Got My VIN/Build Week/Estimated Delivery Today
jberger replied to pluggedin's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
It is "in plant" status. There really is no way for me to know more. The Dealership could look at vehicle visibility and tell you more. -

I assume Ford won't have any problem "loading" a rail car right now. So a direct answer would be yes, they would have to fill the rail first. -

What dealership is it going to? I can pull up any Dealer on the locator and see in plant, transit and stock inventory. -

Looks like my order went from "sent offsite" to "Returned from Offsite" today. I guess that means it's inline for a rail car. Good news! ETA still states TBD, which I assume will remain that way until it's on a rail car. -

Yes, that Fusion shows "in transit" now. -
If you plan on purchasing and keeping the car for a long time, I think a purchase is the way to go, specially since you can borrow money at around 1.49-2.49%. I wouldn't ever pay cash, when a bank will give me money at that rate, on a depreciating item. Much better things I can do with that money. If you only plan on keeping the car for 2-3 years, then all of sudden the lease is back in the game. I just like the lack of obligation on a lease. If my payment is 350 per month on a 24 month lease, then i only owe $8400 dollars. If the lease charges are low enough that is.
-
No,you can't get both. Still, the lease is a lower payment than any purchase, even at 2% money. Plus you are protected by a residual if you want to get rid of the car in 2 or 3 years. If you purchase the car, you'll get the $3750 tax credit, but keep in mind, thats just a tax credit, not actual rebate into your pocket. It really depends on your taxes, and we all are different there. It doesn't helps me, but not to the extent the lease does. I'm in the auto industry, and I like to get rid of cars every 2-3 years, so it's a better, smarter way for me to buy. Obviously if you do a purchase on a plug in, it really makes no sense at all as far as payback. I love driving hybrids, and my lease payment is lower on a Energi than the standard Hybrid. I'll just have to throw my golf back in the back seat unfortunately!
-
you don't want to lease? Its a better deal to do a 24 or 36 month lease. You should get $3750 rebate. If you purchase it you can only use the $3750 as a tax credit for 2013. If you do the math, even if you just purchase the car at the end of the lease it should still be a better deal.

That's just how Ford labels them. You should see IP-order# then body code. For instance a Fusion Energi Ti would be: IP-xxxxP0L, the order # is 4 digits. When it arrives at the dealer, then the dealer assigns their own stock # and the IP# will go away. -

#595 is showing "in plant" #589 is not showing, which means they either hid it, or its not even built yet. -

No problem. I did a little more research and it seems Ford is updating the locator system a lot today. I show 38 shipped so far nationwide. The majority to So Cal (obviously) and several to my region (NW) So this is good news. They are definitely shipping now! -

When they ship, the status changes from "in plant" to "in transit" which means it's on a rail car. I cannot search by VIN, only by vehicle model and options and I can search all 3000 dealers. It's easier said than done though, takes some time clicking through all the pages and pages. -

Looking through my vehicle locator, I am seeing Fusion Energi Ti's shipping now. Very not many though, but its a good sign. There are hundreds and hundreds showing in plant, and I counted about 50 in transit. -
I was wrong. I was told that "offsite" just means that it was moved to a different lot offsite to wait for rail. If it goes somewhere else it would say so.
-
I'm surprised they haven't released a few for media reviews. This is usually a smart PR move to get that much added interest in the technology and the benefits to owning one. It stops potential buyers that were about to purchase a different make, to postpone.

Great, looks like mine was sent to Detroit like a lot of the Energi's. My rep was in today and told me that they are sending a lot of Fusions to a large storage area in Detroit. He didn't know why. There has to be a reason. I think it may be because they want to deliver to the masses at the same time. Obviously it can be questioned that there is a quality control issue, or even a re issue of the MPGe ratings? Wish I knew! Just want the dang car! $3750 incentive on the Ford Fusion Energi
jberger replied to Taylorjd's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
"Huge storage of everything it takes weeks in advance". I wish that was the case, but its not. As the train shows up with parts, they are taken off the train and go straight to the factory floor, zero storage. This is called "efficient manufacturing". However this is what is causing all the delays, making a lot of people re consider the decision to buy a Ford. Efficiency sounds great until the supplier can't keep up with the demand and/or couldn't produce to a agreed level, then you the consumer gets screwed, because you have to wait and wait for the car you ordered. The factory floor wont stop producing cars, so the car is built with missing parts, then sent to a storage lot until there is a surplus of parts. However when the new parts show, they won't finish the cars in storage, the parts go straight to the factory floor to complete the cars on the line. So there that other car sits, on a storage lot in the middle of Mexico waiting for parts that are only 300 yards away. Until the supplier can make more parts than needed, that car in the storage lot will just sit. The good news, is Ford is obviously aware of this problem, so they have hired several new suppliers to make the same parts, there is some lag time while they ramp up, but this is already starting to work. For instance: if Ford's headlight manufacturer couldn't keep up with demand, Ford finds another company that can produce the same headlight and contract them. The original supplier gets a lower order and boom, you have enough headlights for multiple suppliers. We have 3 Fusion Hybrid's that were ordered 7 months ago and just arrived this month. The sand in the wheels has almost turned into cement because it was sitting there so long. I was told they were missing headlights and headliners, and had to wait for parts. All 3 were sold orders, and I already have provided those customers with different orders and they are happy. It's tough for the consumer and the Dealer, but it's great to have a great product that a lot people want! -

$3750 incentive on the Ford Fusion Energi
jberger replied to Taylorjd's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
at "D" plan with zero down my payment is around $400x24 on a Energi Ti, so unless you put some money down you're not going to get a payment like that. -
Got My VIN/Build Week/Estimated Delivery Today
jberger replied to pluggedin's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Any available factory rebates at the time of ordering can be used even at delivery even if they are expired. The Dealer has to print a "Vincent" (Current rebates) at the time of ordering on a like vehicle. If the incentives have gone down at the time of delivery, the old rebates are "locked". The Dealer has to upload proof of order and available rebates at the time of order, and Ford will honor them.
