I'm moving next week, and am going to have to take the freeway instead of side roads like I used to, so I won't be getting that type of performance anymore. =(
-
Thanks for posting that, good explanation. Though MPG is still an accurate figure given the amount of gasoline usage per mile driven. So I guess that can be argued too? I find it astonishing that I am pacing to drive nearly 6,000 miles before I need to fill up. Though "fuel freshness mode" will probably make sure that doesn't happen. It has gotten to the point where I purposely do not charge at work anymore, just to burn some gas!

No effect on warranty. Bulbs are not even covered under the bumper to bumper warranty anyways.
-
It may work better with cooling off then warming. Up here in Seattle that won't happen for a few months if at all!

There is no way to achieve those numbers with taking the highway. I drove 20 miles last monday (40 miles round trip) to go play some golf, got about 38 MPG on that trip. My MPG dropped from the 999.99 it was at down to 285, so I can see how highway driving is a killer for this car. I have taken short trips on the highway, maybe 5-10 miles and they were achieved on all EV. I have run out of EV miles within 2-3 miles of my home, and due to EV+ mode they ICE maybe ran for less that a 1/4 mile. So, yeah, I know I wont get this type of performance if I drove further.

I have 250 miles on my car, I show 118 MPGe and 625 MPG. I gotta bring this up, because it seems valid to me: What is the point of MPGe? I really don't care what the carbon footprint used from plugging it in vs gas usage equivalent is. I care what my MPG's are, and that number is amazing on this car! I'll probably go 4-6k miles before a fill up, how is that not relevant? I just think MPG is a much more relevant number to talk about. I understand it is costing $ per kwh to plug it in, and there is a carbon footprint usage to that, and the EPA certainly found it relevant to use the equivalent. I just don't really find it important. Sorry, had to rant a little about it. I'm a gun toting conservative driving a plug in hybrid, I can't help it!

Actually, I do notice a warning that performanceay not be as good with the 110v. My commute is only 9 miles, so I can make it just fine with climate Control on. But with It off I can drive to work and back in one charge. Just trying to maximize.
-
I use the 110v at home. I have set Go Times in the morning and just do not feel any increase in interior temperature. It feels ambient. Do you have to be plugged into a 240v charger? I have 240v chargers at the Dealership of course, and haven't set go times because I charge spontaneously. I even set it to 85 degrees this morning just to test it out to no avail!

Yeah I had them installed, I'll take some pics tonight of the ballast mounting. It looks like they just wired them through the factory system. The problem is, HID's draw a lower amount of power and I have had the lights turn off. I had to cycle the lights to get them back on again and they stayed on. My kit included a module called a "error corrector" and I am having that installed on Monday that should correct that problem.

Did some research online and found http://www.ddmtuning.com/. Their complete kits seem to be a bargain, and with lifetime warranties. I purchased, the bulbs, digital ballasts wiring harness and error corrector I never used the wiring harness or error corrector yet, you can install without those. Last night my right bulb shut off, I cycled the headlight switch and it turned back on and stayed on. I might have to use the wiring harness and error correctors I think. OEM HID's are 35 watts, going 55w is just stupid. All you do is drive around blinding people. 35w produces more than enough light with a 4500-5000k bulb. I went 4500k, because I like natural light. People that go above 6k doesn't make any sense, it creates a blue light that is less visible at night. Not to mention the strain it puts on your eyes.
-
I'll put some better photos up later. Added 35W 4500K's from DDM. They work great!
-
Yeah it does add up. I actually get more remaining miles when I hit more red lights than I do without.
-
Though with my daily commute to my Dealership and back I never use the ICE, I also do not ever run in EV later. I would rather just run out of battery and go into Hybrid mode. Has anybody seen a difference/advantage with EV later?
-
Ok, i'm not sure if thats true or not. I don't ever run the engine with miles remaining unless I hop on the hwy which isn't too often. I know that once it's drained, it'll just run in Hybrid mode until you charge again.
-
Yes it is. It works the same way the Hybrid works. The engine will recharge the battery pack.
-
When i'm in EV mode ( which is 99.9% of my driving) I gain miles throughout my trip. For instance: When I leave home I have 23-24 miles showing on range. After my 9.3 miles trip to the office, I usually show 16-17 miles left. So I gained 2-3 miles on the drive from the braking. This morning it was 38 degrees, so I decided to run the climate control, the engine turned on and when I arrived at the office I had 19 miles left!

Got My VIN/Build Week/Estimated Delivery Today
jberger replied to pluggedin's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Took delivery today! I'll take some pics later tomorrow. Window tint and HID's going on tomorrow! -
The radar sensor can get blocked sometimes it can happen. Was it raining, snowing or just stuff blowing around on the road? Just a leaf can cause it. It's pretty rare. ALso, sounds like you need to find somebody at your Dealer that can teach you about the technology on your car!

I had this on my car too. Only delayed by like 10-12 hours. I'm sure you'll be moving by tomorrow!
