About FordTech

  1. Not trying to come off like an ass but that sounds like a lack of research prior to purchase on your part.
  2. Possiblty a small rock got kicked up and caught in the caliper/brake pad and was rubbing on the rotor. It may sound far fetched but it wouldnt be the first time I have seen it happen. I am thinking this was probably your issue since it stopped after hitting some good bumps it probably dislodged the rock
  3. If you PM me your email address I will do what I can to download every TSB I can find for the 13 and 14 Energi's and email them to you so you could post them in the TSB thread.
  4. Thanks for the warm welcome :) I will be more than happy to assist wherever I can. As far as TSB's what was the last TSB you guys could access? I will take a look and see what TSB's may have come out since and see if I can post any new ones up :)
  5. I have also run into similar reactions from friends, I was quite puzzled how they wouldnt be interested in how I was obtaining 110+mpg during my work commuting. Most of my family however, their ears perked up at the sound of my 110+mpg endeavors. I think the big thing is some car nuts (possibly ones like the couple male members of your family you mentioned) really couldn't care less about gas mileage or new hybrid techonology they are only interested in flashy fast things, kind of like a ferret, simple minded and enamored by anything shiny. I know a lot of people who still wish we had carburetors and distributors and think fuel injection is junk. Overall I think it is peoples lack of interest or pessimism towards change that drives a lot away from hybrid/electric technology. Most people think, more technology more to go wrong. I am absolutely obsessed with plugin/hybrid techonology after owning my FFE. I think it is amazing and cant wait to see what the future holds for advancement in this field.
  6. Looked into this for you in the Ford WSM. Found this: Automatic Release The parking brake is designed to automatically release under the following circumstances: the driver door must be closed.the driver safety belt must be fastened.the engine must be running or the green Ready-to-Drive indicator must be illuminated.the transmission must be in any forward gear or REVERSE. Once all the conditions have been met, the parking brake releases automatically when the accelerator pedal is pressed. A vehicle driving away up an incline requires more accelerator pedal input than a vehicle driving away down an incline.
  7. Actually I think that is one of the points of being able to automatically disengage the parking brake with the accelerator. Say you are parked on a hill nose facing up, if you disengage the parking brake then let off your brake without being able to hit the gas fast enough you have the possibility of rolling backwards before moving forward. The point of the parking brake disengaging with throttle input is to keep you parked on the hill until you can apply throttle to start moving you forward so you have no chance of rolling backwards before moving forward.
  8. Exactly what Jeff said. Using the touchpad outside the car will allow you to lock the keyfob inside the car.
  9. Hi everybody! I am David, I am a certified Ford technician in Maryland, I just recently (a week ago) took delivery of my 2014 Fusion Energi, I was tired of 24-25mpg consistant in my 2013 2.0 Ecoboost Fusion so I jumped the boat and traded it in on my FFE. So far I am completely in love with the car, I drive 66 miles a day and with plugging in at work and at home I have been averaging 115mpg to and from work. I mostly work on Super Duty diesel trucks but I also work on a lot of police and fleet vehicles (Escape, Explorer, Taurus). So I am not VERY intimately familiar with the inner workings of our Energi's yet, however I have a vast amount of information at my disposal with our Ford workshop manual and other resources so I will try to be as helpful as I can with people with questions and problems on here. Obviously owning one of these now I will want to learn as much as possible to help both myself and others as well. Anyway, enough of the long intro, glad to become part of this community and I look forward to learning and helping as much as possible on here. -David
