not create high or low frequency sounds that are often very annoying. The eCVT has many more power/efficiency points than a standard transmission and any extra power generated at one of these points not needed to propel the vehicle can simply be channeled into the hvb. The efficiency of these extra points made ANC a must for these vehicles. The reduce weight by omitting some sound dampening from the ICE was icing on the cake. Murphy's experience with road and other ambient noises is likely due to extra sound dampening material within the body of the vehicle and/or manufacturer experience. Ford likely has more experience and knowledge with placing and types of sound dampening than Tesla who has not been building vehicles as long. -
Skipping Go times is unreliable or doesn't work at all. I believe this use to work. Maybe a recent software update dealerships have tried to fix other issues went wrong? I have a Go time set for later this afternoon. Hit skip. The vehicle continued to charge outside the value charge window. Delete the Go time. The vehicle now waits to charge. Recreate the Go time. Vehicle begins charging again. Hit skip again. Continues charging. Have to delete the Go time to have it follow value charging. It seems skip only prevents the vehicle from preconditioning and does not have the vehicle follow value charging as though that go time were not set.
